In master-slave teleoperation applications that deal with a delicate and sensitive environment, it is important to provide haptic feedback of slave/environment interactions to the user's hand as it improves task performance and teleoperation transparency (fidelity), which is the extent of telepresence of the remote environment available to the user through the master-slave system. For haptic teleoperation, in addition to a haptics-capable master interface, often one or more force sensors are also used, which warrant new bilateral control architectures while increasing the cost and the complexity of the teleoperation system. In this paper, we investigate the added benefits of using force sensors that measure hand/master and slave/environment interactions and of utilizing local feedback loops on the teleoperation transparency. We compare the two-channel and the four-channel bilateral control systems in terms of stability and transparency, and study the stability and performance robustness of the four-channel method against nonidealities that arise during bilateral control implementation, which include master-slave communication latency and changes in the environment dynamics. The next issue addressed in the paper deals with the case where the master interface is not haptics capable, but the slave is equipped with a force sensor. In the context of robotics-assisted soft-tissue surgical applications, we explore through human factors experiments whether slave/environment force measurements can be of any help with regard to improving task performance. The last problem we study is whether slave/environment force information, with and without haptic capability in the master interface, can help improve outcomes under degraded visual conditions.  相似文献

Based on the non-equilibrium Green’s function formalism we numerically studied gate-controlled tunneling carbon nanotube field-effect transistors. We present the Vienna Schrödinger-Poisson Solver (VSP), a multi-purpose quantum mechanical solver for investigations on nano-scaled device structures. VSP includes a quantum mechanical solver for closed as well as open boundary problems on fairly arbitrary one-dimensional cross sections within the effective mass framework. For investigations on novel gate dielectrics VSP holds models for bulk and interface trap charges, and direct and trap assisted tunneling. Hetero-structured semiconductor devices, like resonant tunneling diodes (RTD), can be treated within the closed boundary model for quick estimation of resonant energy levels. The open boundary model allows evaluation of current voltage characteristics.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The present study is an investigation to demonstrate the effectiveness of in situ approach in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite-grafted titanium nanotube composite (HA-TNT). This method involves combining the process of HA sol–gel and rapid breakdown anodisation of titanium in a novel solution consisting of NaCl and N3PO4. This new synthesis approach produced a uniform dispersion of Anatase and Rutile phases of TiO2 nanotubes with minimal agglomeration in the matrix of crystalline HA. The characterisation of homogenised HA-TNT composite was investigated via field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). FESEM and TEM images indicated the nanostructure of composite with TiO2 nanotube diameter of approximately 10 nm. XRD and EDS analyses confirmed the formation of HA crystalline with the Ca/P ratio of 1.58 and formation of Anatase and Rutile phase of TiO2 nanotubes.  相似文献

The basic goal in combinatorial group testing is to identify a set of up to d defective items within a large population of size n?d using a pooling strategy. Namely, the items can be grouped together in pools, and a single measurement would reveal whether there are one or more defectives in the pool. The threshold model is a generalization of this idea where a measurement returns positive if the number of defectives in the pool reaches a fixed threshold u>0, negative if this number is no more than a fixed lower threshold ?<u, and may behave arbitrarily otherwise. We study non-adaptive threshold group testing (in a possibly noisy setting) and show that, for this problem, O(d g+2(logd)log(n/d)) measurements (where g:=u???1 and u is any fixed constant) suffice to identify the defectives, and also present almost matching lower bounds. This significantly improves the previously known (non-constructive) upper bound O(d u+1log(n/d)). Moreover, we obtain a framework for explicit construction of measurement schemes using lossless condensers. The number of measurements resulting from this scheme is ideally bounded by O(d g+3(logd)logn). Using state-of-the-art constructions of lossless condensers, however, we obtain explicit testing schemes with O(d g+3(logd)quasipoly(logn)) and O(d g+3+β poly(logn)) measurements, for arbitrary constant β>0.  相似文献

Production planning is a vital activity in any manufacturing system, and naturally implies assigning the available resources to the required operations. This paper develops and analyzes a comprehensive mathematical model for dynamic manufacturing systems. The proposed model integrates production planning and worker training considering machine and worker time availability, operation sequence and multi-period planning horizon. The objective is to minimize machine maintenance and overhead, system reconfiguration, backorder and inventory holding, training and salary of worker costs. ABSTRACT

The freely available global and near-global digital elevation models (DEMs) have shown great potential for various remote sensing applications. The Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) data sets provide the near-global DEM of the Earth’s surface obtained using the interferometry synthetic aperture radar (InSAR). Although free accessibility and generality are the advantages of these data sets, many applications require more detailed and accurate DEMs. In this paper, we proposed a modified and advanced polarimetry-clinometry algorithm for improving SRTM topography model which requires only one set of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) data. The azimuth and range slope components estimation based on polarization orientation angle (POA) shifts and the intensity-based Lambertian model formed the bases of the proposed method. This method initially compensated for the polarimetry topography effect corresponding to SRTM using the DEM-derived POA. In the second step, using a modified algorithm, POA was obtained from the compensated PolSAR data. The POA shifts by the azimuth and range slopes’ variations based on the polarimetric model. In addition to the polarimetric model, a clinometry model based on the Lambertian scattering model related to the terrain slope was employed. Next, two unknown parameters, i.e. azimuth and range slope values, were estimated in a system of equations by two models from the compensated PolSAR data. Azimuth and range slopes of SRTM were enhanced by PolSAR-derived slopes. Finally, a weighted least-square grid adjustment (WLSG) method was proposed to integrate the enhanced slopes’ map and estimate enhanced heights. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Jet Propulsion Laboratory (NASA JPL) AIRSAR was utilized to illustrate the potential of the proposed method in SRTM enhancement. Also, the InSAR DEM was employed for evaluation experiments. Results showed that the accuracy of SRTM DEM is improved up to 2.91 m in comparison with InSAR DEM.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

The Earth’s surface is constantly changing due to variations originating from the increasing human population. In the last decade, numerous methods were presented in the literature for change detection using multispectral image data. Owing to the increasing availability of hyperspectral images, these methods are now being applied to hyperspectral images. The main objective of this study is to present different change detection methods in hyperspectral imagery. Numerous algorithms (more than 43 algorithms) have been proposed for change detection in hyperspectral imagery over the last decade. In this work, we provide a comparative review of these algorithms through experimental results. We place the algorithms in five major groups: (1) match-based, (2) transformation-based, (3) direct classification-based, (4) post-classification-based, and (5) hybrid-based. We evaluate and compare the performances of all five groups using two real-world data sets of multi-temporal hyperspectral imagery. This comparative study investigates the advantages and disadvantages of the effects of preprocessing steps in the efficiency of the hyperspectral change detection (HSCD) methods. These preprocessing steps are considered in four scenarios, including: (1) considering only spatial or geometric correction without noise reduction and spectral correction; (2) spatial, atmospheric, and radiometric corrections without noise reduction; (3) spatial correction and noise reduction without atmospheric and radiometric corrections; and (4) spatial, atmospheric, and radiometric correction with noise reduction. The empirical results, followed by a summary of the pros and cons of each algorithm, aim to help researchers select the procedures with the best characteristics for HSCD applications.  相似文献

Linear parameter-varying (LPV) modelling and control of a nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE) is considered in this article. The one-dimensional viscous Burgers' equation is discretised using a finite difference scheme; the boundary conditions are taken as control inputs and the velocities at two grid points are assumed to be measurable. A nonlinear high-order state space model is generated and proper orthogonal decomposition is used for model order reduction. After assessing the accuracy of the reduced model, a low-order functional observer is designed to estimate the reduced states which are linear combinations of the velocities at all grid points. A discrete-time quasi-LPV model that is affine in scheduling parameters is derived based on the reduced model. A polytopic LPV controller is synthesised based on a generalised plant containing the LPV model and the functional observer. More generally, the proposed method can be used to design an LPV controller for a quasi-LPV system with non-measurable scheduling parameters. Simulation results demonstrate the high tracking performance and disturbance and measurement noise rejection capabilities of the designed LPV controller compared with a linear quadratic Gaussian (LQG) controller based on a linearised model.  相似文献
