Ageing of bitumen leads to increased stiffness and brittleness. Thus, bituminous bound pavements become more prone to failure by low-temperature and fatigue cracking. Therefore, the ageing behaviour of bitumen has a crucial impact on durability, as well as recyclability of pavements. To assess ageing of bitumen, the rolling thin film oven test and pressure ageing vessel are standardised methods for short-term and long-term ageing in the lab. For lab-ageing of hot mix asphalt (HMA), various methods have been developed in the last decades. This paper presents a study on the potential of employing a highly oxidant gas for simulating the long-term oxidative ageing of asphalt mix specimens in the lab. Based on the results, an optimised lab-ageing procedure (Viennese Ageing Procedure – VAPro) for compacted HMA specimens to assess mix performance of long-term lab-aged specimens is developed. Thus, it is possible to optimise mix design not only for short-term performance but to take into account effects of oxidative ageing during its in-service life. VAPro is based on a triaxial cell with forced flow of a gaseous oxidant agent through the specimen. The oxidant agent is enriched in ozone and nitric oxides to increase the rate of oxidation. It is shown by stiffness tests of unaged and lab-aged specimens, as well as by Dynamic Shear Rheometer tests of recovered binder from aged specimens that asphalt mixes can be long-term aged at moderate temperatures (+60°C) and within 4 days and a flow rate of 1 l/min by applying VAPro. Thus, an ageing procedure is at hand that can simulate long-term ageing at conditions that are representative of conditions that occur in the field within an efficient amount of time.  相似文献

The current percolation in polymer‐sorted semiconducting (7,5) single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) networks, processed from solution, is investigated using a combination of electrical field‐effect measurements, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and conductive AFM (C‐AFM) techniques. From AFM measurements, the nanotube length in the as‐processed (7,5) SWNTs network is found to range from ≈100 to ≈1500 nm, with a SWNT surface density well above the percolation threshold and a maximum surface coverage ≈58%. Analysis of the field‐effect charge transport measurements in the SWNT network using a 2D homogeneous random‐network stick‐percolation model yields an exponent coefficient for the transistors OFF currents of 16.3. This value is indicative of an almost ideal random network containing only a small concentration of metallic SWNTs. Complementary C‐AFM measurements on the other hand enable visualization of current percolation pathways in the xy plane and reveal the isotropic nature of the as‐spun (7,5) SWNT networks. This work demonstrates the tremendous potential of combining advanced scanning probe techniques with field‐effect charge transport measurements for quantification of key network parameters including current percolation, metallic nanotubes content, surface coverage, and degree of SWNT alignment. Most importantly, the proposed approach is general and applicable to other nanoscale networks, including metallic nanowires as well as hybrid nanocomposites.  相似文献

The problems studied in this article originate from the Graph Motif problem introduced by Lacroix et al. (IEEE/ACM Trans. Comput. Biol. Bioinform. 3(4):360–368, 2006) in the context of biological networks. The problem is to decide if a vertex-colored graph has a connected subgraph whose colors equal a given multiset of colors M. It is a graph pattern-matching problem variant, where the structure of the occurrence of the pattern is not of interest but the only requirement is the connectedness. Using an algebraic framework recently introduced by Koutis (Proceedings of the 35th International Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming (ICALP), Lecture Notes in Computer Science, vol. 5125, pp. 575–586, 2008) and Koutis and Williams (Proceedings of the 36th International Colloquium on Automata, Languages and Programming (ICALP), Lecture Notes in Computer Science, vol. 5555, pp. 653–664, 2009), we obtain new FPT algorithms for Graph Motif and variants, with improved running times. We also obtain results on the counting versions of this problem, proving that the counting problem is FPT if M is a set, but becomes #W[1]-hard if M is a multiset with two colors. Finally, we present an experimental evaluation of this approach on real datasets, showing that its performance compares favorably with existing software.  相似文献

This paper proposes a new higher order model reference adaptive control (HO-MRAC) approach following direct adaptive control philosophy, which estimates unknown time-varying parameters. This approach leads to a Lyapunov based conventional MRAC update law, augmented by an observer type parameter predictor dynamics. The predictor dynamics are composed of a stable known part, a feedback of the parameter error and unknown higher order parameters, which are updated using a Lyapunov based adaptive design. So, this HO-MRAC can cope with rapidly changing parameters, due to estimation of their time derivatives. Moreover, for stability analysis, a Lyapunov based generic ultimate boundedness theorem is presented, which allows for a computation of separate bounds for each state vector partition. Furthermore, this theorem formulates the explicit specification of transient and ultimate bounds, reaching time on the ultimate bounds and a set of admissible initial conditions. Two challenging illustrative examples demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.  相似文献

Determining good parameter estimates in (exponential smooth transition autoregressive) models is known to be difficult. We show that the phenomena of getting strongly biased estimators is a consequence of the so‐called identification problem, the problem of properly distinguishing the transition function in relation to extreme parameter combinations. This happens in particular for either very small or very large values of the error term variance. Furthermore, we introduce a new alternative model – the TSTAR model – which has similar properties as the ESTAR model but reduces the effects of the identification problem. We also derive a linearity and a unit root test for this model.  相似文献

Many social interactions require the synchronization—be it automatically or intentionally—of one's own behavior with that of others. Using a dyadic drumming paradigm, the authors delineate lifespan differences in interpersonal action synchronization (IAS). Younger children, older children, younger adults, and older adults in same- and mixed-age dyads were instructed to drum in synchrony with their interaction partner at a constant, self-chosen tempo. Adult-only dyads showed the highest and children-only the lowest levels of IAS accuracy. It is important to note that children improved reliably in IAS accuracy when paired with older partners. The observed age-related differences in IAS accuracy remained reliable after statistically controlling for individual differences in the ability to synchronize to a metronome and for between-dyad differences in tempo. The authors conclude that IAS improves from middle childhood to adulthood and that adult interaction partners may facilitate its development. The first application of interference microscopy to monitoring mass transfer in nanoporous materials dates back to late 1970s when Caro and colleagues reported results of investigations of water uptake by LTA type zeolites. It was, however, not before the beginning of the new millennium that the developments in both the measuring technique and computational power have enabled the recording of transient guest profiles during molecular uptake and release under well‐defined conditions, leading to the establishment of a novel access to diffusion studies, now referred to as micro‐imaging. In the present contribution, the thus accessible novel type of information is illustrated by an in‐depth analysis of the uptake kinetics of methanol in an all‐silica ferrierite. In particular, two remarkable experimental findings are reported, which may be tracked back to their microstructural and/or microdynamic origin, namely a pronounced asymmetry in the transient concentration profiles and a slowing down of guest uptake with increasing temperature.  相似文献

When faced with the mathematical modeling of any engineering system, whether for design, performance assessment, optimization, or control, the engineer has to determine the level of accuracy versus the simplicity of the mathematical formulation. Although it is universally accepted that the more complex the formulation, the more accurate the results will be, these usually come at the expense of larger CPU times, a substantial amount of computer resources, and are generally limited by the capacity of computers and computing power, which most times precludes their use in favor of simpler models. Many times, however, engineers do not realize the potential risk that oversimplification of a problem generates in terms of accuracy of the results; that is, the model solution does not resemble the system behavior. Through a demonstrative example, the present study addresses the issue of oversimplification of the resulting mathematical model and the corresponding accuracy of its solution. After constructing three sets of models of the physical system, each with a different level of detail, the solutions are then compared to experimental data. The results show that the accuracy of the numerical approximation depends directly on the level of complexity of the mathematical model used, and that oversimplification may result in up to a ninefold degradation of the results. In addition, minor changes in the inlet boundary condition and geometry result in significant changes in the flow pattern, up to a fivefold difference between different models in the recirculation bubble relative error. This information is fundamental for engineering professionals to consider during the modeling process in applications.  相似文献

The Maglev vehicle Transrapid is levitated by magnetic forces which pull the vehicles levitation frames toward the guideway from below. The magnets possess poles with alternating fluxes which are part of the synchronous long stator linear motor. Although the Transrapid glides along its guideway without mechanical contact, this alternation as well as the loading and unloading of the guideway girders excite vibrations of the ground. In order to calculate the time behavior of the vibrational emissions, a simulation of the transfer of a Transrapid vehicle over several guideway girders is proposed. The equations of motion for the vehicle and the girders are calculated separately by the MBS software NEWEUL and assembled and numerically integrated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The control law for the magnet forces is simplified by the characteristics of linear spring-damper elements. The controlled magnet forces travel along the guideway continuously and include the dynamic component due to the alternating fluxes and the geometry of the poles and stator. Results of a complete vehicle moving along a guideway consisting of several girders can be obtained within a few minutes of computation time. Therefore, the mechanism of excitations can be analyzed by numerical time integration in the full state space. The results are validated by measurements of the forces in the joints of the guideway girders. The vibrational emission along the Transrapid guideway differs from the vibrations of contact-afflicted vehicles as no impacts and fewer stochastic effects occur.  相似文献

In this paper the discontinuous Galerkin method in time for the coupling of conforming finite element and boundary element methods is established. We derive quasi-optimal a priori error estimates.
