The aim of this work is to study the effect of phase composition and microstructure of cordierite-based co-clinkers on the electrical properties and coefficient of thermal expansion of cordierite briquettes. To achieve this aim talc and kaolinite samples were collected from quarries in the Egyptian desert. The samples are characterized using XRD, XRF, polarized light, cathodoluminescence and SEM microscopy attached with EDAX, in addition to X-ray micro-computed tomography (3D- µXCT). The electrical properties and coefficient of thermal expansion of the cordierite briquettes are determined using HiTESTER instrument and automatic Netzsch DIL402 PC dilatometer, respectively.Five talc-based batches were shaped and fired in the temperature range 1000–1350 °C for 2 h. The microstructural and physical characteristics of the resulted cordierite-based co-clinkers depend mainly on the viscosity of the liquid phase developed during firing. The microchemistry of the cordierite briquettes confirms their enrichment of both cordierite and ferroan-cordierite crystallized directly from locally developed melts. The dielectric constant and loss factor values for cordierite briquettes allow their possible use as insulator components in electronic applications.  相似文献

The working principle of an optical isolator made of two corrugated dielectric gratings is introduced. One grating acts as a polarizer, and the other acts as a quarter-wave plate used in conical incidence converting linearly polarized light into circularly polarized light. Global maxima of diffraction efficiency for surface-corrugated gratings with binary, sinusoidal, and pyramidal ridge shapes with dependence on the material index are identified. Regarding technological feasibility for use in the visible wavelength range, high-frequency gratings with a binary shape were realized. With these gratings, an extinction ratio of more than 40 dB for the polarizer is theoretically possible, and more than 20 dB was experimentally achieved. A good correlation between theoretically calculated efficiencies and birefringences based on rigorous methods and the experimental results is demonstrated.  相似文献

This paper proposes a biologically inspired and technically implemented sound localization system to robustly estimate the position of a sound source in the frontal azimuthal half-plane. For localization, binaural cues are extracted using cochleagrams generated by a cochlear model that serve as input to the system. The basic idea of the model is to separately measure interaural time differences and interaural level differences for a number of frequencies and process these measurements as a whole. This leads to two-dimensional frequency versus time-delay representations of binaural cues, so-called activity maps. A probabilistic evaluation is presented to estimate the position of a sound source over time based on these activity maps. Learned reference maps for different azimuthal positions are integrated into the computation to gain time-dependent discrete conditional probabilities. At every timestep these probabilities are combined over frequencies and binaural cues to estimate the sound source position. In addition, they are propagated over time to improve position estimation. This leads to a system that is able to localize audible signals, for example human speech signals, even in reverberating environments.  相似文献

This paper deals with the explicit analysis of infinite periodic structures under arbitrary loadings. In the context or structural stiffness optimization, with its inherent problem of multiple reanalysis, the purpose is to obtain expressions for the stress resultants anywhere in the infinite structure as an explicit function of the stiffnesses of the elements. Following the method of the representative cell the analysis of an infinite structures is reduced to the analysis of single module under transformed loading and boundary conditions by using the discrete Fourier transform. This produces the equilibrium, strain-displacements and constitutive equations in terms of complex-valued displacements, generalized strains and generalized stresses transforms. Next an existing formula is used to write the stress resultants transforms explicitly in terms of the stiffnesses. Finally one computes the stress resultants wherever needed in the real structure by means of the inverse Fourier transform. The exact formula for the stress resultants is usually impractical due to the large number of terms involved in the analytical expressions. What makes the approach practical herein is the very reduced size of the repeating module that is to be analysed, which renders the analytical formula more tractable in many cases. The technique is illustrated with the explicit analysis of an infinite truss with 1D translational symmetry and of an infinite grid of orthogonal beams on elastic supports with 2D translational symmetry. The electronic structure of tetragonal (RC(N))m(TB)2, m=1–3, compounds, with R= Y,Lu,La, T=Ni,Pt is studied. Total and partial densities of states N(E) are calculated and compared with orbital resolved x-ray absorption data. Special attention is paid to the structure of N(E) near the Fermi-level and its consequences for thermodynamic properties in the superconducting and the normal states. A medium el-ph coupling constant 0.5 1.2 is found. There is no simple correlation between N(0) and T c . The analysis of the upper critical field reveals the presence of at least two groups of electrons with quite different Fermi velocities v F in accord with dHvA data, and with calculated distributions of v F around the Fermi surface  相似文献

The activities of some enzymes of glycerolipid synthesis and fatty acid oxidation were measured in subcellular fractions of the yolk sac membrane (YSM), an extra-embryonic tissue that mediates the transfer of lipid from the yolk to the circulation of the chick embryo. The activities of monoacylglycerol acyltransferase and carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1 in the YSM (respectively, 284.8±13.2 nmol/min/mg microsomal protein and 145.6±9.1 nmol/min/mg mitochondrial protein; mean ±SE; n=4) at day 12 of development appear to be the highest yet reported for any animal tissue. Also, the carnitine palmitoyl transferase-1 of the YSM was very insensitive to inhibition by malonyl CoA. The maximal activities of glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase and diacylglycerol acyltransferase in the YSM (respectively, 26.7±2.2 and 36.1±2.1 nmol/min/mg microsomal protein) were also high compared with the reported values for various animal tissues. The very high enzymic capacity for glycerolipid synthesis supports the hypothesis that the yolk-derived lipids are subjected to hydrolysis followed by reesterification during transit across the YSM. The monoacylglycerol pathway appears to be the main route for glycerolipid resynthesis in the YSM. The results also suggest that the YSM has the capacity to perform simultaneously β-oxidation at a high rate in order to provide energy for the lipid transfer process.  相似文献

Site-directed mutagenesis was used to identify the veratryl alcohol binding site of lignin peroxidase. The cDNA encoding isozyme H8 was mutated at Glu146 to both an Ala and a Ser residue. The H8 polypeptide was produced by E. coli as inclusion bodies and refolded to yield active enzyme. The wild type recombinant enzyme and the mutants were purified to homogeneity and characterized by steady state kinetics. The kcat is decreased for both mutants of Glu146. The reactivity of mutants (kcat/Km) toward H2O2 were not affected. In contrast, the kcat/Km of the mutants for veratryl alcohol were decreased by at least half. The oxidation of guaiacol by these mutants were more significantly affected. These results collectively suggest that E146 plays a central role in the binding of veratryl alcohol by lignin peroxidase.  相似文献

In this work the behaviour of hard coated light-metal components was investigated when they are mechanically loaded. Three lightmetal alloys, Ti-6Al-4V, AlSi7Mg and AlMgSi0.5 and 100Cr6 steel (as a reference material) were coated by two different physical vapour deposition processes: radio frequency magnetron sputtering and electron beam evaporation. The coating materials utilised were CrN and TiN. Standard test methods with different loading conditions were used to evaluate the substrate/coating-combinations: the hardness test (applying a static normal load), the scratch test (applying a combination of a static normal and a static tangential force) and the impact test (applying a dynamic normal load). It was observed that the load support of coated materials depends on the loading conditions. The coated aluminium alloys showed poor load support under all loading test conditions but produced a higher surface hardness than uncoated steel. Coated Ti-6Al-4V showed very good load support properties, similar to coated steel. All coated light-metal substrates demonstrated significant improvement in load support behaviour with an increase in coating thickness. The results of the scratch test, which is commonly used to asses adhesion properties of thin coatings, showed an immediate indenter-breakthrough on the aluminium alloy substrates, but causing no coating delamination. Due to this behaviour, the scratch test is not suitable to evaluate adhesion properties on coated soft light-metals. Yet the impact test allowed assessment of coating delamination on the aluminium alloys, proving its usefulness for adhesion measurement even on soft substrates. The study indicates that substitution of steel with coated lightmetal alloys is a viable proposition for certain applications.  相似文献

Most high-resolution (HR) direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation schemes require the extraction of a low-dimensional subspace: a task that takes O(N3) flops for an order S matrix. Different techniques have been recently proposed to reduce this computational load. For those working on blocks of data, the number of flops required is generally O(N2P), where P, which is the dimension of the subspace (the number of sources), is often quite small as compared with N, which is the number of sensors. The method we propose is a HR technique that requires O(NP2)+O(P3) flops, i.e., that is linear in the number of sensors. The price to be paid for this drastic computational saving is a reduction in performance. Although the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) on the variance of the direction estimates is of the order T-1 N-3 (with T the number of snapshots), this variance is of order T-1 N-2 for the proposed procedure. The idea behind the method is to apply a Pisarenko method to a rectangular matrix extracted from the Toeplerized estimated covariance matrix, and it is this Toeplerization that allows preservation of the O(T-1 N-2) level of performance  相似文献
