The exposure assessment was carried out for Staphylococcus aureus in kimbab by predicting growth of S. aureus and the production of enterotoxin using Food MicroModel® program. Environmental parameters selected were pH 5.5, Aw 0.999, and storage temperatures in the range of 10 to 30°C. It was predicted that 6.3 hr could be a critical time for enterotoxin production while kimbab was stored at 30°C. Mild case scenario analysis showed that enterotoxin could not be produced if kimbab was kept at 10°C during preparation and distribution and then left at 25°C for 4 hr before consumption. In the worst case scenario, the keeping time at 25°C was assumed to be 7.0 hr. The level of S. aureus in the worst case was predicted to be 6.8×106 CFU/g which is lower than the critical level (7.8×106 CFU/g) for toxin production.  相似文献

This paper presents the physical mechanism behind the phenomenon of self-layering in thin films made by industrial scale cathodic arc deposition systems using compound Ti-Si-C cathodes and rotating substrate fixture. For the as-deposited films, electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry reveals a trapezoid modulation in Si content in the substrate normal direction, with a period of 4 to 23 nm dependent on cathode configuration. This is caused by preferential resputtering of Si by the energetic deposition flux incident at high incidence angles, when the substrates are facing away from the cathodes. The Ti-rich sub-layers exhibit TiC grains with sizes up to 5 nm, while layers with high Si-content are less crystalline. The nanoindentation hardness of the films increases with decreasing layer thickness.  相似文献

Modeling spatial variation in microbial degradation of pesticides in soil   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Currently, no general guidance is available on suitable approaches for dealing with spatial variation in the first-order pesticide degradation rate constant k even though it is a very sensitive parameter and often highly variable at the field, catchment, and regional scales. Supported by some mechanistic reasoning, we propose a simple general modeling approach to predict k from the sorption constant, which reflects bioavailability, and easily measurable surrogate variables for microbial biomass/activity (organic carbon and clay contents). The soil depth was also explicitly included as an additional predictor variable. This approach was tested in a meta-analysis of available literature data using bootstrapped partial least-squares regression. It explained 73% of the variation in k for the 19 pesticide-study combinations (n = 212) in the database. When 4 of the 19 pesticide-study combinations were excluded (n = 169), the approach explained 80% of the variation in the degradation rate constant. We conclude that the approach shows promise as an effective way to account for the effects of bioavailability and microbial activity on microbial pesticide degradation in large-scale model applications.  相似文献

The authors assess the possible impact of optics on database and knowledge base systems, focusing on storage, interconnection, and processing. Various types of optical disks and page-oriented holographic memories are discussed. In the interconnection section, data communication is discussed at a variety of levels. Under processing, applications involving optical content addressable memories, optical data/knowledge base machines, and optics applied to full text processing will be optoelectronic, with easy technology providing its strength to the problem under consideration. It is noted that optical interconnection is superior to electronic interconnection in many cases and that the rapid advance of optical storage holds the potential of hundreds of megabytes per second data rates from a single storage unit. The overall process necessary to perform spatial and temporal data composition for a distributed multimedia information system is addressed. With respect to delays introduced through the network, it is found that temporal composition can be most suitably achieved at the workstation. Spatial composition is most effectively performed in a hierarchical fashion as dictated by the availability of system resources. The subsequent composition methodology combines spatial and temporal composition as a network service. Database organizations and data distributions are also investigated, and spatial and temporal composition functions and their composition into the network architecture are discussed. We analyze a wideband spectrum in a cognitive radio (CR) network by employing the optimal adaptive multiband sensing‐time joint detection framework. This framework detects a wideband M‐ary quadrature amplitude modulation (M‐QAM) primary signal over multiple nonoverlapping narrowband Gaussian channels, using the energy detection technique so as to maximize the throughput in CR networks while limiting interference with the primary network. The signal detection problem is formulated as an optimization problem to maximize the aggregate achievable secondary throughput capacity by jointly optimizing the sensing duration and individual detection thresholds under the overall interference imposed on the primary network. It is shown that the detection problems can be solved as convex optimization problems if certain practical constraints are applied. Simulation results show that the framework under consideration achieves much better performance for M‐QAM than for binary phase‐shift keying or any real modulation scheme.  相似文献

Total oil was extracted from ground fish head of Longtail tuna (Thunnus tonggol) using supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2) at 20 to 40 MPa, 45 to 65 °C and 1 to 3 ml min?1. Response surface methodology (RSM) was employed to optimize the operating conditions of the SC-CO2 technique where the highest oil yield was obtained (35.6% on dry weight basis) at 40 MPa, 65 °C, and 3 ml min?1. The solubility of the oil in SC-CO2 increased from 2.9 to 14.2 g oil/100 g of CO2 with increasing pressure and temperature. The total saturated, monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids obtained were 41.6, 24.7 and 26.8%, respectively, where the omega-3 fatty acids were found to be 22.3%. A correlation was developed determining the coefficients of the second-order polynomial equation where the extraction parameters of SC-CO2 method to extract fish oil from fish sample were successfully optimized using response surface methodology.  相似文献

Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) powder was used to substitute 0%, 2%, 4%, 6% and 8% of wheat flour for making turmeric wheat breads. Proximate composition, physical quality, functional components (curcumin and total phenols) and antioxidant properties of breads containing turmeric were analysed and compared with those of wheat bread. Hardness, crumb colour a and b values, curcumin content and total phenolic contents of breads significantly increased with the addition of turmeric powder. Water activity, specific volume and crumb colour L value of breads decreased with the addition of turmeric powder. Breads containing turmeric powder also showed good antioxidant activity as tested by the β-carotene-linoleate bleaching assay. A 4% substitution of wheat flour with turmeric powder showed acceptable sensory scores which were comparable to wheat bread. Breads containing turmeric powder can thus be developed as a health-promoting functional food.  相似文献

The emergence of gigabit local area networks (G-LANs) has spurred a tremendous interest in supporting networked multimedia applications over a LAN. In this paper, we propose a mechanism for dynamically allocating network resources in asynchronous LANs. Presentation of multimedia objects with required play-out quality requires Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees by the underlying networking infrastructure. Existing asynchronous LANs, such as Ethernet, do not support the notion of QoS due to their asynchronous media access protocol. For such networks, we propose a dynamic bandwidth management scheme that uses the concept of Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA). Significant performance improvement is observed through experimental results. In particular, the transmission rates for multimedia hosts improve significantly with low jitter variations in media streams. We also propose a framework for graceful degradation of play-out quality of multimedia objects in case the LAN's total capacity is not sufficient to meet the overall demand.  相似文献
