Expanding the fields of a laser cavity in a set of orthonormal modes is a standard technique in laser theory. Expansion in a normal mode set is also the basis of the concept of photons. A substantial number of practical lasers do not, however, support any kind of normal or orthogonal cavity modes, and thus, their fields cannot be represented (at least not easily) in terms of normal modes, or photons. This leads to a number of unusual results, including situations in which the lowest-order mode of a cavity can contain substantially more energy than the total energy in the cavity, as well as enhanced quantum spontaneous emission far stronger than the single extra photon level characteristic of an ordinary laser oscillator. We review the theoretical origins of these unusual effects and present experimental confirmation of greatly enhanced Schawlow-Townes fluctuations in an unstable-resonator laser with a Petermann-noise enhancement factor of several hundred times.Dedicated to H. The effect of the nature of the substituent in the monosubstituted derivatives of dibenzo-18-crown-6 on the reactivity and direction of the electrophilic substitution reaction of the unsubstituted benzene ring has been determined. This transfer is carried out via the macrocycle and therefore is called transannular transmission. The possible mechanism of this transmission is discussed.  相似文献

Ethyl -cyanocarylate undergoes the Michael reaction with strong CH-acids (pK a < 13) in the presence of strong basic amines such as butylamine, piperidine, and triethylamine. Here we present a theoretical analysis of the effect of inelastic electron scattering on spin-dependent transport characteristics (conductance, current–voltage dependence, magnetoresistance, shot noise spectrum, Fano factor) for magnetic nanojunction. Such device is composed of molecular quantum dot (with discrete energy levels) connected to ferromagnetic electrodes (treated within the wide-band approximation), where molecular vibrations are modeled as dispersionless phonons. Non-perturbative computational scheme, used in this work, is based on the Green's function theory within the framework of mapping technique (GFT–MT), which transforms the many-body electron–phonon interaction problem into a single-electron multi-channel scattering problem. The consequence of the localized electron–phonon coupling is polaron formation. It is shown that polaron shift and additional peaks in the transmission function completely change the shape of considered transport characteristics.  相似文献

The 15O(α,α)15O elastic scattering is investigated using a 15O radioactive beam and a He gas cell limited by Mylar windows. The width of a 19Ne state at an excitation energy of 5.35MeV is measured as Γα = 3.2±1.6keV, in agreement with charge symmetry estimate.  相似文献

A investigation of the linear and nonlinear optical properties of an exciton in a spherical parabolic quantum dot has been performed by using the matrix diagonalization method. The optical absorption coefficients between the ground state (L=0,π=+1) and the first excited state (L=1,π=-1) have been examined based on the computed energies and wave functions. The results are presented as a function of the incident photon energy for the different values of the incident optical intensity and the confinement strength. We found the optical absorption coefficient is strongly affected by the incident optical intensity and the confinement strength.  相似文献

We have observed several kinds of hydrocarbon cations after the nanosecond and the femtosecond laser ablation (nsLA and fsLA) of solid C60. The observation indicates that the carbon fragments produced just after laser ablation of the C60 molecule react with the hydrogen atoms and ions coexisting in the ablation plume. In the case of fsLA, clear dependence of the product hydrocarbon species on the ablation laser power has been observed although the dependence is not clearly observed in nsLA. The production of CnH5+ (n = 8, 10, and 12) is only observed in fsLA suggesting the unique nature of the transient carbon fragments produced by fsLA.  相似文献

It is a common belief nowadays that the world economy is fairly well “integrated”. Yet, this belief often turns out to be in contradiction with empirical evidence. As a matter of fact the way distant markets interact is a question that has largely been ignored by economists. In this series of two papers we examine the role that space, that is to say geographical distance, plays in the economics of commodity markets. The first of these papers presents the empirical evidence while the second develops a theoretical framework. The empirical enquiry discloses several noteworthy features, e.g. (i) with respect to spatial interaction there is a sharp contrast between stock markets and commodity markets. While there is almost perfect spatial arbitrage in the first case, this is not true for commodity markets. (ii) In spite of their chaotic behavior in the course of time commodity prices display well defined spatial patterns, (iii) as in statistical physics and fluid dynamics interactions can be described in terms of correlation length. The correlation length of a set of markets is seen to increase along with the number of transactions; it also increases when transport costs decline as was the case during the “transportation revolution” of the mid-nineteenth century. Using the notion of correlation length one is able to give a quantitative meaning to the otherwise ill-defined concept of market integration.
