Exceptions that prove the rule--Using a theory of motivated social cognition to account for ideological incongruities and political anomalies: Reply to Greenberg and Jonas (2003).

A meta-analysis by J. T. Jost, J. Glaser, A. W. Kruglanski, and F. J. Sulloway (2003) concluded that political conservatism is partially motivated by the management of uncertainty and threat. In this reply to J. Greenberg and E. Jonas (2003), conceptual issues are clarified, numerous political anomalies are explained, and alleged counterexamples are incorporated with a dynamic model that takes into account differences between "young" and "old" movements. Studies directly pitting the rigidity-of-the-right hypothesis against the ideological extremity hypothesis demonstrate strong support for the former. Medium to large effect sizes describe relations between political conservatism and dogmatism and intolerance of ambiguity; lack of openness to experience; uncertainty avoidance; personal needs for order, structure, and closure; fear of death; and system threat. Visual thinking in arts education: Homage to Rudolf Arnheim.

The influence of Arnheim's work on the author's research began with an experiment on the perception of visual balance. Two later research projects emerged from the profound influence of Arnheim's stance toward creation in the visual arts as a serious, cognitive endeavor. A series of meta-analyses were first conducted to test the claim that learning in the arts transfers to nonarts cognitive domains, but little evidence was found. Past research on the transfer hypothesis was found to be lacking because of its failure to assess learning in the parent domain. Therefore, a new research project was carried out to identify kinds of learning in the parent domain of visual arts. We identified eight thinking dispositions developed in serious visual arts classes, setting the stage for more plausible transfer studies. This study demonstrates that the visual arts inculcate basic skills in perception and cognition that exist both in the arts and sciences. All of the skills the authors describe can, with some modification, be transferred to the science laboratory. As Rudolf Arnheim has taught us, visual thinking is everywhere. Emergency department status boards: user-evolved artefacts for inter- and intra-group coordination

Large, easily viewed status boards are commonly used in some healthcare settings such as emergency departments, operating theaters, intensive care units, and inpatient wards. Because these artefacts were developed by front-line users, and have little to no supervisory or regulatory control, they offer valuable insights into the theories of work and hazard held by those users. Although the status boards case were locally developed over many years for within-group coordination, they have also become useful for between-group coordination across organizational boundaries. In this paper, we compare and contrast the use of such status boards in two disparate settings: a US emergency department, and a UK pediatric ward, and note striking similarities in their form and usage, despite the large differences in setting.

电梯门机控制系统的运行曲线设计

为了实现电梯轿厢门的开门和关门快速且平稳地运行，介绍了一种基于高性能微型机的门机控制系统结构和门位移的检测原理，以门位移量作为控制系统的反馈量，对门机运行速度进行了分区设计。在高速附近的变化区，门机速度匀速变化时，进行了门机开门和关门控制曲线的计算，推导出运行位移与门机速度具有二次曲线的关系，进而对微型机控制的软件流程进行了设计，达到了门机高低速运行的平稳过渡。最后，给出了实际运行系统的主电路电压波形。     

Complementary Justice: Effects of "Poor but Happy" and "Poor but Honest" Stereotype Exemplars on System Justification and Implicit Activation of the Justice Motive.

It was hypothesized that exposure to complementary representations of the poor as happier and more honest than the rich would lead to increased support for the status quo. In Study 1, exposure to "poor but happy" and "rich but miserable" stereotype exemplars led people to score higher on a general measure of system justification, compared with people who were exposed to noncomplementary exemplars. Study 2 replicated this effect with "poor but honest" and "rich but dishonest" complementary stereotypes. In Studies 3 and 4, exposure to noncomplementary stereotype exemplars implicitly activated justice concerns, as indicated by faster reaction times to justice-related than neutral words in a lexical decision task. Evidence also suggested that the Protestant work ethic may moderate the effects of stereotype exposure on explicit system justification (but not implicit activation). 铝钛双金属板KR曲线测定

利用宽３００ｍｍ、长／宽＝１的横向ＣＴＴ试样对国产铝钛双金属板做了常规力学性能测定，并按航标测定了ＫＲ曲线，经过柔度法和Ｋ值计算，分别测得了ＫＲｉ和ａｉ数据，确定了临界的ＫＣ值通过性能数据对比，研制的材料达到了进口料的性能要求。     

一种弧长参数曲线及其计算机实现

本文提出了一种弧长参数曲线的数值算法，这种算法具有收敛迅速，迭代过程自动确定等优点。     

产量递减规律的诊断方法

传统的Arps产量递减分析方法要求事先选定递减规律的初始时间、初始产量及初始递减率,事实上这些参数是很难确定的。实际应用时不得不人为地加以臆断而使得此方法带有不确定性.为此提出了产量递减规律的诊断方法。应用诊断曲线很容易确定递减规律的模型参数,克服常规方法的不足。通过选用参考时间、参考产量和参考递减率,使得递减分析方法具有一定的灵活性和优越性、该方法简便、实用。
