华风气象影视大楼总面积4万平方米，根据空间功能不同分为办公大楼和商务写字楼两部分，办公大楼是集演播室、制作机房、办公室为一体的九层综合性建筑。设计师杨宇在刚接触到这个项目的时候，面对的是一个既成事实的建筑。     

Theory and design of a tapered line distributed photodetector

We present the theory and design of a tapered line distributed photodetector (TLDP). In the previously demonstrated velocity-matched distributed photodetector (VMDP), high electrical bandwidth is achieved by proper termination in the input end to absorb reverse traveling waves, sacrificing one-half of the quantum efficiency. By utilizing the tapered line structure and phase matching between optical waves and microwaves in our analyzed structure, a traveling-wave photodetector is more realizable and ultrahigh bandwidth can be attained due to removal of the extra input dummy load that sacrifices one-half of the total quantum efficiency. To investigate the advantages of TLDP over VMDP, we calculate their electrical bandwidth performances by using an analytic photodistributed current model. We adopted low-temperature-grown (LTG) GaAs-based metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) traveling-wave photodetectors as example unit active devices in the analytic bandwidth calculation for their high-speed and high-power performances. Both VMDP and TLDP in our simulation are assumed to be transferred onto glass substrates, which would achieve high microwave velocity/impedance and make radiation loss negligible. The simulated bandwidth of a properly designed LTG GaAs MSM TLDP is /spl sim/325 GHz, which is higher than the simulated bandwidth of the LTG GaAs MSM VMDP with an open-circuit input end (/spl sim/240 GHz) and is almost comparable to the simulated bandwidth of an input-terminated LTG GaAs MSM VMDP (/spl sim/330 GHz). This proposed method can be applied to the design of high-bandwidth distributed photodetectors for radio-frequency photonic systems and optoelectronic generation of high-power microwaves and millimeter waves.     

Failure loads for notched graphite/epoxy laminates with a softening strip

The strengths of two graphite/epoxy notched laminate systems with a softening strip were investigated. The softening strip was created by replacing the 0°-graphite/epoxy plies by a glass/epoxy composite. Experimental results indicated that the use of softening strips could significantly increase the laminate strength. Analysis was performed with finite elements developed using the classical laminated plate theory and was shown to be adequate. A simple point-stress failure criterion was used to predict the strength of notched laminates with softening strips and the result was found to be satisfactory.     

Modified atmosphere packaging of a mixed prepared vegetable salad dish

The aim of this study was to design a modified atmosphere package for a mixed vegetable salad consisting of 75 g of cut carrot, 55 g of cut cucumber, 20 g of sliced garlic and 50 g of whole green pepper. Respiration data of all the components were combined with film permeability data to predict package atmospheres and design optimal packages for experimental testing for improved shelf-life of the produce. The optimal package avoided minimum O₂ and maximum CO₂ tolerance limits, and chilling injury temperatures for any component. A pouch form package made of 27 mm low density polyethylene developed a modified atmosphere of 2.0–2.1% O₂ and 5.5–5.7% CO₂, which was beneficial for all components and provided better quality retention than other test packages.     

Low cycle fatigue and creep behavior of recrystallized Molybdenum near room termperature

The deformation behavior of pure recrystallized molybdenum under cyclic and static loads was investigated in the temperature range between 30°C and 10O°C, for stress amplitudes between 100 MPa and 250 MPa and for static loads up to 200 MPa. The results show that in spite of the low test temperatures and stress levels the Mo material exhibits considerable plastic strains which depend sensitively on frequenez and small changes in temperature.The activation energy deduced for the static and dynamic deformation is less than 0.98 eV which indicates thermally activated processes, to be explained by a dislocation kink model as described in the literature. The low-temperature fatigue behavior appears strongly influenced by creep-fatigue interaction phenomena.     

Highly compact AC-AC converter achieving a high voltage transferratio

This paper reports a new, highly integrated modular design approach for pulsewidth-modulation AC-AC converters based on a modular phase-bank structure. Novel high-power 3-in-1 integrated bi-directional power modules (IBPM) rated at 1200-V AC and 150 A and the 3-to-1 phase bank circuits have been successfully developed, fabricated and tested. This enables the modularity design of the multiphase converter systems and reduces the critical parasitic inductance. A theoretical analysis of the IBPM's silicon utilization for this new breed of direct power converters has been outlined. A lab prototype at medium power level has been successfully designed, implemented, and tested with good results. A nearly 460-VRMS out voltage at a 1:0.955 voltage transfer ratio, which, perhaps, is the highest performance reported so far in the literature, has been achieved by the novel two-side modulation control system. The converter-fed AC motor system is able to operate over the 0-240 Hz range with inherent regenerative capability and four-quadrant operation. Potential industrial applications are also briefly highlighted in this paper

A Petri net based approach to modeling and scheduling for an FMSand a case study

In this paper, a timed-place Petri net (TPPN) model for flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) is constructed, which contains two major submodels: the stationary transportation model; and the variable process flow model. For multiple automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems, the authors embed a simple rule and introduce a push-AGV strategy in a TPPN model to solve the collision and traffic jam problems of such vehicles. Since a firing sequence of the TPPN from the initial marking to the final marking can be seen as a schedule of the modeled FMS, by using an A^* based search algorithm, namely, the limited-expansion A algorithm, an effective schedule of the part processing can be obtained. To show the promising potential of the proposed work, a prototype FMS is used as a target system for implementation. The experiment results assert that the job-shop scheduling problem can always be satisfactorily solved     

Using thermally stimulated currents to find defective capacitors

BaTiO₃ multilayer capacitors with a nominal capacitance of 3.5nF have been carefully measured using the thermally stimulated current (TSC) technique. When a 300V polarization voltage is applied at room temperature, a new TSC peak appeared in defective sample A after it has been immersed in water. No new peak was found in good-quality sample B after a similar treatment. The accelerated life test shows that sample A hasa much shorter life than sample B in terms of insulation resistance.
