Nanofiltration PA6/EVOH membranes were prepared through a nonsolvent induced phase separation technique. The effects of polymer concentration in the solution and solvent evaporation time on the performance and morphology of the resulting membranes were investigated by cloud point titration, permeation, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Experimental cloud point data for various prepared membranes suggested that polymer solutions with higher concentrations of PA6/EVOH need a less content of nonsolvent. SEM observations show that an increase in polymer concentration leads to formation of a thin dense layer on the surface of the membrane thanks to pore size reduction. However, dense top layer of membrane becomes thicker as polymer concentration increases from 15 wt% to 20 wt%. The performance of membranes reveals a decrease with polymer concentration in casting solution. By contrast, Polyamide/Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl alcohol) membranes show an optimal performance with various formic acid evaporation times. J. VINYL ADDIT. The observation that snakes and spiders are found faster among flowers and mushrooms than vice versa and that this search advantage is independent of set size supports the notion that fear-relevant stimuli are processed preferentially in a dedicated fear module. Experiment 1 replicated the faster identification of snakes and spiders but also found a set size effect in a blocked, but not in a mixed-trial, sequence. Experiment 2 failed to find faster identification of snake and spider deviants relative to other animals among flowers and mushrooms and provided evidence for a search advantage for pictures of animals, irrespective of their fear relevance. These findings suggest that results from the present visual search task cannot support the notion of preferential processing of fear relevance. This paper presents the design and evaluation of an adaptive streaming mechanism from multiple senders to a single receiver in Peer-to-Peer (P2P) networks, called P2P Adaptive Layered Streaming, or PALS. PALS is a receiver-driven mechanism. It enables a receiver peer to orchestrate quality adaptive streaming of a single, layer-encoded video stream from multiple congestion-controlled senders, and is able to support a spectrum of noninteractive streaming applications. The primary challenge in the design of a streaming mechanism from multiple senders is that available bandwidth from individual peers is not known a priori, and could significantly change during delivery. In PALS, the receiver periodically performs quality adaptation based on the aggregate bandwidth from all senders to determine: (i) the overall quality (i.e number of layers) that can be collectively delivered by all senders, and more importantly (ii) the specific subset of packets that should be delivered by individual senders in order to gracefully cope with any sudden change in their bandwidth. Our detailed simulation-based evaluations illustrate that PALS can effectively cope with several angles of dynamics in the system including: bandwidth variations, peer participation, and partially available content at different peers. We also demonstrate the importance of coordination among senders and examine key design tradeoffs for the PALS mechanism. She received her BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Iran in 2002. Her research interests include Peer-to-Peer streaming and multimedia caching. Reza Rejaie is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer and Information Science at the University of Oregon. From October 1999 to March 2002, he was a Senior Technical Staff member at AT&T Labs-Research in Menlo Park, California. He received a NSF CAREER Award for his work on P2P streaming in 2005. Reza has served on the editorial board of IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials, as well as the program committee of major networking conferences including INFOCOM, ICNP, Global Internet, ACM Multimedia, IEEE Multimedia, NOSSDAV, ICDCS, and MMCN. Reza received his MS and PhD degrees in Computer Science from the University of Southern California (USC) in 1996 and 1999, and his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology (Tehran, Iran) in 1991, respectively. In the present research, porous hydroxyapatite/collagen/graphene oxide (HA/COL/GO) nanocomposites were synthesized using the freeze-drying method for naproxen delivery. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) techniques were applied to analyze the synthesized specimens. In addition, the loading of naproxen and release behavior (pH 7.4 and T?=?37 °C) of the prepared nanocomposites were studied via UV–Vis spectrophotometry. The FE-SEM analysis revealed that HA/COL/GO nano-composites had a rod-like structure and the morphological change in the HA/COL/GO nano-composites confirmed that graphene oxide (GO) sheets and HA/COL nano-particles were successfully incorporated where the nanocomposites were synthesized with size smaller than 50 nm. BET analysis was utilized to confirm the meso and macrostructure of specimens with an average pore diameter within 15–103 nm as well as the BET surface area of 21–178 m2/g. The application of synthesized samples for naproxen delivery in vitro was investigated. As the weight ratio of GO increased, so did the percentage of drug-loading; for the HA/COL/GO-3 sample where the graphene oxide (GO) amount was maximum, the percentage of drug loading capacity (LC%) and percentage of encapsulation efficiency (EE%) were obtained 38.7% and 84.8%, respectively. Naproxen release results in phosphate buffer saline (PBS) confirmed that the initial release occurred in all synthesized nanocomposites within the first 24 h, after which the release rate gradually declined to about 14 days. Under optimal conditions, the HA/COL/GO-3 sample retained about 39.2% of the loaded drug after 14 days, as some of the drug molecules were deeply embedded in the HA/COL/GO-3 sample. Furthermore, the results revealed that the degradation rates of the synthesized nanocomposites can be controlled by adjusting the amount of graphene oxide (GO). Thus, the results show that the samples synthesized in this research can suitable candidates for continuous release of naproxen and bone tissue engineering.

Terbium-doped cadmium sulfide nanoparticles with different terbium contents were successfully synthesized via sonochemical route. The prepared samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, photoelectron X-ray spectroscopy, and UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy techniques. The as-prepared nanocatalyst were used for sonocatalytic degradation of Methylene Blue. Among the different amounts of dopant, 8 % Tb-doped CdS showed the highest sonocatalytic activity. The order of inhibitory effect of radical scavengers was 1, 4 Benzoquinone > SO3 2? > CO2 3?> I?. The effects of various parameters such as initial dye concentration, catalyst loading, ultrasonic power, and the presence of radical scavengers were investigated.  相似文献

Pure Fe was severely deformed by a combination of shaped cold rolling and cold drawing. X-ray diffraction profiles analysis was applied in accordance with the Williamson-Hall (WH) and modified Williamson-Hall (MWH) methods to identify crystallite sizes of the deformed specimens. It was found that some differences exist between the results of WH and MWH procedures using the hkl dependent Young’s modulus or considering the average dislocation contrast factor. The latter method is more accurate and enables the determination of the character of dislocations in plastically deformed Fe. It was shown that by increasing deformation strain, the screw dislocations dominated. The enhancement of hardness occurs in the deformed Fe due to grain refinement, dislocation accumulation and deformation-induced vacancies.  相似文献

Core-sheath nanofibrous yarns were obtained through electrospinning of polyamide 6 (PA6) solution containing different concentrations of multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) as sheath and PVA multifilament as the yarn core. By dissolving PVA, for obtaining conductive hollow nanofibrous PA6/MWNTs yarn, two types of porosity could be obtained including hollow central tube due to the structure of hollow yarn and nano-porous areas embedded in electrospun nanofibers. SEM results showed that the diameters of nanofibers were varying in the range of 103–145 nm obeying MWNTs concentrations and TEM results revealed that the MWNTs were embedded in nanofiber matrix as straight and aligned form. DSC analysis showed that electrospinning process caused the formation of less-ordered γ phase in nanofibers. The electrical conductivity of yarns increased from 10?13 S m?1 to 2.4?×?10?6 S m?1 with increasing the concentration of nanotubes from 0 wt.% to 7 wt.%.  相似文献

Climate change has made many alterations to the climate of earth, including hydro-climatic extreme events. To investigate the impact of climate change on hydro-meteorological droughts in the Kamal-Saleh dam basin in Markazi province, Iran, proportional to future climate conditions, a new and comprehensive index was developed with the aim of accurately estimating drought in a more realistic condition. This aggregate drought index (ADI) represented the main meteorological and hydrological characteristics of drought. Temperature and precipitation projections for future climates were simulated by five CMIP5 models and downscaled over the study area during 2050s (2040–2069) and 2080s (2070–2099) relative to the baseline period (1976–2005). By fitting five univariate distribution functions on drought severity and duration, proper marginal distributions were selected. The joint distribution of drought severity and duration was chosen from five types of copula functions. The results revealed that in future, severe droughts are expected to frequently occur in a shorter period.

Research in the field of tissue engineering, especially heart tissue engineering, is growing rapidly. Herein, the morphological, chemical, mechanical and biological properties of poly (caprolactone) (PCL)/poly (glycerol sebacate) (PGS) and PCL/PGS/graphene nanofibrous scaffolds are investigated. Initially, PGS pre-polymer is synthesized and characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies. Then, in order to use the benefits of PGS, this polymer is mixed with PCL. Blending PGS with PCL resulted in the enhancement of ultimate elongation and reduction in the elastic modulus due to the intrinsic properties of PGS. The hydrophobicity of PCL nanofibers is reduced by adding PGS as hydrophilic polymer (105 ± 3° vs. 44 ± 2°). Also, the addition of graphene to the blend nanofibers is balanced the hydrophilicity. Degradation rate of pure PCL nanofibers is very slow but it is increased in the presence of PGS. All nanofibrous scaffolds are biocompatible and non-toxic. The highest cell adhesion (covered area = 0.916 ± 0.032) and biocompatibility (98.79 ± 1%) are related to PCL/PGS loaded with 1% wt of graphene (PCL/PGS/graphene 1). Thus, this sample can be a good candidate for further examinations of cardiac tissue engineering.  相似文献
