Abstract

A solvent extraction process is described for defluorination and desulfation of filter phosphoric acids with high Al content. The solvent used contain an amine and phosphoric acid as main constituents. The acid obtained is compatible with feed-grade requirements. It can be concentrated to 56–60% P2O5 by multiple effect evaporation, decreasing steam requirements by 50%. If an acid-base couple solvent is used in this process, part of the extracted phosphate can be recovered by back-wash with water in the form of highly purified phosphoric acid low in metals, fluorine and sulfate. The remainder of the acid along with the extracted sulfate is obtained as ammonium salt. The extracted F is converted into crystaline alkali fluorosilicate.  相似文献

A new method for coating glass slides with ZnO particles with an average size of 200 nm is proposed in the current article. The coating was performed under microwave radiation. Two main morphologies are found for the ZnO crystals that are deposited on glass slides. The first morphology is that of a very dense coating of ZnO hexagonal rods growing perpendicular to the glass surface. The second is the growth of ZnO flower‐like particles. In addition to coating the glass by ZnO particles, we also report on coating other polymers [poly(methyl methacrylate) plate, polycarbonate beads, Nylon 6,6 beads, and polypropylene beads) by ZnO. The morphology obtained for ZnO coated on polymers is different from that detected for coating ZnO on glass. The unorganized coating of ZnO rods on polymers has been observed. The coated glass slides were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, volumetric titration, EDS, scanning electron microscope, and optical measurements (DRS and transmittance spectroscopy). © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs) are among the most common bacterial infections associated with medical devices.In the current study,the synthesis,coating,antibiofilm properties,and biocompatibility of urinary catheters coated with Zn-doped CuO (Zn0.12Cu0.~O) nanoparticles (NPs) were examined.The doped NPs were synthesized and subsequently deposited on the catheter by the sonochemical method.The coated catheters displayed high antibiofilm activity and promising biocompatibility,as indicated by low in vitro cytotoxicity,negligible associated cytokine secretion,and absence of detectable irritation.The biocompatibility and ability of the Zn-doped CuO coating to inhibit biofilm formation were also evaluated in vivo using a rabbit model.Rabbits catheterized with uncoated catheters scored positive for CAUTI by day 4 of the experiment.In contrast,rabbits catheterized with Zn-doped CuO-coated catheters did not exhibit CAUTI until day 7 or remained completely uninfected for the whole duration of the 7-day experiment.Furthermore,.the in vivo biocompatibility assays and examinations supported the biosafety of Zn-doped CuO-coated catheters.Taken together,these data highlight the potential of Zn-doped CuO nanocomposite as effective antibiofilm compound.  相似文献

Parallel computation employing a domain decomposition method was used to calculate precisely without approximations the spatio-temporal distribution of Ca2+ in nerve terminals. The results showed, contrary to expectations, that for equal admitted Ca2+ currents at low (one channel open) and high (four channels open) depolarization, the average Ca2+ concentration at the release area is higher at the low depolarization. These calculations provide additional support for the Ca(2+)-voltage hypothesis for neurotransmitter release.  相似文献

Administered a multiscale attitude questionnaire to 1,033 9th graders from Western and Middle-Eastern ethnic backgrounds at the beginning and end of their 1st yr in desegregated high schools. Results show that Western students' assessment of their own ethnic group declined over the course of the year, while students from the Middle-Eastern group expressed a more positive attitude toward and greater acceptance of members of their own ethnic group at the conclusion of the year than at the start. Students from both groups continued to view persons from the Western group as superior to those of Middle-Eastern background at the conclusion of the year. Thus, each ethnic group registered change in its members' relation to their own group rather than toward the other group. Contrary to current claims, neither the extent of previous ethnic contact nor the degree of ethnic mix in the desegregated classroom was found to affect attitudinal outcomes of desegregation. The copolymer poly(acrylonitrile-co-styryl isocyanate) was prepared directly in bulk by radical initiation either from the monomer pair acrylonitrile–cinnamoyl azide or from the pair acrylonitrile–styryl isocyanate. The copolymerization parameters, calculated by the conventional scheme, are r1, = 3.5 ± 0.5; r2 = 0 ± 0.5, for the first pair and r1 = 9 ± 0.5; r2 = 0 ± 0.5 for the second pair. The basic physical properties (solubility, intrinsic viscosity, and thermal behavior) of the new copolymer were determined and the chemical reactions of the isocyanate group with alcohol and with dimethylformamide were investigated.  相似文献

Complete nitrification of ammonia in partially treated domestic wastewater was demonstrated in a mixed culture chemostat. The optimal detention time of water in the chemostat for maximal nitrification was 6–7 days. In the field, a significant number of nitrifying bacteria was present in a wastewater reservoir, as well as in samples of inflowing water from the preceding anaerobic overloaded oxidation pond.  相似文献
