Histograms are convenient non-parametric density estimators, which continue to be used ubiquitously. Summary quantities estimated from histogram-based probability density models depend on the choice of the number of bins. We introduce a straightforward data-based method of determining the optimal number of bins in a uniform bin-width histogram. By assigning a multinomial likelihood and a non-informative prior, we derive the posterior probability for the number of bins in a piecewise-constant density model given the data. In addition, we estimate the mean and standard deviations of the resulting bin heights, examine the effects of small sample sizes and digitized data, and demonstrate the application to multi-dimensional histograms.  相似文献

针对掌脉轮廓不清晰,图像对比度低、亮度低,进而导致识别性能降低的现象,提出一种自适应融合的手掌静脉增强方法。首先,基于暗原色先验(DCP)去雾算法,根据掌脉图像变异系数自适应选择去雾系数,得到DCP增强图像,并且基于部分子块重叠直方图均衡(POSHE)算法得到POSHE增强图像;然后,将图像分为16个子块,依据图像灰度均值与标准差确定各子块权重;最后,根据各子块权重对DCP和POSHE增强图像进行自适应融合,得到最终增强图像。该方法既保留了DCP算法在增强图像对比度和亮度的同时不引入明显噪声的优点,又保留了POSHE算法在增强图像对比度和亮度的同时不损失局部细节的特点;同时,两者的自适应融合既解决了DCP图像阴影部分掌脉缺失现象,又削弱了POSHE产生的块效应。在对两个公开库和自建库分别进行的实验中,三个数据库的等错误率分别为0.0004、0.0472、0.0579,识别率分别为99.98%、94.27%、92.05%。实验结果表明,与现有的图像增强方法相比,该方法降低了等错误率,提高了识别精度。  相似文献

By leveraging the secret data coding using the remainder storage based exploiting modification direction (RSBEMD), and the pixel change operation recording based on multi-segment left and right histogram shifting, a novel reversible data hiding (RHD) scheme is proposed in this paper. The secret data are first encoded by some specific pixel change operations to the pixels in groups. After that, multi-segment left and right histogram shifting based on threshold manipulation is implemented for recording the pixel change operations. Furthermore, a multiple embedding policy based on chess board prediction (CBP) and threshold manipulation is put forward, and the threshold can be adjusted to achieve adaptive data hiding. Experimental results and analysis show that it is reversible and can achieve good performance in capacity and imperceptibility compared with the existing methods.  相似文献

The physical properties of water cause light-induced degradation of underwater images. Light rapidly loses intensity as it travels in water, depending on the color spectrum wavelength. Visible light is absorbed at the longest wavelength first. Red and blue are the most and least absorbed, respectively. Underwater images with low contrast are captured due to the degradation effects of light spectrum. Therefore, the valuable information from these images cannot be fully extracted for further processing. The current study proposes a new method to improve the contrast and reduce the noise of underwater images. The proposed method integrates the modification of image histogram into two main color models, Red–Green–Blue (RGB) and Hue-Saturation-Value (HSV). In the RGB color model, the histogram of the dominant color channel (i.e., blue channel) is stretched toward the lower level, with a maximum limit of 95%, whereas the inferior color channel (i.e., red channel) is stretched toward the upper level, with a minimum limit of 5%. The color channel between the dominant and inferior color channels (i.e., green channel) is stretched to both directions within the whole dynamic range. All stretching processes in the RGB color model are shaped to follow the Rayleigh distribution. The image is converted into the HSV color model, wherein the S and V components are modified within the limit of 1% from the minimum and maximum values. Qualitative analysis reveals that the proposed method significantly enhances the image contrast, reduces the blue-green effect, and minimizes under- and over-enhanced areas in the output image. For quantitative analysis, the test with 300 underwater images shows that the proposed method produces average mean square error (MSE) and peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) of 76.76 and 31.13, respectively, which outperform six state-of-the-art methods.  相似文献

针对近红外光下现有的人眼定位算法普遍存在准确性不高、泛化能力不佳等问题,提出了一种基于方向梯度直方图(HOG)和支持向量机(SVM)相结合的双眼虹膜图像的人眼定位算法。利用HOG提取虹膜图像的人眼特征,并结合SVM分类器对HOG特征进行训练从而实现人眼的精确定位。为了减少漏检和误检,进一步提高定位准确率,又提出了多级级联SVM分类器算法;另外针对近红外光线下虹膜图像独特的灰度分布特点,设计了一种图像预处理方法,能够显著提高人眼定位速度。在MIR2016和CASIA-IRIS-Distance数据集上的实验结果表明,基于HOG和SVM的双眼虹膜图像的人眼定位算法具有高准确率、强泛化能力和高实时性。  相似文献

Histogram equalization (HE) method proved to be a simple and most effective technique for contrast enhancement of digital images. However it does not preserve the brightness and natural appearance of the images, which is a major drawback. To overcome this limitation, several Bi- and Multi-HE methods have been proposed. Although the Bi-HE methods significantly enhance the contrast and may preserve the brightness, the natural appearance of the images is not preserved as these methods suffer with the problem of intensity saturation. While Multi-HE methods are proposed to further maintain the brightness and natural appearance of images, but at the cost of contrast enhancement. In this paper, two novel Multi-HE methods for contrast enhancement of natural images, while preserving the brightness and natural appearance of the images, have been proposed. The technique involves decomposing the histogram of an input image into multiple segments based on mean or median values as thresholds. The narrow range segments are identified and are allocated full dynamic range before applying HE to each segment independently. Finally the combined equalized histogram is normalized to avoid the saturation of intensities and un-even distribution of bins. Simulation results show that, for the variety of test images (120 images) the proposed method enhances contrast while preserving brightness and natural appearance and outperforms contemporary methods both qualitatively and quantitatively. The statistical consistency of results has also been verified through ANOVA statistical tool.  相似文献

This paper shows a secured key-based (k, n) threshold cryptography scheme, where key as well as secret data is shared among set of participants. In this scheme, each share has some bytes missing and these missing bytes can be recovered from a set of exactly k shares, but not less than k. Therefore, each share contains partial secret information which is also encrypted by DNA encoding scheme. Additionally, this paper introduces a concept, where each share information size is varied. More precisely, each share contains a different percentage of secret information and which is strongly dependent on the key. Moreover key sensitivity analysis and statistical analysis prove the robustness against different cryptanalysis attacks and thus ensures high acceptability for information security requirements.  相似文献

In this paper, we develop an image pixel based histogram equalization model for image contrast enhancement. The approach is to propose a variational model containing an energy functional to adjust the pixel values of an input image directly so that the resulting histogram can be redistributed to be uniform. This idea is different from existing histogram equalization algorithms where a histogram based on the input image is constructed, a mapping is determined to output a uniform histogram and then the pixel values of the input image are adjusted based on the mapping. In the variational model, a mean brightness term is incorporated to preserve the brightness of the input image, and a geometry constraint can also be added to keep the geometry structure of the input image. Theoretically, the existence of the minimizer of the proposed model, and the convergence of the proposed algorithm are given. Experimental results are reported to demonstrate that the performance of the proposed model are competitive with the other testing histogram equalization methods for several testing images.  相似文献

The need for a robust reversible watermarking method has recently attracted more attention. This paper presents a novel robust reversible watermarking scheme based on using the Slantlet transform matrix to transform small blocks of the original image and hiding the watermark bits by modifying the mean values of the carrier subbands. The problem of overflow/underflow has been avoided by using histogram modification process. Extensive experimental tests based on 100 general images and 100 medical images demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed scheme. The proposed scheme has robustness against different kinds of attacks and the results prove that it is completely reversible with improved capacity, robustness, and invisibility in comparison with the previous methods.  相似文献
