The influences of the Samarra impoundment on the ecology of the downstream sector of the river Tigris are investigated. Zooplankton were collected monthly from July 1987 to July 1988. It was found that zooplankton were most abundant during high river discharges in March. During the month of low river discharge, September, the zooplankton population was greatly reduced immediately below the barrage and remained so to the last downstream station. Several factors seem to explain such differences. The high discharge from the impoundment was found to be the dominating factor and may flush the small backwaters in which zooplankton were abundant, thus increasing the population in the river. Zooplankton species vary in their ability to sustain populations in the river, variations which are due mainly to species-specific characteristics.  相似文献

The photografting of methacrylic acid (MAA) on a linear low‐density polyethylene film (thickness = 30 μm) under air and nitrogen atmospheres was investigated at 60°C in mixed solvents consisting of water and an organic solvent, with xanthone as a photoinitiator. The organic solvents used were acetone, methanol, tetrahydrofuran, and dioxane. A maximum percentage of grafting occurred at a certain concentration of the organic solvent in the mixed solvent. This was observed for the systems under both air and nitrogen. The grafting reaction under air exhibited an induction period, but the rate of grafting after the period was greater than that under nitrogen. The formation of poly(ethylene peroxide)s by photoirradiation seemed to be a factor for the accelerated photografting under air. On the basis of attenuated total reflection infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy of the grafted film, the MAA‐grafted chains of the sample prepared under air tended to penetrate more deeply inside the film than those of the sample prepared under nitrogen. The resulting grafted films exhibited a pH‐responsive character: the grafted films shrank in an acidic medium but swelled in alkaline medium. Tool wear monitoring can be achieved by analyzing the texture of machined surfaces. In this paper, we present the new connectivity oriented fast Hough transform, which easily detects all line segments in binary edge images of textures of machined surfaces. The features extracted from line segments are found to be highly correlated to the level of tool wear. A multilayer perceptron neural network is applied to estimate the flank wear in various machining processes. Our experiments show that this Hough transform based approach is effective in analyzing the quality of machined surfaces and could be used to monitor tool wear. A performance analysis of our Hough transform is also provided.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to investigate the correlation of phenolic compositions and corrosion inhibition properties of Rhizophora apiculata bark extracts as affected by nine solvent systems. Several phenolic compositions, namely, total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), condensed tannin content (CTC) were investigated. In addition, the inhibitive actions of tannin extracts on mild steel in 1 M HCl solution were studied by potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed that extraction solvents had significant effects on TPC, TFC, CTC and inhibition properties of extracts. A correlation between CTC and inhibition properties of R. apiculata bark extracts was revealed.  相似文献

The best way to obtain the solar radiation data of a particular place of interest (POI) is to measure at the specific site continuously and accurately over the long term. However, due to financial, maintenance, calibration requirement of the measuring equipment or institutional limitations, these data are absent, incomplete or inaccessible in most areas of the world. Based on meteorological data from Chuping Station, Perlis which is at Northern Malaysia, there were several missing data of solar radiation for the year 2007 and 2008. This paper presents a new method to estimate the solar radiation which is a combination of Hargreaves method and linear regression. Normally, both regression coefficients, a and b of the linear regression are found based on the measured data, but using the proposed method, both regression coefficients based on the Hargreaves method with the correlated parameter, x is the difference of daily temperature. This paper also presents the basic knowledge of Hargreaves method before the proposed method is implemented. As validation, those solar radiation data that are measured by Chuping Station for the year 2006 and by Electrical Energy and Industrial Electronic System (EEIES) Cluster Station for the month of March–June 2011 and their estimated solar radiation data are compared and analyzed using coefficient of residual mass (CRM), root mean squared error (RMSE), Nash–Sutcliffe equation (NSE) and percentage error (e). The statistical analysis of the average monthly measured solar radiation data for the past 26 years (1979–2006) is compared with the estimated solar radiation data for 3 years (2006–2008). The proposed method result shows that the value of CRM is closer to zero which indicates that the proposed method is perfectly estimated, the values of RMSE are low value, this indicates that the method performs well, the value of NSE is closer to 1 which indicates that the estimated solar radiation match perfectly with the measured data taken for the past 26 years, the value of e is closer to zero which indicates that the proposed method is acceptable and applicable.  相似文献

The texture of a machined surface generated by a cutting tool, with geometrically well-defined cutting edges, carries essential information regarding the extent of tool wear. There is a strong relationship between the degree of wear of the cutting tool and the geometry imparted by the tool on to the workpiece surface. The monitoring of a tool’s condition in production environments can easily be accomplished by analyzing the surface texture and how it is altered by a cutting edge experiencing progressive wear and micro-fractures. This paper discusses our work which involves fractal analysis of the texture of surfaces that have been subjected to machining operations. Two characteristics of the texture, high directionality and self-affinity, are dealt with by extracting the fractal features from images of surfaces machined with tools with different levels of tool wear. The Hidden Markov Model is used to classify the various states of tool wear. In this paper, we show that fractal features are closely related to tool condition and HMM-based analysis provides reliable means of tool condition prediction.  相似文献
