The characteristic absolute efficiency response curves of a high purity germanium detector (HPGe) for different counting geometries have been established in the energy range 50–1500 keV by measuring the absolute efficiencies using both mono-energetic and multi-gamma emitting radionuclide point calibrated sources supplied by IAEA. Several fitting functions proposed in the literature were assessed for interpolation within the intermediate energy range of interest. The values of the function parameters have been determined by using the linear least square methods. The problems associated with the measurements of experimental efficiency data at small source–detector distances and the importance of the correlation matrix in the estimation of precise uncertainties have been shown. It was found that the inclusion of correlation matrices in the propagation of error formulae plays a significant role up to 450 keV gamma-ray energy and results in a drastic reduction of errors associated with the predicted efficiencies. The discrepancy at closer counting geometries in the absence of true gamma-gamma coincidence corrections is found to reach to about 30%.  相似文献

Distortion of nominally planar phthalocyanine macrocycles affects the excited state dynamics in that most of the excited-state energy decays through internal conversion. A click-type annulation reaction on a perfluorophthalocyanine platform appending a seven-membered ring to the β-positions on one or more of the isoindoles distorts the macrocycle and modulates solubility. The distorted derivative enables photoacoustic imaging, photothermal effects, and strong surface-enhanced resonance Raman signals.  相似文献

The remarkable significance of electrode materials in industrial processes, energy, sustainability and diabetes monitoring has captivated scientists to develop advance nanomaterials for the benefit of life across the globe. Here in, the recent developments in nanostructured porous metal and metal oxide composite materials for supercapacitor applications and non-enzymatic glucose sensors (NEGS) has been extensively discussed. The essential and active electrode materials from the research and application perspective has been emphasized in detail. We have also evaluated the worthiness, taxonomical classification, efficiency, specific capacitance and sensitivity of these materials for the aforementioned potential applications. Segmentation of diffusion-weighted echo-planar imaging (DW-EPI) is challenging because of concerns regarding spatial resolution and distortion. Methods commonly used require manual input and often need thresholding measures to segment white matter (WM), gray matter (GM) and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). This may introduce operator bias and misclassification error. When comparing patients with a diffuse disease process-such as multiple sclerosis (MS)--with healthy controls, although information from all images may be biased due to disease effect, this is more so if the data set employed to perform segmentation is also used as a measured outcome for the study, for example, fractional anisotropy maps. Presented in this work is an unbiased method for segmenting DW-EPI data sets using the b=0 and single-shot inversion recovery EPI into WM, GM and CSF. The method employs an iterative clustering technique to account for partial volume effects and signal variation caused by radiofrequency inhomogeneity. The technique is evaluated with both real and synthetic brain data and results compared with statistical parametric mapping (SPM02). With synthetic brain data, where a gold standard of segmentation exists, the presented method showed less misclassification compared to SPM02. The unbiased method proposed may provide a more accurate methodology of segmentation in the analysis of DWI-EPI images in conditions such as MS.  相似文献

An ion exchange method has been developed for the separation of uranium from trace level metallic impurities prior to their determination by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) in uranium materials. Selective separation of uranium from trace level metallic impurities consisting Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Cd, Gd, Dy, Ni, and Ca was achieved on anion exchange resin Dowex 1 × 8 in sulphate medium. The resin (100–200 mesh, in chloride form) was packed in a small Teflon column (7.8 cm × 0.8 cm I.D.) and brought into sulphate form by passing 0.2 N ammonium sulphate solution. Optimum experimental conditions including pH and concentration of sulphate in the liquid phase were investigated for the effective uptake of uranium by the column. Uranium was selectively retained on the column as anionic complex with sulphate, while impurities were passed through the column. Post column solution was collected and analyzed by ICP-OES for the determination of metallic impurities. Up to 2,500 μg/mL of uranium was retained with >99% efficiency after passing 25 mL sample through the column at pH 3. Percentage recoveries obtained for most of the metallic impurities were >95% with relative standard deviations <5%. The method established was applied for the determination of gadolinium in urania–gadolinia (UO2–Gd2O3) ceramic nuclear fuel and excellent results were achieved. Solvent extraction method using tributylphosphate (TBP) as extractant was also applied for the separation of uranium in urania–gadolinia nuclear fuel samples prior to the determination of gadolinium by ICP-OES. The results obtained with the present method were found very comparable with those of the solvent extraction method.  相似文献

Adsorbates on metals, but not previously on semiconductors, have been observed to display long-range repulsive interactions. On metals, due to efficient dissipation, the repulsions are weak, typically on the order of 5 meV at 10 ?. On the 7×7 reconstruction of the Si(111) surface, charge transport through the surface has been demonstrated by others using charge injection by STM tips. Here we show that for both physisorbed brominated molecules, and for chemisorbed Br-atoms, induced charge-transfer in the Si(111)-7×7 surface can lead to a strong repulsive interaction between adsorbates, calculated as 200 meV at 13.4 ?. This large repulsive interaction must be channeled through the surface since it causes widely spaced "one-per-corner-hole" patterns of physisorption (three cases--directly observed here) and subsequent chemisorption (four cases observed). The patterns were observed by ultrahigh vacuum scanning tunneling microscopy for four different brominated hydrocarbon adsorbates; 1,2-dibromoethane, 1-bromopropane, 1-bromopentane, and bromobenzene, deposited individually on the surface. In every case, adsorbates were overwhelmingly more likely to be found singly than multiply adjacent to a corner-hole, constituting a distinctive pattern having a probability p = 7 × 10(-5) compared to a random distribution.  相似文献
