This paper introduces an approach of enhancing the tourism experience by incorporating a tool that adopts a “web-to-mobile” model into tourism websites that allows for the adaptation of personalized tourism web content to be transferred to a mobile application hosted at users’ mobile device. These applications upon installation to mobile devices allow for browsing of adapted multimedia content with no requirement for constant network connection. Furthermore so we convey the development experiences of a multiplatform mobile tourist guide aimed at producing a personalized mobile guide application used in both an online and offline modes offering services to tourists such as a personal profiling-based recommendation system, a commenting system and location-based services. This paper focuses on the design, implementation and usability case study of a Multi-Platform Tourist Guide system for the Municipal Council of Mytilene, Greece.  相似文献

We present a nested multigrid method to optimize time-periodic, parabolic, partial differential equations (PDE). We consider a quadratic tracking objective with a linear parabolic PDE constraint. The first order optimality conditions, given by a coupled system of boundary value problems can be rewritten as an Fredholm integral equation of the second kind, which is solved by a multigrid of the second kind. The evaluation of the integral operator consists of solving sequentially a boundary value problem for respectively the state and the adjoints. Both problems are solved efficiently by a time-periodic space-time multigrid method.  相似文献

Agents that must reach agreements with other agents need to reason about how their preferences, judgments, and beliefs might be aggregated with those of others by the social choice mechanisms that govern their interactions. The emerging field of judgment aggregation studies aggregation from a logical perspective, and considers how multiple sets of logical formulae can be aggregated to a single consistent set. As a special case, judgment aggregation can be seen to subsume classical preference aggregation. We present a modal logic that is intended to support reasoning about judgment aggregation scenarios (and hence, as a special case, about preference aggregation): the logical language is interpreted directly in judgment aggregation rules. We present a sound and complete axiomatisation. We show that the logic can express aggregation rules such as majority voting; rule properties such as independence; and results such as the discursive paradox, Arrow’s theorem and Condorcet’s paradox—which are derivable as formal theorems of the logic. The logic is parameterised in such a way that it can be used as a general framework for comparing the logical properties of different types of aggregation—including classical preference aggregation. As a case study we present a logical study of, including a formal proof of, the neutrality lemma, the main ingredient in a well-known proof of Arrow’s theorem.  相似文献

The increasing complexity of today’s reactive embedded applications can rapidly result in reduced real-time capabilities of the underlying hard and software. As an example for this paper we’ll refer to the specific and growing demands on the severely resource constrained sensor nodes in sensor/actuator networks (SANet). While preemptive operating systems are one way to retain acceptable reactivity within highly dynamic environments, their concurrency paradigm commonly leads to severe resource management problems, caused by the coexistence of tasks with interfering and even varying requirements. To counteract these problems, we present the novel Dynamic Hinting approach for maintaining good reactivity in typically resource constrained sensor/actuator systems by efficient combination of preemptive task scheduling and collaborative resource allocation. With respect to task priorities, our technique significantly improves classical methods for handling priority inversions (and deadlocks where required) under both short- and long-term resource allocations. Furthermore, we facilitate compositional software design by providing independently developed tasks with runtime information for yet collaborative and reflective resource sharing – e.g. by means of time-utility-functions. In many cases this even allows to reduce blocking delays as otherwise imposed by bounded priority inversion.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the complexity of computing winning strategies for poset games. While it is reasonably clear that such strategies can be computed in PSPACE, we give a simple proof of this fact by a reduction to the game of geography. We also show how to formalize the reasoning about poset games in Skelley’s theory W11\mathbf{W}_{1}^{1} for PSPACE reasoning. We conclude that W11\mathbf{W}_{1}^{1} can use the “strategy stealing argument” to prove that in poset games with a supremum the first player always has a winning strategy.  相似文献

The MagneBike inspection robot is a climbing robot equipped with magnetic wheels. The robot is designed to drive on three‐dimensional (3D) complexly shaped pipe structures; therefore it is necessary to provide 3D visualization tools for the user, who remotely controls the robot out of sight. The localization system is required to provide a 3D map of the unknown environment and the 3D location of the robot in the environment's map. The localization strategy proposed in this paper consists of combining 3D odometry with 3D scan registration. The odometry model is based on wheel encoders and a three‐axis accelerometer. Odometry enables the tracking of the robot trajectory between consecutive 3D scans and is used as a prior for the scan matching algorithm. The 3D scan registration facilitates the construction of a 3D map of the environment and refines the robot position computed with odometry. This paper describes in detail the implementation of the localization concept. It presents the lightweight, small‐sized 3D range finder that has been developed for the MagneBike. It also proposes an innovative 3D odometry model that estimates the local surface curvature to compensate for the absence of angular velocity inputs. The different tools are characterized in detail based on laboratory and field experiments. They show that the localization concepts reliably track the robot moving in the specific application environment. We also describe various techniques to optimize the 3D scanning process, which is time consuming, and to compensate for the identified limitations. These techniques are useful inputs for the future automatization of the robot's control and optimization of its localization process. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Databases form the common component of many software systems. However, performance models specifically targeted at the database design have not been extensively studied. In this paper, we propose QuePED – a queueing network performance evaluation model for database designs. QuePED provides for the performance modelling of database design constructs, including active database rules; thus, deviating from current methods that consider database designs as processing demands on the hardware architecture. We present a formal specification of QuePED and describe its application to database designs. Experimental evaluation has shown the ability of QuePED to capture the steady state performance of an implementation of the TPC-C benchmark.  相似文献

We present opportunistic resource utilization networks or oppnets, a novel paradigm of specialized ad hoc networks. We believe that applications can benefit from using specialized ad hoc networks that provide a natural basis for them, the basis more efficient and effective than what general-purpose ad hoc networks can offer. Oppnets constitute the subcategory of ad hoc networks where diverse systems, not employed originally as nodes of an oppnet, join it dynamically in order to perform certain tasks they have been called to participate in. Oppnets have a significant potential to improve a variety of applications, and to create new application niches. We categorize opportunistic networks currently known in the literature as class 1opportunistic networks that use opportunistically only communication resources, and class 2opportunistic networks or oppnets that use opportunistically all kinds of resources, including not only communication but also computation, sensing, actuation, storage, etc. After describing the oppnets and the basics of their operation, we discuss the Oppnet Virtual Machine (OVM)—a proposed standard implementation framework for oppnet applications. It is followed by a discussion of an example application scenario using the OVM primitives. Next, we discuss the design and operations of a small-scale oppnet, named MicroOppnet, originally developed as a proof of concept. MicroOppnet is now being extended to serve as a testbed for experimentation and pilot implementations of oppnet architectures and their components. We conclude with a summary and a list of some open issues for oppnets.  相似文献

We investigate the characteristics of the received signal as trilinear model for multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) system with antenna array, and propose a blind multiuser detection method for MC-CDMA system in this paper. The trilinear-based multiuser detection algorithm (Trilinear-MUDE) that we presented exploits the versatile diversity in MC-CDMA system while require neither channel information nor statistical characteristics. The algorithmic performance indicates that the proposed algorithm is very close to the nonblind MMSE method, and better than minimum output energy (MOE) receiver and matched filter. Numerical results also reveal its compatibility in condition of small sampling sizes.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel video augmentation approach: a video recording of a real entity augmented by structured data. This augmented video is a self-contained entity integrating values of perceptible and non-perceptible attributes of the same real entity. It simplifies data search, storage and management. Streaming, sharing, collaboration and synchronization are also simplified by the fact that the structured data (so-called augmented data) are integrated in the video file and therefore only one file needs to be manipulated. Our approach was applied to address the issues which road engineers experience while using the ROad Measurement and Data Acquisition System (ROMDAS). The ROMDAS system collects and analyses the road-condition state through video recordings and the data corresponding acquired by specific measuring devices. Currently, however, road engineers have to search the videos manually in order to find details of interest provided by the analysis of the data measured due to the separation of the video from the data. The ROMDAS system manages a large collection of road-condition data. It does not offer history management of video recordings of the same road captured at different time. We present this hybrid video augmentation system: the Augmented Video stream Framework (AVF). It allows creation, search, history management and playback of such augmented video files for effective road surveying based on the discrete data recorded in parallel to the video recordings. The AVF provides road engineers with effective and more comfortable perceptible and non-perceptible data search, storage and history management to be used for (collaborative) road inspection and maintenance.  相似文献
