This paper presents a systematic noise analysis method for externally linear filters, suitable for hand calculations. As an illustrative example, a log-domain filter is analyzed. Applying this method to an abstract topology, bounds for signal-to-noise ratio are derived for a class of instantaneous companding filters, when total capacitance or total power are limited.  相似文献

Factor substitution in Greek manufacturing during the 1980s is examined, using pooled data in static and dynamic translog expenditure share models. Inputs are capital, labor, electricity and non-electrical energy (liquid, solid, gas). Own-price elasticities for capital and labor are inelastic, but for electricity more elastic (−0.90). Results indicate substitutability among factors in the short run. In the long run, electricity and capital are complements, as are labor and non-electrical energy. Greek manufacturing is predicted to continue decreased consumption of liquid fuels to the year 2000, continuing the electrification begun in the 1970s.  相似文献

A model fuel cell with a single transparent straight flow channel and segmented anode was constructed to measure the direct correlation of liquid water movement with the local currents along the flow channel. Water drops emerge through the largest pores of the GDL with the size of the droplets that emerge on the surface determined by the size of the pore and its location under the gas flow channel or under the land. Gravity, surface tension, and the shearing force from the gas flow control the movement of liquid in the gas flow channel. By creating a single large diameter pore in the GDL, liquid water flow emergent from the GDL was forced to be in specific locations along the length of the channel and either under the land or under the channel. The effects of gravity were amplified when the large pore was under the channel, but diminished with the large pore under the land. Current fluctuations were minimised when the dominant water transport from the GDL pore was near the cathode outlet. The results show that it is possible to engineer the water distribution in PEM fuel cells by modifying the pore sizes in the GDL.  相似文献

Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is an optimization algorithm considered to be highly efficient for the solution of complicated problems. This paper presents the application of this method for the design optimization of photovoltaic grid-connected systems (PVGCSs). The purpose of the proposed methodology is to locate the optimal number of system devices and the optimal values of the PV module installation details, such that the total net economic benefit achieved during the system operational lifetime period is maximized. The optimization's decision variables are the optimal number of the PV modules, the PV modules optimal tilt angle, the optimal placement of the PV modules within the available installation area and the optimal distribution of the PV modules among the DC/AC converters. The objective function of the proposed optimization process is the lifetime system's total net profit which is calculated according to the method of the Net Present Value (NPV). The methodology's resulting system structures are economically evaluated through the methods of the discounted payback time and the Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The PSO algorithm is compared to the application of Genetic Algorithms (GAs) in terms of efficiency for the current problem.  相似文献

The B‐ISDN will carry a variety of traffic types: the Variable Bit Rate traffic (VBR), of which compressed video is an example, Continuous Bit Rate traffic (CBR), of which telemetry is an example, Data traffic, and Available Bit Rate traffic (ABR) that represents aggregate data traffic with very limited guarantees on quality. Of these, VBR and CBR have timing constraints and need synchronous bandwidth; data traffic is relatively delay insensitive. In this paper, we consider the VBR, Data and ABR traffic types and obtain the cumulative distribution function (cdf) of the queueing delay experienced by a burst of ABR traffic in the output buffer of an ATM switch. The cdf is used to trade off buffer loss probabilities against deadline violation probabilities through adjusting the buffer size and (delay) deadline values. Large buffers result in low losses but queueing delays can become excessive and cause a high level of deadline violations. Both losses and violations are detrimental and an operating point must be chosen to achieve a balance. In this paper we study the nature of the trade off. We develop a stochastic Petri net model assuming periodic burst arrivals for VBR and Poisson arrival processes for the Data and ABR traffic types at the burst level, and solve the model analytically (numerically) using a decomposition approach. This decomposition, along with the inherent decomposability of the tagged customer approach for obtaining the cdf opens up a possibility of carrying out fast computations using a parallel machine for selecting the operating point each time that a call is admitted. Digital libraries constitute a relatively young scientific field whose life spans roughly the last 10 years. Despite its youth, the field has made a long journey from its initial conception to the present state of the art and has reached a level of maturity that warrants taking stock of its course so far and paving a path for the immediate and long-term future. In this paper, we analyse the recommendations of several activities that were initiated by the DELOS Network of Excellence under the Fifth Framework Programme of the European Commission and demonstrate that there are several issues that arise in similar form in most digital library efforts. We thus conclude that generic digital library management systems that address all these issues in a common fashion can and should be developed, so that future digital library efforts are able to build on such platforms and focus only on the hard issues that specialised functionality raises.  相似文献

Riding a motorcycle under the influence of alcohol is a dangerous activity, especially considering the high vulnerability of motorcyclists. The present research investigates the factors that affect the declared frequency of drink-riding among motorcyclists in Europe and explores regional differences. Data were collected from the SARTRE-4 (Social Attitudes to Road Traffic Risk in Europe) survey, which was conducted in 19 countries. A total sample of 4483 motorcyclists was interviewed by using a face-to-face questionnaire. The data were analyzed by means of multilevel ordered logit models. The results revealed significant regional differences (between Northern, Eastern and Southern European countries) in drink-riding frequencies in Europe. In general, declared drinking and riding were positively associated with gender (males), increased exposure, underestimation of risk, friends’ behaviour, past accidents and alcohol ticket experience. On the other hand, it was negatively associated with underestimation of the amount of alcohol allowed before driving, and support for more severe penalties.  相似文献
