The effects of phase control materials on hand skin temperature within gloves of soccer goalkeepers

In soccer, goalkeepers routinely wear gloves that may restrict heat loss from the hands and cause thermal discomfort. In order to alleviate this problem phase control materials (PCMs) have been incorporated into gloves to reduce heat load inside the glove, thereby maintaining a comfortable temperature. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of these materials during a simulation of goalkeeping activities. Seven subjects carried out two sessions of goalkeeperspecific exercise on a non-motorized treadmill, one session with a PCM glove and one session with a normal foam material glove (NFM). All sites of skin temperature measurement, except mean whole-body skin temperature, showed uniformly that the PCM glove caused a greater increase in skin temperature of the hand compared to the NFM glove. These results suggest that this particular specification of PCM promotes heat gain rather than heat loss and is therefore inappropriate to enhance thermal comfort in this setting.

An ergonomic garment design for elderly Turkish men

This paper presents an ergonomic garment design for elderly Turkish men. The purpose of this study was to determine elderly men's demands, needs and problems in regard to clothing and to design an ergonomic garment in the light of this knowledge. The sample consisted of 120 elderly men living in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, and its province. A questionnaire was prepared and given to these people in order to determine their clothing demands and needs. It was established that most of our subjects need functional garments. An ergonomic garment has been designed using the obtained data. It was found that the design of clothing for the elderly requires attention to bodily changes from aging in order to facilitate and raise the quality of life. Specific suggestions are made to elderly people and to the ready-to-wear sector.

On the name discrimination of Han faction costume北大核心CSCD

As a product of the economic development in 1990s, "Han faction costume" has nothing to do with the theory of science. "Han faction costume" had its name first, but its essence was not seen. The fact has proven that it has become a hindrance to the development of clothing industry in Wuhan. On the contrary, academic circles in Wuhan have been using this concept. Through literature research and field interviews, the origin and development status of "Han faction costume" is expounded in this paper. It is believed that as factional clothing, "Han faction costume" has never existed in theory. It is just an economic geographical concept. If we blindly do conceptual hype and do not carry out the design and integration of regional styles, it is difficult to form the healthy development of clothing industry chain. The concept of "Han faction costume" will only hinder the development of local garment enterprises in Wuhan. So it is suggested that the concept of "Han faction costume" should not be used for the time being. © 2018 China Silk Association. All rights reserved.
