The concept map is now widely accepted as an instrument for the assessment of conceptual knowledge and is increasingly being embedded into technology-based environments. Usability addresses how appropriate (for a particular use) or how user-friendly a computer-based assessment instrument is. As we know from human-computer interaction research, if the interface is not user-friendly, a computer-based assessment can result in decreased test performance and reduced validity. This means that the usability of the interface affects the assessment in such a way that if the test is not user-friendly, then the test taker will not be able to fully demonstrate his/her level of proficiency and will instead be scored according to his/her information and communication technology (ICT) literacy skills. The guidelines of the International Test Commission (2006) require usability testing for such instruments and suggest that design standards be implemented. However, we do not know whether computer-conducted concept map assessments fulfill these standards. The present paper addresses this aspect. We conducted a systematic research review to examine whether and how researchers have studied and considered usability when conducting computer-based concept map assessments. Only 24 out of 119 journal articles that assessed computer-based concept maps discussed the usability issue in some way. Nevertheless, our review brings to light the idea that the impact of usability on computer-based concept map assessments is an issue that has received insufficient attention. In addition, usability ensures a suitable interaction between test taker and test device; thus, the training effort required for test use can be reduced if a test's usability is straight forward. Our literature review, however, illustrates that the interplay between usability and test use training has mostly been neglected in current studies.  相似文献

Introduction: Patient reported outcomes (PROs) are a critical metric documenting the impact of disease and treatment from the patient's perspective. A variety of generic and disease specific PRO measures (PROMs) are used in chronic kidney disease (CKD) but studies are primarily cross‐sectional. None of the available PROMs are designed for frequent iterative application. Methods: An online PROM for daily use in dialysis and CKD 4/5 patients was developed. The custom website utilised visual analogue scales to capture 6 PROs (general well being (GWB), pain, sleep, breathing, energy, and appetite). Outcomes of interest were uptake, response rates, intermodality variation, and change in PRO corresponding to predefined events. Findings: Forty‐three patients submitted at least once and 34 submitted beyond 30 days. Median follow‐up was 247 days, 64% male, age 62 ± 12 years. In individuals submitting for >30 days, dialysis patients had significantly worse median scores compared to CKD for sleep (47[32–80], 97[76–99], P = 0.003), appetite (66[50–96], 97[88–100], P = 0.008), energy (47[40–89], 84[67–96], P = 0.031), and GWB (63[49–94], 93[71–98], P = 0.026). Patients demonstrated a variety of stable bandwidths of response, deviations from this were associated with specific events e.g., acute admission, vascular procedures, disturbed fluid status, and dialysis start. Discussion: We successfully introduced an online, patient acceptable, iterative PROM that discriminates symptom burden, cross‐sectionally, and longitudinally. Further work will prospectively examine the predictive power of changes in PRO and more rigorously investigate the potential use of these methods to optimise patient care.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of multimedia strategies for instructional techniques and practice on non-native novices' Chinese character learning performance and cognitive load. Two types of multimedia instructional presentations – radical-highlighted and stroke-pronunciation – and two types of practice – visual cue and voice cue – were implemented. Participants were 81 non-native novices randomly assigned to one of the four experimental groups, namely radical-highlighted visual-cue, radical-highlighted voice-cue, stroke-pronunciation visual-cue and stroke-pronunciation voice-cue. An Internet-based e-learning course on the basis of Chinese characters was implemented and delivered as experimental instruction using a Moodle platform. The results show that, for non-native novices, the stroke-pronunciation (SP) strategy of showing strokes with pronunciations is better than the radical-highlighted (RH) strategy, enabling the novices to achieve better performance in identifying Chinese radicals. The significant two-way interactions suggest that (1) the SP presentation should be delivered with the voice-cue (VoC) practice to elicit better performance in writing and in identifying characters and strokes, and (2) the RH presentation should be delivered with visual-cue (ViC) practice to elicit better performance in character writing. Furthermore, participants showed similar levels of perceived cognitive load toward the stroke-based task and the radical-based task. However, when the SP presentation was delivered with the VoC practice, participants revealed lower perceived cognitive load toward the writing task.  相似文献

The information needs of a complex society are not met by an information-flow technology invented and developed in traditional societies. This article provides a theoretical framework derived from modern systems theory by which to understand the technology of public opinion policy formation in guidance operations of a complex society. Qualitative models of information flow systems are presented together with a discussion of the kind of society each information flow technology produces. Since its inception in 1995, the WebQuest instructional model has received substantial attention from educators who have applied it to teaching activities. However, WebQuest has seldom been applied to mathematical teaching. Therefore, exploring curriculum development and learning achievement in mathematical teaching that integrates the WebQuest model is necessary. The objective of this study is to explore using the WebQuest model for teaching the concepts of proportion in elementary school mathematics, and the subsequent effects on student learning achievements. Furthermore, this study endeavors to understand student learning attitudes and learning satisfaction regarding the WebQuest model. This study employed the quasi-experimental research method, and the participants were two sixth-grade classes with 52 students at a Taiwanese elementary school. The experimental group was taught using WebQuest, while the control group was taught by employing the traditional IT-integrated curriculum. The two groups completed a 5-week course on proportion concepts. The study results indicate the following: (a) Regarding learning achievements, students who learned with the WebQuest model demonstrated superior learning performance than students who were taught using the traditional IT-integrated curriculum; (b) no significant difference existed between the learning attitudes of students who were taught using the WebQuest model and those who learned with the traditional IT-integrated curriculum; (c) on the learning-satisfaction survey, the students who learned with the WebQuest model showed high learning satisfaction, selecting between agree and strongly agree for the 6 dimensions, including WebQuest teaching, IT capability, the assistance of mathematics curriculum, collaborative learning, learning reflection, and learning feedback. This indicates that the students were largely satisfied and identified with the task-oriented WebQuest learning curriculum that was designed in this study. Finally, specific recommendations are made based on the results, providing teachers and future researchers with a reference for integrating the WebQuest model in the mathematics field.  相似文献

This paper argues that the rapid growth of gambling‐related tourism and urban construction in Macau has given rise to serious environmental degradation. The major environmental issues include air quality, water supply, solid waste disposal, noise prevention, heritage conservation and environmental management. The author suggests that the government in Macau should refocus this city’s development direction and commit itself to sustainable development. At the policy‐making level, there are such urgent issues as integration of environmental, economic and urban planning with community participation in decision‐making; enhancement of environmental legislation and institutions; implementing vital measures to control of the numbers of visitors; developing a mass transport system; and protecting the city’s cultural heritage.  相似文献

矿产资源勘查面临的外部环境问题日益受到业界重视。实现地质勘查工作转型,是适应新时代地质工作要求,兼顾找矿突破战略、生态文明建设等目标的必然选择。青海省地质勘查工作面临的外部环境问题,严重影响了"358地质勘查工程"目标的顺利实现。外部环境问题包括地质勘查会破坏脆弱的生态环境,进而影响到农牧民的生产生活,以及神山问题等。经过不断努力探索,多彩整装勘查区绿色和谐勘查的成功经验,为外部环境问题的解决找到了可行方案,但绿色和谐勘查模式的推广还面临着一些现实问题和理论挑战。只有转变思维方式,运用共享价值理论来指导矿产勘查工作,既要做到绿色勘查,又要做到和谐勘查,才能根本上解决外部环境问题。  相似文献
