The focus of this paper is on the development of an analytical damage model for predicting the deterioration of the mechanical properties of polyester (PET) ropes subjected to static tension loading. Experimental data on small PET ropes are used to estimate the evolution of damage using the effective stress concept and the principle of strain equivalence. The proposed damage model relies on an empirically based cumulative scalar damage function, which is founded on the assumption that the strain range experienced by rope elements is the main source of damage under static tension loading conditions. In this particular study, the evolution of the damage function is represented by both power law and polynomial forms. Based on experimental observations, softening behavior is developed by rope elements after reaching their maximum load-carrying capacities. This softening behavior is captured by the damage function through an asymptotic expansion technique (perturbation method). Comparisons between predicted rope responses and experimental data are provided to illustrate the use of the proposed damage model to estimate PET rope response.  相似文献

Presented herein are ice-tank data concerning ice-rubble loads against a moored conical platform. Of prime interest is how rubble-ice loads are influenced by horizontal stiffness of the platform’s mooring system. An important, and heretofore undocumented, feature of rubble loading and clearing around the platform is the accumulation of ice rubble as a false bow, or prow, at the platform’s leading perimeter. The ice-tank data show that, under certain conditions of ice-rubble loading, the lowest stiffness of mooring tested resulted in prow instability and sloughing, which in turn lead to a cyclic pattern of loading, and to rubble congestion around the platform. An outcome of such rubble congestion was a marked increase in the overall rubble-ice load exerted against the platform.  相似文献

深水锚缆在波浪、海流等环境载荷的作用下在三维空间内产生运动,形成较为复杂的运动轨迹构形,对锚缆浮式结构产生了较大的作用力,存在锚缆在环境载荷作用下的大位移、大转动的几何非线性干扰.传统的基于悬链线理论的三维运动仿真方法在非线性干扰的情况下,无法准确仿真三维浮动特征点,仿真效果较差.为此提出一种新的锚缆三维运动仿真的方法.针对锚缆在环境载荷作用下的大位移、大转动的几何非线性问题,采用细长杆模型和拓展的拉伸方程进行时域三维数值计算仿真;结合三维图形库VPython解决缆索的三维模型的可视化抖动问题,并借助多线程方法提高仿真效率.以数据文件作为数值计算程序和可视化仿真程序进行仿真.结果表明新方法较为完善地联接了锚泊系统运动仿真的核心计算模块和后处理模块,锚泊运动仿真过程计算准确快速、可视化仿真效果流畅.  相似文献

Model calibration and parametric studies of the coupled, complex surge-heave motions of a medium-scale experimental, nonlinear, submerged, moored structural system are presented here. The experimental system excited by periodic wave fields consists of a spherical buoy and attached multipoint mooring lines. Sources of nonlinearity include complex geometric restoring forces and coupled fluid–structure interaction exciting forces. The sphere moves mainly in a two-dimensional fashion [or two degrees of freedom (2DOF)] of surge and heave, with negligible pitch. Characteristic experimental results include harmonic, subharmonic, and superharmonic responses. As an extension of single-degree-of-freedom, independent-flow-field (IFF) models, a 2DOF, IFF model is derived and employed. Good agreement is shown between the analytical predictions and experimental results. Existence of complex nonlinear responses, including chaos and multiple coexisting steady states, are numerically identified when the coupling is strong and damping is light. Degree of complexity and nonlinearity of responses diminish with decreasing coupling and/or increasing damping.  相似文献
