旅游学术语的定义及其逻辑关系

文章以逻辑学的概念明确化为研究视角,对旅游、旅行等旅游学基础概念的内涵与外延辨析做了简要回顾,一般性地阐述了旅游生态与生态旅游、旅游文化与文化旅游这二组概念之间的区别,并对"休闲旅游"概念的合理性提出了质疑。文章认为,只有对科学技术名称概念明确化并规范化使用,才有利于旅游学科的建设和发展。

从语言和思维科学的角度，分析了体育界在使用语言和思维方面存在的问题。提示体育工作应加强逻辑思维修养，正确认识体育与竞技的本质区别与联系。

对海峡两岸在信息领域常用科技名词术语使用过程中遇到的问题进行了分析,对两岸的科技术语存在着音义、简繁体不同进行了分类对比。认为可以将两岸科技名词术语按对比的类型,采用术语库形式予以存储。这既能促进两岸在科技、文化和语言上的相互融合,又能方便两岸对科技名词术语的使用和计算机查询。     

Assessment for learning: sectarian divisions of terminology and concepts

Assessment is critical to support and align learning and teaching within the curriculum. Yet our understanding of the many layers of assessment is still incomplete. This article examines some of the differences between critical elements of assessment terminology across the compulsory and higher education sectors in the anglophone world, more specifically in the United Kingdom. Highlighting these differences is important, so that we are able to make informed pedagogical decisions.

This article signals that there is much to do in the area of assessment to arrive at a clearer understanding of recent developments within each sector. This is necessary if academics' expertise can be used across sector divides. By highlighting these differences, it is possible to address misunderstandings to fulfil the role of assessment adequately in supporting learning and teaching.     

Inclusive Information for Trans* Persons

This article articulates the numerous barriers that limit library use by trans* persons and explains practical ways these barriers can be eliminated so that trans* patrons can get the information and insights they want and need. The article also includes worksheets that library professionals can use to address trans* patrons' information issues and provide inclusive information services.

SUMMARY

This introduction to Africana reference describes the populations of researchers, the kinds of questions they ask, and how librarians–both specialist and generalist–may respond. It explores issues in “known-item” searches, including name authority and access to material in collected works and series. Choices made by authors, publishers, indexers, librarians, and researchers themselves have an impact on topic searches. Terminology for African languages, ethnic groups, place names, and topics cause problems for novice researchers, but library policy decisions can also impede access. Errors of all kinds–minor or major–can block access to information. The speed of electronic desktop publishing seems to have encouraged reduced care with proofreading, indexing, and verification of quotations and citations. The need for accurate information about Africa is great, but the market for publications and electronic resources focused on Africa is relatively small. This low market share can result in less coverage of Africa in indexes and reference tools. Despite the difficulties encountered in researching Africa, researchers and the librarians who assist them benefit from the tools, services, and initiatives of specialist Africana librarians and from a number of commercially produced resources.
