Background  

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of nutritionally enriched JavaFit™ (JF) coffee (450 mg of caffeine, 1200 mg of garcinia cambogia, 360 mg of citrus aurantium extract, and 225 mcg of chromium polynicotinate) on resting oxygen uptake (VO2), respiratory exchange ratio (RER), heart rate (HR), and blood pressure (BP) in healthy and physically active individuals.  相似文献

Electrical discharge machining is an attractive machining technique which requires electrically conductive ceramic materials. Silicon nitride based composites with 35–40% of TiN possess electrical conductivity high enough to use this machining technique. The composite powder was prepared by combustion synthesis and densified by pressure sintering (sintering aids 6 wt% of Y2O3 and 4 wt% of A1,03). High fracture toughness, K c 10.5 MPa.m1/2, is typical for the composite. It can be expected that this material can compete with pure silicon nitride in applications requiring complex machining.  相似文献

Mossbauer spectra of iron species in the following illites were studied: Grundite, Fithian, Minerva, and New Albany. Spectra of samples of Fithian illite heated at temperatures of 225, 700, and 1000 °C were also obtained. Analyses of these spectra provide Mössbauer parameter values of iron species in the illites and heat-transformed illite for comparison with similar species found in coals containing illites and in coal process residues derived from them. The illites contain both ferric and ferrous species. Mössbauer parameters for one of the ferric species, designated M(2), are virtually the same as those of pyrite. The two species are therefore difficult to distinguish from one another. Values of the concentration of pyrite in coals and shales may be inflated if the pyrite concentration is measured by Mössbauer spectroscopy. Mössbauer spectra of the heat-treated illite samples reveal changes in iron distribution, principally at the 700 and 1000 °C levels, where there are found three and six different iron species respectively. These changes are accompanied by reduction of ferric to ferrous iron. This process should be integrated into any assessment of the iron chemistry which accompanies coal-conversion processes.  相似文献

The determination of the diffusion coefficient for water in various porosity cellulose acetate membranes by a gravimetric method, using a humidified carrier gas, is described. It was found to be impossible to obtain meaningful results for very porous membranes, although dense membranes gave limiting values of diffusion coefficient at high carrier gas velocities. This phenomenon is explained in terms of the dissipation of the heat of sorption by the forced convection provided by the carrier gas. The variation of diffusion coefficient with concentration of water in dense cellulose acetate is explained in terms of clustering of water molecules in the polymer at high concentration.  相似文献

Capillary gas liquid chromatography analyses were conducted on free and esterified sterol fractions of cotton (Gossypium hirsutum cv. Stoneville 213) floral buds and anthers. The free sterols of both cotton buds and anthers consist mainly of the common plant sterols sitosterol, stigmasterol and 24ζ-methylcholest-5-en-3β-ol. The composition of esterified sterols of cotton buds and anthers were similar, and consisted of pollinastanol, 31-norcycloartanol, cycloartenol, 31-norcycloartenol, 24-dehydropolinastanol and sitosterol. Desmosterol was also present in both the free and esterified sterols of anthers. The identities of the sterols were confirmed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analyses. Esterified sterols accounted for 46.7 and 88.7% of total sterols of cotton bud and anthers, respectively. The ratio of esterified sterol to free sterol per gram of tissue is about 8∶1 in anthers. The Δ5-sterols of the esterified sterols of cotton buds and anthers account for only 17 and 9.2% of the total sterols, respectively.  相似文献

Rheo-optical Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is based on the simultaneous acquisition of stress-strain data and FTIR spectra on-line to the mechanical treatment of polymers and is frequently applied for the characterization of transient structural changes during deformation and stress-relaxation. In the present communication, this technique has been employed in order to investigate the distribution of molecular orientation and its relaxation in uniaxially drawn solution-cast films of semicrystalline partial miscible blends of poly(butylene terephthalate) (PBT) with polycarbonate (PC) containing 10, 30 and 50 wt% PC. The uniaxial deformation of these blend films having a PBT-crystallinity degree ranging from 31 to 12%, in unstretched blends, leads to a appreciable high segmental orientation for the crystalline PBT due to a structural transformation from lamellae to microfibrils. The formation of this fibrillar structure is attributed to non-reversibility of an extended phase with all-trans conformational sequence of the aliphatic segments of PBT, occurring during elongation. The rate of relaxation of this conformational transition, however, increases with increasing amorphous content in the blends. Also it is observed that even with increasing amorphous content in the PBT/PC blends the crystalline PBT shows significant orientation. In such cases, apart from the few lamellae which transform to microfibrils, it is suggested that a stress induced transformation of PBT chains in amorphous PBT-component to irreversible all-trans extended crystalline form also contributes to PBT crystalline orientation. In contrast with this high crystalline orientation, the amorphous PBT located in the interlamellar regions inside the PBT-spherulites show a lower orientation in blends as compared in pure PBT.On the other hand, an overall segmental orientation of PC chains in blends is of lower order which is attributed mainly to low stretching temperature compared to Tg of pure PC. The results are discussed in terms of the resulting spherulitic morphology and the temporary network formed by the elongated PBT and PC chains inside the interlamellar regions, in blends.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of finding optimal operational policies for an acetylene reactor for day to day operation. A lumped parameter model based on four main reactions is developed and used to examine the effects of the reactor manipulated variables on key reaction parameters. An optimal and a sub-optimal operational policy which minimize the ethylene loss over time are formulated and the solution techniques are presented. The results indicate that the reactor model is in good agreement with industrial plant data. The performance of the optimal control policy is very similar to the performance of the sub-optimal control policy. However, the sub-optimal formulation, while retaining the dominant features of the optimal response, reduces the computational requirements. Finally, some issues concerning the real-time implementation of an advanced acetylene reactor control scheme are presented. These include the estimation of the optimum regeneration cycle, a recursive model update algorithm, the process optimizer and their overall coordination. A preliminary analysis of the benefits associated with the advanced control scheme suggests a considerable reduction in the yearly ethylene loss.  相似文献

Isolation of erucic acid from rapeseed oil by lipase-catalyzed hydrolysis   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Three lipases were compared for their ability to hydrolyze high erucic acid rapeseed oil, with the objective of concentrating the erucic acid in a single glyceride fraction. Lipase fromPseudomonas cepacia released all fatty acids rapidly and did not result in selective distribution of erucic acid.Geotrichum candidum lipase released C20 and C22 fatty acids extremely slowly, resulting in their accumulation in the di- and triglyceride fractions. Less than 2% of the total erucic acid was found in the free fatty acid (FFA) fraction. Lipase fromCandida rugosa released erucic acid more slowly than C20 and C18 fatty acids at 35°C but only resulted in a limited accumulation of the erucic acid in the di- and triglyceride fractions. However, when hydrolysis catalyzed byC. rugosa lipase was carried out below 20°C, the reaction mixture solidified and was composed solely of FFAs and diglycerides. The diglyceride fraction contained approximately 95% erucic acid while about 20% of the total erucic acid was found in the FFA fraction. It is concluded that hydrolysis at low temperature withC. rugosa lipase results in a higher purity of erucic acid in the glyceride fraction than can be obtained withG. candidum lipase, but with considerable loss of erucic acid to the FFA fraction.  相似文献

Apolipoprotein E (apoE), an important determinant of plasma lipoprotein metabolism, has three common alleles (ε2, ε3, and ε4). Population studies have shown that the risk of diseases characterized by oxidative damage, such as coronary heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease, is significantly higher in ɛ4 carriers. We evaluated the association between apoE genotypes and plasma F2-isoprostane levels, an index of lipid peroxidation, in humans. Two hundred seventy-four healthy subjects (104 males, 170 females; 46.9±13.0 yr; 200 whites, 74 blacks; 81 nonsmokers, 64 passive smokers, and 129 active smokers) recruited for a randomized clinical antioxidant intervention trial were included in this analysis. ApoE genotype was determined by PCR and restriction enzyme digestion. Free plasma F2-isoprostane was measured by GC-MS. Genotype groups were compared using multiple regression analysis with adjustment for sex, age, race, smoking status, body mass index, plasma ascorbic acid, and β-carotene. Subjects with ε3/ε4 and ε4/ε4 genotype (ε4-carriers) and with ε2/ε3 and ε3/ε3 (non-ε4-carriers) were pooled for analysis. In subjects with high cholesterol levels (total cholesterol above 200 mg/dl), plasma F2-isoprostane levels were 29% higher in ε4 carriers than in non-ε4-carriers (P=0.0056). High-cholesterol subjects that are ε4 carriers have significantly higher levels of lipid peroxidation as assessed by circulating F2-isoprostane levels.  相似文献
