To develop x-ray mirrors for micropore optics, smooth silicon (111) sidewalls obtained after anisotropic wet etching of a silicon (110) wafer were studied. A sample device with 19 microm wide (111) sidewalls was fabricated using a 220 microm thick silicon (110) wafer and potassium hydroxide solution. For what we believe to be the first time, x-ray reflection on the (111) sidewalls was detected in the angular response measurement. Compared to ray-tracing simulations, the surface roughness of the sidewalls was estimated to be 3-5 nm, which is consistent with the atomic force microscope and the surface profiler measurements.  相似文献

The thermostability enhancement of Flavobacterium meningosepticumglycerol kinase (FGK) by random mutagenesis in the subunit interfaceregion was investigated. A single Escherichia coli transformant,which produced a more thermostable glycerol kinase than theparent enzyme, was obtained. The nucleotide sequence of thegene of the mutant enzyme (FGK2615) was determined, and thefour amino acid replacements were identified as Glu327 to Asp,Ser329 to Asp, Thr330 to Ala and Ser334 to Lys. Although theproperties of FGK2615 were fundamentally similar to those ofthe parent enzyme, the thermostability and Km for ATP had changed.The thermostability of FGK2615 was apparently increased; thetemperature at which the enzyme activity is inactivated by 50%for a 30-min incubation of FGK2615 was determined to be 72.1°Cwhich was 3.1°C higher than that of the parent FGK. Fouradditional mutants each having a single amino acid replacement(Glu327 to Asp, Ser329 to Asp, Thr330 to Ala and Ser334 to Lys)were prepared and their thermostability and Km for substrateswere evaluated. The effect of the substitution of Ser329 toAsp is discussed.  相似文献

In previous research on subsonic diagonal‐type MHD generators, the authors have proposed a conceptual design with relatively low Mach number in order to stabilize the MHD generator of commercial scale and have shown that the MHD generator works stably under constant‐current loading condition. In the present paper, effects of loading conditions on stability of the MHD generator are examined. A channel‐length scale linear stability analysis and time‐dependent calculations are carried out, where both gasdynamical boundary conditions and loading condition are taken into account. These analyses show that the MHD generator behaves stably under various loading conditions such as constant‐voltage loading condition and ohmic loading condition. Then the stability of the MHD generator connected with an ac power system is also analyzed by time‐dependent calculations. Chorioamnionitis (CAM) is an increasingly common disease affecting pregnant women which derives from bacterial vaginosis. In different clinical cases, it has been shown that CAM can cause multiple risk factors for fetal brain damage, such as infection, and intra-uterine asphyxia. However, the molecular mechanism remains unknown. In this study, we established a novel CAM mouse model by exposing pregnant mice to a combination of three risk factors: vaginal lipopolysaccharides (LPS), amniotic LPS, and ischemic reperfusion. We found amniotic LPS caused Parkinson’s disease-like fetal brain damage, in a dose and time-dependent manner. Moreover, the mechanism of this fetal brain damage is apoptosis induced by amniotic LPS but it was inhibited by being pretreated with a vaginal LPS challenge before amniotic LPS injection. In contrast, amniotic LPS with continuous ischemic reperfusion caused a higher level of apoptotic cell death than amniotic LPS alone. In particular, a potential neuroprotective biomarker phosphorylation (p)-CREB (ser133) appeared in only vaginal LPS preconditioned before amniotic LPS, whereas ischemic reperfusion triggered IKK phosphorylation after amniotic LPS. Despite the need for many future investigations, this study also discussed a developed understanding of the molecular mechanism of how these phenotypes occurred.  相似文献

A few authors have reasonably proposed that liquid–liquid phase-separated (LLPS) glasses could show improved fracture strength, Sf, and toughness, KIc, as the second phase could provide a barrier to crack propagation via deflection, bowing, trapping, or bridging. Due to the associated tensile or compressive residual stresses, the second phase could also act as a toughening or a weakening mechanism. In this work, we investigated five glasses of the PbO–B2O3–Al2O3 system spanning across the miscibility gap: Four of them undergo LLPS—three are binodal (two B2O3-rich and one PbO-rich) and one is spinodal—and one does not show LLPS (composition outside the miscibility gap). Their compositions were designed in such a way that the amorphous particles are under compressive residual stresses in some and under tensile residual stresses in others. The following mechanical properties were determined: the Vickers hardness, ball on three balls (B3B) strength, and toughness, KIc-SEVNB (single-edge V-notch beam [SEVNB]). The microstructures and compositions were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy with energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The spinodal glass showed, by far, the best mechanical properties. Its KIc-SEVNB = 1.6 ± 0.1 MPa m1/2, which embodies an increase of almost 50% over the B2O3-rich binodal composition, and 90% considering the PbO-rich binodal composition. Moreover, its fracture strength, Sf = 166 ± 7 MPa, is one of the highest ones ever reported for an LLPS glass. Fracture analyses evidenced that the spinodal composition exhibited the lowest net stress at the fracture point. Moreover, calculations indicate that the internal residual stress level is the lowest in the spinodal glass. The overall results indicate that the microstructural effect of the spinodal glass is the most significant factor for its superior mechanical properties. This work corroborates the idea that LLPS provides a feasible and stimulating solution to improve the mechanical properties of glasses.  相似文献

Rechargeable aqueous zinc (Zn)-ion batteries (RAZIBs), which use non-flammable aqueous electrolytes and low-cost electrode materials, show great potential to boost the development of safe, cost-effective, and highly efficient energy storage systems. The adoption of lightweight and inexpensive aluminum (Al) as current collectors seems to be a good vision, but Al exhibits an easily-corroded nature and a high impedance in aqueous electrolytes, making it a challenge to realize the utilization of Al current collector in RAZIBs. In this study, through the direct current magnetron sputtering, niobium (Nb) coated Al (Al-Nb) foils are prepared, which shows superior corrosion-resistance in an aqueous solution, while maintaining a satisfying electronic conductivity. Moreover, the Al-Nb foils can be adopted to both anode and cathode current collectors while exhibiting high coulombic efficiency and good cycling stability even when they are tested under a condition that can meet the real-world application demands, e.g., the Zn||Al-Nb half-cell shows an average coulombic efficiency of 99.17% in 320 cycles under a current density of 25 mA cm−2 and a galvanizing capacity of 6.25 mAh cm−2. The superior performance of the modified Al current collectors may mark a significant step toward the development of high-energy-density aqueous batteries.  相似文献

It is essential to etch SiO2 for producing silica glass components, semiconductor devices, and so on. Although wet-etching with hydrogen fluoride (HF) solutions is usually employed for this purpose, it faces a drawback that microstructures stick during the drying of the solution. To overcome this problem, we have developed a dry-etching technique with gaseous HF at high temperatures. In the present study, an interesting phenomenon was found that silicon thermal oxides were much less etched than vitreous silica by gaseous HF. Such difference had not been found in wet- or humid HF gas etching. Because their bulk chemical formulae are the same (SiO2), it was suggested that the surface species affected the reaction rate. In fact, preprocessing with water vapor plasma remarkably increased the etching rate on the thermal oxides layer, and vacuum heating almost completely suppressed the reaction on the vitreous silica and the plasma-treated thermal oxides. These results indicate that the surface silanol groups enhance the reaction between SiO2 and gaseous HF. Based on the results, a model of chain reaction for SiO2 and gaseous HF was proposed, where the surface silanol groups act as the reaction center.  相似文献
