The performances of gas diffusion electrodes (GDEs) containing Pt/C catalyst (48 wt.% and 68 wt.%-Pt) and sulfonated poly (arylene ether) (SPAE) ionomer (ion exchange capacity, IEC = 1.8 and 2.5 meq g−1) as a proton-conducting binder (SPAE-GDE) were examined in a PEFC at 80 °C and relative humidities (RH) from 60% to 100%. Based on our analyses in Part 1, we have succeeded in improving the cathode performance over the whole range of current densities examined by using a high Pt-loading for the catalyst (68 wt.%-Pt/C), in place of the previously used 48 wt.% one, for the reduction of thickness of the catalyst layer, which enabled us to increase the O2 gas diffusion rate and to suppress the adsorption of the SPAE binder on the Pt surface via an effective utilization of generated water. The performance, especially at low RH, was improved further by employing an SPAE binder with a lower IEC, 1.8 meq g−1 [SPAE(1.8)]. It was demonstrated by cyclic voltammetry that the specific adsorption of the sulfonate or organic moiety on the Pt surface was indeed suppressed for the case of SPAE(1.8). Hence, for the SPAE-GDEs, the use of a high Pt-loading catalyst, together with a binder with an appropriate IEC, is very important.  相似文献

Thick titanium coatings were prepared by the warm spraying (WS) and cold spraying (CS) processes to investigate the oxidation and microstructure of the coating layers. Prior to the coating formations, the temperature and velocity of in-flight titanium powder particles were numerically calculated. Significant oxidation occurred in the WS process using higher gas temperature conditions with low nitrogen flow rate, which is mixed to the flame jet of a high velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) spray gun in order to control the temperature of the propellant gas. Oxidation, however, decreased strikingly as the nitrogen flow rate increased. In the CS process using nitrogen or helium as a propellant gas, little oxidation was observed. Even when scanning electron microscopy or an x-ray diffraction method did not detect oxides in the coating layers produced by WS using a high nitrogen flow rate or by CS using helium, the inert gas fusion method revealed minor increases of oxygen content from 0.01 to 0.2?wt.%. Most of the cross-sections of the coating layers prepared by conventional mechanical polishing looked dense. However, the cross-sections prepared by an ion-milling method revealed the actual microstructures containing small pores and unbounded interfaces between deposited particles.  相似文献

WC-Co/aluminum multilayer coatings have been developed by using warm spray deposition to improve fracture toughness and damage tolerance of conventional WC-Co coatings and to investigate the effects of ductile layer addition on their fracture properties. Prior to depositing the multilayer coatings, the mechanical properties of three metal coatings of aluminum, copper, and titanium, which were deposited by warm spraying, were evaluated. The aluminum coating showed excellent ductility among them and was selected for use as ductile layers for the multilayer coatings. The fracture behavior of WC-Co/Al coatings was examined by the four-point bending test. The multilayer coatings did not break in a brittle manner after reaching maximum load, but exhibited a plateau as a result of the ductility of the aluminum layers. The fracture behavior was compared with the finite element analysis results, and they showed good agreement in a general trend. It has been concluded that ductile metal reinforcements, by advanced thermal spray techniques such as warm spray deposition, are very effective to enhance the toughness and damage tolerance of sprayed cermet coatings.  相似文献

Protein glycosylation is a crucial phenomenon for understanding protein functions, since its patterns and degree are associated with many biological processes, such as intercellular signaling and immune response. We previously reported a novel glycan-labeling method using a 3-ainoquinoline/α-cyano-4-hydroxycinnamic acid (3-AQ/CHCA) liquid matrix for highly sensitive detection by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI)-mass spectrometry (MS). In the present study, we examined the practicality of this method for qualitative and quantitative glycan profile analysis. We first investigated the reproducibility of the data for 16 N-glycans prepared from human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2). All of the data obtained in intra-assays and interassays were highly correlated with statistical significance (R(2) > 0.9, p < 0.05). In addition, the HER2 glycosylation pattern differed significantly between different breast cancer cell lines SK-BR-3 and BT474 in a comparative analysis of profile data. Finally, the quantitative capability of this method was examined by using PA-labeled monosialylated N-glycan as an internal standard (IS). Using IS for AQ-labeled neutral and sialylated standard glycans, the ion peak intensity was highly linear (R(2) > 0.9) from 0.5 to 5000 fmol. Furthermore, using IS for HER2 N-glycans, all of the N-glycans were highly linear with their dilution factors (R(2) > 0.9). These results suggest that our developed AQ labeling method enabled rapid qualitative and quantitative analyses of glycans. This glycan analysis method should contribute to the field of biomarker discovery and biomedicine in applications such as quality control of biotechnology-based drugs.  相似文献

The relationship between molecular gel-forming compound-based double-alkylated l-glutamide-derived functional group-integrated organic phase (Sil-FIP) structure and chromatographic performance is investigated and compared with widely used alkyl phases (C(30), polymeric and monomeric C(18)) as references. The functional group-integrated molecular gel on silica is chemically designed newly in a way that the weak interaction sites are integrated with high orientation and high selectivity can be realized by multiple interactions with the solutes. Its functions can be emphasized by being immobilizable with a terminal carboxyl group and the fact that five amide bonds including β-alanine subunit are integrated per molecule. Furthermore, its self-assembling function can be detected by monitoring of the chiroptical property. Temperature-dependent circular dichroism (CD) intensity was determined as an indicator of chirality for the gel forming compounds. (13)C cross-polarization magic angle spinning (CP/MAS) NMR spectra of the Sil-FIP phase indicate that predominance of gauche conformations exists at higher temperature (above 30 °C). (29)Si CP/MAS NMR were carried out to investigate the degree of cross-linking of the silane and silane functionality of the modified silica. Temperature-dependent (13)C CP/MAS NMR and suspended-state (1)H NMR measurements of the Sil-FIP phase exhibit the dynamic behavior of the alkyl chains. To correlate the NMR and CD results with temperature-dependent chromatographic studies, standard reference materials (SRM 869b and SRM 1647e), column selectivity test mixture for liquid chromatography was employed. Additional shape selectivity text mixtures were also used to clarify the mechanism of shape selectivity performance of Sil-FIP compared with commercially available columns. The evaluation with the spectroscopic and chromatographic analyses presents very important information on the surface morphology of the new organic phase and the molecular recognition process. Integrated and ordered functional groups were investigated to be the main driving force for very high molecular shape selectivity of the Sil-FIP phase.  相似文献

In nature, there are various iron oxides produced by the water-habitant bacterial group called “iron-oxidizing bacteria”. These iron oxides have been studied mainly from biological and geochemical perspectives. Today, attempts are made to use such iron oxides as novel functional materials in several applications. However, their quantitative structural characteristics are still unclear. We studied the structure of iron oxide of microtubular form consisting of amorphous nanoparticles formed by an iron-oxidizing bacterium, Leptothrix ochracea, using a combination of high-energy X-ray diffraction and reverse Monte Carlo simulation. We found that its structure consists of a framework of corner- and edge-sharing distorted FeO6 octahedral units, while SiO4 tetrahedral units are isolated in the framework. The results reveal the atomic arrangement of iron oxide of bacterial origin, which is essential for investigating its potential as a functional material.  相似文献

Highly soluble amorphous calcium phosphate powder (ACP) was added to the alginate gel as a buffering agent, in an attempt to enable widely controlled release while avoiding an acidification of the gel-environment. Therapeutic effects of the ACP-containing alginate gel which slowly releases a drug, simvastatin, on osteoporosis model rats were examined. A model drug, simvastatin, incorporated in the alginate gel with ACP up to 0.5%, was continuously released for a long time under the acidic condition. The release rate was controlled by the amount of ACP, serving as a buffer to suppress acidity. When the alginate solution intramuscularly injected in the rat, a soft gel was formed in the injected site. Simvastatin released from the gel containing 0.5% of ACP showed high therapeutic effect on osteoporosis rat. Thus, the present injectable long-sustained release system is expected to be a novel drug delivery controlling device.  相似文献

This paper presents a novel mathematical model‐based compensation algorithm for the nonlinear friction in table drive systems using Group Method of Data Handling (GMDH). In the proposed compensation, the nonlinear friction can be autonomously modeled as a polynomial expression of appropriate control state variables according to the process of GMDH and, as a result, the complicated structural modeling and its parameterization, indispensable in conventional model‐based strategies, can be completely eliminated. In addition, since the proposed GMDH‐based model can easily achieve the generalization ability for table drive condition, the robust compensation for friction can be attained against the change of drive conditions. We consider circular motion of a heavy object in an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) at T=0 K. Even if the linear velocity of the object is smaller than the Landau critical velocity, the object may radiate quasiparticles and thus experience the quantum friction. The radiation process is similar to Zel’dovich-Starobinsky (ZS) effect—the radiation by a rotating black hole. This analogy emerges when one introduces the effective acoustic metric for quasiparticles. In the rotating frame this metric has an ergosurface, which is similar to the ergosurface in the metric of a rotating black hole. In a finite size BEC, the quasiparticle creation takes place when the ergosurface is within the condensate and occurs via quantum tunneling from the object into the ergoregion. The dependence of the radiation rate on the position of the ergosurface is investigated.   相似文献
