Surface area-normalized rate constants (k(SA)) of reaction between metallic nanoparticles and reducible contaminants, such as chlorinated hydrocarbons, heavy metals, and nitrate, have been reported to be dramatically increased as compared to that of commercial metallic powder. However, k(SA) for individual pollutants in previously published data vary by as much as 1-2 orders of magnitude and much of this variability is due to the effect of various sizes. The size dependence of the reactivity of nanoparticles is not yet fully understood; however, yielding nanoparticles with uniform size and without agglomeration during the period of reaction would demonstrate the effect of varying particle size. In this study, resin-supported zerovalent copper with average particle size of 7, 10, 18, 26, and 29, respectively, were successfully synthesized and evidenced no agglomeration during the reaction period of 10h. The k(SA) of copper nanoparticles (k(n,SA)) was 110-120 times higher than that of powdered copper particles (k(p,SA)) when the copper particle size was about 10nm. However, for diameters of 18-29 nm, the ratio of k(n,SA)/k(p,SA) was around 10-20, indicating that the reactivity of small copper nanoparticles (approximately 10nm) varies discontinuously. The aim of this study is to investigate the bioactive components of GABA (γ-aminobutyric acid) tea as compared with green tea produced in Taiwan. Using in total 56 tea samples (28 green tea and 28 GABA tea), moisture content, Hunter L, a and b values, phenolic compounds, amino acids including GABA, fatty acids and ascorbic acid were determined. The results showed that moisture, total free amino acids, crude fat, Hunter L value, total nitrogen, free fatty acids and reducing sugar did not differ significantly between GABA tea and green tea. However, GABA tea had higher Hunter a and b values, while green tea had higher total catechin and ascorbic acid contents (p < 0.05). Of major catechins, epicatechin and epigallocatechin gallate were found to be lower in GABA tea than in green tea. For free amino acids, GABA, alanine, ammonia, lysine, leucine and isoleucine were found to be significantly higher in GABA tea, while the glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and phenylalanine were higher in green tea (p < 0.05). The increased use of e-learning techniques as an accepted form of teaching has resulted in a growing volume of academic research
dedicated to their assessment. Despite the importance of the technique, there is little comprehensive knowledge on e-learning,
especially in non-educational fields. Author co-citation analysis (ACA) is an analytical method for identifying the intellectual
structure of specific knowledge domains through the relationship between two similar authors. ACA has been applied to many
fields, such as information retrieval, knowledge management, and strategic management; however, it has not yet been used to
analyze e-learning development. This study examines the intellectual structure of e-learning from the perspective of management
information systems (MIS). By applying the ACA method, we analyze and categorize international and Taiwanese research topics
into clusters. Our results show that Taiwanese authors put more effort into practical studies of business training, while
international authors focus on a users’ psychological reaction to learning context. Altogether, our research provides a clear
intellectual analysis of e-learning practices from 1996 to 2009, enabling us to thoroughly study and understand the influence

In this paper, we consider a multicasting model that uses incremental forward error correction (FEC). In this model, there is one sender and r/sup n/ receivers. The sender uses an ideal (n,n(1-p),np) FEC code to code a group of n(1-p) data packets with additional np redundant packets so that any set of n(1-p) packets received by a receiver can be used to recover the original n(1-p) data packets. Packets to the receivers are lost independently with probability q. For this model, we prove several strong laws of large numbers for the asymptotic throughput as n /spl rarr/ /spl infin/. The asymptotic throughput is characterized by the unique solution of an equation in terms of p, q, and r. These strong laws not only provide theoretical justification for several important observations made in the literature, but also provide insights that might have impact on future design of multicasting protocols. 相似文献

Systems will soon be built with ICs that conform with the IEEE 1149.1 boundary scan architecture. Due to the hierarchical nature of such systems, they may contain many boundary scan chains. These chains can be used to test the system, subsystem, and board interconnect. To reduce test time, the application of test vectors to these scan chains must be carefully scheduled. This article deals with problems related to finding an optimal schedule for testing interconnect. This problem is modeled using a directed graph. The following results are obtained: (1) upper and lower bounds on interconnect test time; (2) necessary and sufficient conditions for obtaining an optimal schedule when the graph is acyclic; (3) sufficient condition for obtaining an optimal schedule when the graph is cyclic; and (4) an algorithm for constructing an optimal schedule for any graph.This work was supported by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and monitored by the Office of Naval Research under contract No. N00014-87-K-0861. The authors report a lexical decision experiment designed to determine whether activation is the locus of the word-frequency effect. K. R. Paap and L. S. Johansen (1994) reported that word frequency did not affect lexical decisions when exposure durations were brief; they accounted for this by proposing that data-limited conditions prevented late-occurring verification processes. Subsequently, P. A. Allen, A. F. Smith, M. Lien, T. A. Weber, and D. J. Madden (1997) and K. R. Paap, L. S. Johansen, E. Chun, and P. Vonnahme (2000) reported additional evidence that word-frequency effects do and do not have an activation locus, respectively. The authors further tested this issue in a lexical decision experiment using data-limited procedures--predicted by verification models to eliminate word-frequency effects. The authors observed word-frequency effects using individually determined exposure durations that were only 1 screen cycle longer than the exposure duration that yielded chance performance. An InGaP-GaAs heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) analog multiplier/mixer monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) is developed that adopts a Gilbert-cell multiplier with broad-band input-matching networks to widen the bandwidth up to 17 GHz. This MMIC was fabricated using a commercially available 6-in InGaP-GaAs HBT MMIC process. It achieved a measured sensitivity of above 1100 V/W for an analog multiplier and a conversion gain of better than 9 dB for a mixer. It also demonstrated a lower corner frequency and noise than that of an InP HBT analog multiplier. The measured low-frequency noise was 10 nV/sqrt(Hz), which is about half of that of an InP HBT analog multiplier with a similar architecture. The corner frequency of the low-frequency noise was roughly estimated to be 15 kHz. The measured performance of this MMIC chip with gain-bandwidth-product (GBP) of 47 GHz rivals that of the reported GaAs-based analog multipliers and mixers. AbstractThe European Landscape Convention emphasises the need for public participation in landscape planning and management. This demands understanding of how people perceive and observe landscapes. This can objectively be measured using eye tracking, a system recording eye movements and fixations while observing images. In this study, 23 participants were asked to observe 90 landscape photographs, representing 18 landscape character types in Flanders (Belgium) differing in degree of openness and heterogeneity. For each landscape, five types of photographs were shown, varying in view angle. This experiment design allowed testing the effect of the landscape characteristics and photograph types on the observation pattern, measured by Eye-tracking Metrics (ETM). The results show that panoramic and detail photographs are observed differently than the other types. The degree of openness and heterogeneity also seems to exert a significant influence on the observation of the landscape. 相似文献
