Reduced depth-of-field (DOF) poses a problem in the light optical imaging system, since the objects present outside this zone appear blurry in the recorded image. The effective DOF of the sensor may be enhanced considerably without compromising the quality of the image by fusing images captured with different focused regions. This paper presents an image fusion technique suitable for combining multifocus images of a scene. The method employs morphological filters to select sharply focused regions from various images and then combines them together to reconstruct the image in which all the regions are properly focused. A performance measure based on image gradients is used to compare the results obtained by the proposed method with those obtained by other image fusion techniques.  相似文献

Abstract. General linear processes do not usually satisfy strong mixing conditions. Therefore, we investigate the empirical process based on samples from such a general linear process by using a truncation argument and derive a local fluctuation inequality. It is well known that such a fluctuation inequality is of basic importance in the study of the empirical process. Here it is applied to obtain a rate of almost sure (a.s.) convergence for certain density estimators in the supremum norm. This extends a local result obtained by Chanda. As a direct corollary a rate of a.s. convergence for a mode estimator is obtained.  相似文献

Within the framework of this work, spinel-type ternary transition metal oxides of nickel, cobalt and iron with the composition FexNi1−xCo2O4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) were prepared and tested as promising electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) in alkaline water electrolysis. The hydroxide precipitation method was used for the synthesis. The morphology, structure and specific surface area of the prepared electrocatalysts were determined by means of scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, the Brunauer Emmet Teller method and X-ray photo electron spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties were tested by thin-film technique on a rotating disk electrode and in a single-cell laboratory water electrolyzer coupled with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The OER studies indicate that substitution of Ni by Fe increases the electrocatalytic activity of the resulting material significantly. The highest activity was achieved for x = 0.1. Whereas the current density obtained using a pure nickel anode in the water electrolysis test was 54 mA cm−2 at a cell voltage of 1.85 V, in the case of the anode modified with NiCo2O4 catalyst the value was 87 mA cm−2. Using ternary transition metal oxides in the water electrolysis test and under identical conditions, the catalyst with the highest activity displayed a current density of 115 mA cm−2.  相似文献

Multiscale morphological segmentation of gray-scale images   总被引:17,自引:0,他引:17  
In this paper, the authors have proposed a method of segmenting gray level images using multiscale morphology. The approach resembles the watershed algorithm in the sense that the dark (respectively bright) features which are basically canyons (respectively mountains) on the surface topography of the gray level image are gradually filled (respectively clipped) using multiscale morphological closing (respectively opening) by reconstruction with isotropic structuring element. The algorithm detects valid segments at each scale using three criteria namely growing, merging and saturation. Segments extracted at various scales are integrated in the final result. The algorithm is composed of two passes preceded by a preprocessing step for simplifying small scale details of the image that might cause over-segmentation. In the first pass feature images at various scales are extracted and kept in respective level of morphological towers. In the second pass, potential features contributing to the formation of segments at various scales are detected. Finally the algorithm traces the contours of all such contributing features at various scales. The scheme after its implementation is executed on a set of test images (synthetic as well as real) and the results are compared with those of few other standard methods. A quantitative measure of performance is also formulated for comparing the methods.  相似文献

Although colloid cysts of the third ventricle are unusual in children, we have recently encountered six examples. Histologically they were lined by cuboidal, pseudostratified or columnar ciliated and mucous-secreting epithelial cells. Two cases showed small microcysts within the fibrovascular stroma surrounding the main cyst. The outermost layer consisted of a glial-ependymal envelope, in keeping with the postulated supraventricular origin of colloid cysts. Scanning electron microscopy showed 10-40% ciliated cells, and no ballooning of non-ciliated cells. Aspiration of cyst contents was performed in three patients, two of whom subsequently required surgical resection 4 months and 8 years after drainage, respectively. In adults colloid cysts may be asymptomatic, whereas in children they have not been documented as incidental findings at autopsy. Two of our six cases died, both before a diagnosis was established. A colloid cyst of the third ventricle must be included in the evaluation of acute neurological deterioration in children, in whom they are more frequently lethal.  相似文献

We propose a new scheme of designing a vector quantizer for image compression. First, a set of codevectors is generated using the self-organizing feature map algorithm. Then, the set of blocks associated with each code vector is modeled by a cubic surface for better perceptual fidelity of the reconstructed images. Mean-removed vectors from a set of training images is used for the construction of a generic codebook. Further, Huffman coding of the indices generated by the encoder and the difference-coded mean values of the blocks are used to achieve better compression ratio. We proposed two indices for quantitative assessment of the psychovisual quality (blocking effect) of the reconstructed image. Our experiments on several training and test images demonstrate that the proposed scheme can produce reconstructed images of good quality while achieving compression at low bit rates. Acute exposure to the organophosphate pesticide chlorpyrifos (CPF) on gestation day 12 (GD12, 200 mg/kg/ml, SC) causes extensive neurochemical changes in maternal brain but lesser changes in fetal brain. In the present study, we examined the relative neurotoxicity of repeated, lower-level CPF exposures during gestation in rats. Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were exposed to CPF (6.25, 12.5, or 25 mg/kg per day, SC) from GD12-19 and sampled at either GD16, GD20, or postnatal day 3 (PND3) for measurement of various maternal and developmental neurochemical markers. In contrast to the high acute dose exposure, no maternal toxicity was noted with repeated lower-level dosing. Extensive acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibition (83-90%) was noted in maternal brain at all three time points following repeated exposures (25 mg/kg). Higher AChE inhibition (58%) was noted in fetal brain at GD20 compared to 19-25% on PND3 in treated pups cross-fostered to control dams and in control pups cross-fostered to treated dams following repeated exposures (25 mg/kg per day). Whereas similar reductions in brain muscarinic receptor binding were noted at GD20 and PND3 in dams and developing brain between acute and repeated dosing regimens, greater changes in [3H]CD and [3H]cytisine binding were evident following repeated exposures. Righting reflex and cliff avoidance tests were markedly altered following repeated exposures. The results suggest that lower-level repeated exposures to CPF cause extensive neurochemical and neurobehavioral changes in developing rats in the absence of maternal toxicity.  相似文献

Recent developments in sensor technology, as seen in Berkeley’s Mica2 Mote, Rockwell’s WINS nodes and the IEEE 802.15.4 Zigbee, have enabled support for single-transceiver, multi-channel communication. The task of channel assignment with minimum interference, also named as the 2-hop coloring problem, allows repetition of colors occurs only if the nodes are separated by more than 2 hops. Being NP complete, development of efficient heuristics for this coloring problem is an open research area and this paper proposes the Dynamic Channel Allocation (DCA) algorithm as a novel solution. Once channels are assigned, a Medium Access Control protocol must be devised so that channel selection, arbitration and scheduling occur with maximum energy savings and reduced message overhead, both critical considerations for sensor networks. The contribution of this paper is twofold: (1) development and analysis of the DCA algorithm that assigns optimally minimum channels in a distributed manner in order to make subsequent communication free from both primary and secondary interference and (2) proposing CMAC, a fully desynchronized multi-channel MAC protocol with minimum hardware requirements. CMAC takes into account the fundamental energy constraint in sensor nodes by placing them in a default sleep mode as far as possible, enables spatial channel re-use and ensures nearly collision free communication. Simulation results reveal that the DCA consumes significantly less energy while giving a legal distributed coloring. CMAC, our MAC protocol that leverages this coloring, has been thoroughly evaluated with various modes in SMAC, a recent protocol that achieves energy savings through coordinated sleeping. Results show that CMAC obtains nearly 200% reduction in energy consumption, significantly improved throughput, and end-to-end delay values that are 50–150% better than SMAC for our simulated topologies.  相似文献
