Ionic mass transfer measurements in the case of submerged multijets impinging on to a flat surface

In the case of submerged multijets impinging on to a flat surface, the limiting current densities were measured at microelectrodes, fixed flush with the target surface using diffusion controlled electrode reactions (i.e. reduction of ferricyanide ion). The height of the multijet distributor from the target surface (Y) was varied from 5 to 9 cm. The numbers of holes of the distributor (N) studied were 76 and 141. The variation of mass transfer data with radial distance reveals the existence of two different regions, i.e. the impingement region and the wall jet region. The mass transfer rate increased with increase in Y in the impingement region. The effect of Y is negligible in the wall jet region. Decrease in N decreases the mass transfer rate in both the regions. The data are correlated separately for the two regions.     

Development and implementation of a NURBS curve motion interpolator

This paper deals with the issues of development and implementation of a real-time NURBS interpolator for a six-axis robot. Using an open-architecture controller system as a testbed, a real-time NURBS curve interpolator was developed, implemented and tested. Sample runs were conducted with the resulting trajectories measured in real-time during robot motion. The resulting trajectories are analyzed, discussed and compared with those from a commonly used point-to-point approximation technique. The real-time NURBS curve interpolator's feasibility, advantages and related issues are also discussed.     

Optimizing a multiserver queuing system with a variable number of servers

A multiserver Poisson queuing system with losses, with a variable number of servers, and an additive quality functional is investigated. Nonnegative integral subset representations of integer sets

We consider an integer-subset representation problem motivated by a medical application in radiation therapy. We prove NP-completeness, derive nontrivial bounds, and report on the performance of a greedy heuristic.     

OCT-M FCC 汽油深度加氢脱硫技术的研究及工业应用

比较研究了MIP汽油与常规FCC汽油的特点，考察了抚顺石油化工研究院(FRIPP)开发的OCT-M催化汽油选择性加氢脱硫技术由MIP汽油与FCC汽油生产硫含量≯50µg/g汽油的情况下的辛烷值损失。工业应用结果表明，OCT-M技术将MIP汽油硫含量由417～442µg/g降低到24～53µg/g，RON损失0.7～1.8个单位。因此，OCT-M技术可为我国炼厂生产硫含量≯50µg/g的清洁汽油提供经济、灵活的技术方案。     

On methods of defuzzification of parametrically represented fuzzy numbers

A comparative analysis of such methods of defuzzification of fuzzy numbers as WABL (Weighted Averaging Based on Levels), centroid, and mean of maxima (MOM) is presented in the study. Analytic formulas are presented for calculating the defuzzification values for parametrically represented fuzzy numbers of triangular and trapezoidal form.     

Comparative study on adaptive rational macromodels of highly resonant structures

Two macromodeling techniques using rational bases are investigated to accurately predict the natural frequencies of highly resonant microwave structures. Three methods are proposed and compared to calculate pole‐free solutions to the Thiele continued fraction and vector fitting pole‐residue models of the characteristic equation det[Z(s)]. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A simple correlation for estimating viscosities of solutions of salts in aqueous,non-aqueous and mixed solvents applicable to high concentration,temperature and pressure

A new correlation is proposed to correlate the viscosities of salt solutions in aqueous, non-aqueous solvents and their mixtures. The correlation involves two parameters i.e. solvation number and ion-solvent interaction coefficient, which are well-documented quantities in the literature. The proposed correlation has been examined on the experimental viscosity data of salt solutions in aqueous, non-aqueous and their mixtures up to 473 K and 31 MPa pressure. The salts with various ionic charges were employed for testing the proposed correlation. Several non-aqueous solvents like dimethyl sulphoxide, alcohols and formamide were included for the data regression. The viscosities of these solutions can be correlated to within 0.7%.
