The development of feasible kinematic assessment methods of upper extremity motor function impairment after stroke is clinically extremely important in physiotherapy and rehabilitation engineering. Microsoft Kinect has a potential of a low-cost and compact solution for clinical based assessment of the upper limb motor function after stroke. However, the reliability of Microsoft Kinect in the upper limb motor function assessment has not been well established. Therefore, there is a hesitation in usage of Microsoft Kinect for clinical applications. It is expected that any measurement procedure has the capability to differentiate between pathological and normal performance. On the other hand, the identification of the kinematic metrics that best evaluate impairment of upper-extremity motor function is a key problem of any measurement protocol. Primary objective of our study is, by differentiating pathological performance from the healthy performance and identifying the kinematic metrics that best evaluate the impairment, to demonstrate the robustness/usability of Microsoft Kinect in kinematic analysis of motor performance of stroke patients. We compared the kinematic metrics of the forward reaching movement obtained data recorded from Microsoft Kinect between three stroke patients and two healthy subjects based on the Principal Component Analysis (PCA). In the study, we have defined a new inter-joint coordination index (IJCI) based on PCA to capture inter-joint coordination dynamic of reaching movement in addition to other metrics those have been previously defined and used in literature to quantify upper limb impairment. We observed that the IJCI has significant importance to detect impairment of upper-extremity motor function during a forward reaching task and to discriminate stroke patients from healthy controls.We hope that this paper will promote the acceptance of objective kinematic analysis into routine rehabilitation practices.  相似文献

The influence of stroke deviation on the power extraction performance of a fully-active flapping foil is numerically investigated in this work. A NACA0015 airfoil placed in a two-dimensional laminar flow is employed to extract power from the flow. It synchronously executes a rotational motion and a translational motion. In the traditional flapping foil based power extraction system, the foil only translates in vertical direction (heaving motion). In the current study, however, the foil can translate in both horizontal direction (surging motion) and vertical direction, which is attributed to the stroke deviation of a flapping wing. At a Reynolds number of 1100 and the position of the rotating axis at one-third chord, the effects of the amplitude of horizontal motion, the phase difference between the horizontal motion and the vertical motion as well as the frequency of horizontal motion on the power extraction performance are examined in detail. It is shown that compared with the traditional flapping foil, the efficiency improvement of power extraction for the flapping foil with additional horizontal motion can be achieved. Based on the numerical analysis, it is found that the enhanced power extraction from the vertical motion, which is induced by the increased lift force under appropriate horizontal motion, directly benefits the efficiency enhancement.  相似文献

Techniques for calculating the stroke directions of thinned binary characters and for detecting the intersections and end points of strokes by means of pattern matching and weighting method are proposed as a preprocessing of handwritten Chinese character recognition. We also propose a method for global classification of handwritten Chinese characters by means of projection profiles of strokes and show that the method is available for the Chinese characters written in the square style.  相似文献

手写体汉字字符切分是离线汉字字符识别预处理中的一个重要问题,针对离线手写体汉字,提出一种基于笔划提取和合并的手写体汉字字符切分算法。该算法首先基于方向游程提取汉字的笔划,并建立笔划框,再根据汉字笔划的结构知识对笔划框进行合并,得到字符的切分结果。该算法能较好地解决粘连汉字字符的切分问题,对从现场随机采集的2500封手写体信函地址汉字进行切分,单字正确率可达91.5%。  相似文献

At present, the over-travel measurement of high-voltage circuit breakers is mostly carried out after the circuit breaker is completely dismantled. The disadvantage of the measurement is that it can only be measured when the circuit breaker is dismantled and overhauled. Defects are diagnosed in a timely and effective manner, and capacity causes hidden troubles. This article provides a method for direct measurement of hydraulic circuit breakers without any adjustment or disassembly. The method can be carried out in various situations such as minor repairs, major repairs, and temporary repairs, which not only saves time, but also improves accuracy of the measurement. The comparative test results show that this method can be simple, convenient and effective to measure the overtravel of the high-voltage circuit breaker.  相似文献
