The Gas-to-Particle Heat Transfer and Hydrodynamics in Spouted Bed Drying of Sawdust

This article presents experimental results for spouted bed drying of sawdust, carried out in a full-scale as well as in a laboratory-scale dryer using air as well as steam as drying media. The aim is to present design parameters for a spouted-bed sawdust dryer that can be used by the industry in designing full-scale dryers. A hydrodynamically stable spouted jet spouted bed was obtained. The heat transfer characteristics of the bed were represented in terms of a volumetric heat transfer coefficient (VHC). When sawdust is dried in a spouted bed, the mean VHC is increasing up to fiber saturation level (20-25% wb) from 40 to 110 W/m³ K. The VHC decreases with the residence time and with an increased static bed height. Gas temperature profiles are also presented for the bottom part of the drying chamber.

INDIRECT ACCELERATED ADAPTIVE FUZZY CONTROLLER

According to a type of normal nonlinear system, an indirect adaptive fuzzy （IAF） controller has been applied to those systems where no accurate mathematical models of the systems under control are available. To satisfy with system performance, an indirect accelerated adaptive fuzzy （IAAF） controller is proposed, and its general form is presented. The general form IAAF controller ensures necessary control criteria and system＇s global stability using Lyapunov Theorem. It has been proved that the close-loop system error converges to a small neighborhood of equilibrium point. The optimal IAAF controller is derived to guarantee the process＇s shortest settling time. Simulation results indicate the IAAF controller make the system more stable, accurate, and fast.

Lean philosophy: implementation in a forging company

This research addresses the implementation of lean philosophy in a forging company with a focus on radial forging production flow lines. Here, the prime motive is to evolve and test several strategies to eliminate waste on the shop floor. In this research, a systematic approach is suggested for the implementation of lean principles. This paper describes an application of value stream mapping (VSM). Consequently, the present and future states of value stream maps are constructed to improve the production process by identifying waste and its sources. Furthermore, Taguchi’s method of design of experiments is pursued here to minimize the forging defects produced due to imperfect operating conditions. A noticeable reduction in set-up time and work-in-process (WIP) inventory level is substantiated. Finally, we conclude with a discussion of managerial implications and the future scope of research.

黄委中游水文测区由于处在经济落后地区，当地电信部门通讯发展滞后。多年来各报汛水文站通讯手段主要依靠无线短波电台相互联系。近几年，随着电信部门移动通讯网络的快速发展，移动网络已基本覆盖中游水文测区所属各报汛水文站点。手机短信传递已经成为一种十分成熟的技术，通过对手机短信应用功能的开发，建立基于SMS的水情信息传输系统，将极大地提高中游水文测区水情传递的时效性和可靠性。     

Stabilizing decentralized model predictive control of nonlinear systems

This note presents a stabilizing decentralized model predictive control (MPC) algorithm for nonlinear discrete time systems. No information is assumed to be exchanged between local control laws. The stability proof relies on the inclusion of a contractive constraint in the formulation of the MPC problem.     

Real-time measurement of pointing action by using DSP

This paper presents an approach of measuring in real-time the vector of finger that is pointing to an object. DSP is used in the operation processing unit in order to do the real-time processing. The steps include the extraction of flesh-colored regions from an image, the labeling of the flesh-colored regions, and the detection of two characteristic positions on the finger so that the direction that the finger is pointing at will be calculated. The entire process takes about 29 msec, which makes it possible to have the frame rate of 34 fps. With this frame rate, this measurement approach is considered real-time and promising to be merged into other application systems. 基于VB的动画方法及应用

为了实现利用VisualBasic编程语言实现动画模拟的功能,文章以对运动目标跟踪的计算机模拟为例,提出和实现了用该语言实现动画的各种方法,介绍了每种方法的原理并通过程序示例证明其达到了相应的动画效果。     

计算机高速并行通信的实现方案

利用CPLD芯片实现单片机与ISA总线接口之间的高速并行通信，给出系统的总体设计方法及程序框图。采用这种通信方式，在12MHz晶振的MCS51单片机控制的数据采集系统中，可以满足与PCI04 ISA总线接口实时通信的要求，通信速率达200khit／s。在开发工具MAX plusⅡ下，完成了整个设计的输入、编译和仿真，达到了预期效果。本设计方案能够推广应用到计算机的高速并行通信中。
