Summary The structure analysis of two conductive polymer systems-poly-4-vinylpyridine and poly(butadiene-b-4-vinylpyridine) with 7,7′,8,8′-tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ)-was done by X-ray diffraction, scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and FTIR. The charge transfer complex formed between the pyridine group and the known electron acceptor, TCNQ, is supposed to be the conductive element in these systems. In order to understand the structure of this complex, a model compound, the complex of 4-ethylpyridine (4EP) with TCNQ, 4EP/TCNQ2, was studied by the mentioned methods. It appears that there are two crystalline modifications of the model compound with different type of stacks of the TCNQ molecules. In polymer systems only one type of the complex is dominant as revealed by joint analysis of X-ray diffraction diagrams, STM and FTIR data. In the STM image of the polymer surface one can distinguish that molecular stacks with periodicities of 4.1 ? in a row are separated (12.5?) from each other. Such organization is similiar to the one observed in conductive charge transfer complexes such as tetrathiofulvalene (TTF) with TCNQ. The ordered molecular domains are scattered on the polymer surface and take part in the formation of the conductive network.  相似文献

An immunoassay system was developed for efficient detection of prohibited meat and bone meal (MBM) in animal feed. Monoclonal antibodies (MAbs) were raised against bovine smooth muscle autoclaved at 130 degrees C for 20 min. Among the 1,500 supernatants of hybridoma cells screened, MAbs 3E1, 1G3, and 3E10 were selected and characterized in this study. The first set of MAbs produced, 3E1 and 1G3, had stronger reactivity against MBM than against smooth muscle that was heat treated at 90 degrees C for 10 min. However, reactivity gradually increased against smooth muscle that was autoclaved at 130 degrees C for up to 1 h. The enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for detection of MBM in animal feed was optimized with the MAb 3E10 because of its superior performance. MAb 3E10 diluted to 100-fold was used to differentiate bovine MBM from that of other species in ingredients used for commercial animal feeds and could detect down to 0.05% MBM mixed in animal feed.  相似文献

We have realized laser diodes with integrated spot-size transformer to achieve a high-coupling efficiency to a standard single-mode fiber (SMF) without microoptical elements. A coupling loss of about 1 dB has been achieved with tolerances of 12 μm in both vertical and horizontal direction. We have fabricated both distributed-feedback (DFB) and Fabry-Perot (FP)-type lasers. In the case of the FP lasers the longitudinal single-mode emission was stabilized by means of an external fiber Bragg-grating which was directly butt-coupled to the laser. Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) Stark responses can occur in quadrupolar nuclei for an electric field oscillating at twice the usual NMR frequency (2ω(0)). Calibration of responses to an applied E field is needed to establish nuclear spins as probes of native E fields within material and molecular systems. We present an improved approach and apparatus for accurate measurement of quadrupolar Stark effects. Updated values of C(14) (the response parameter in cubic crystals) were obtained for both (69)Ga and (75)As in GaAs. Keys to improvement include a modified implementation of voltage dividers to assess the 2ω(0) amplitude, |E|, and the stabilization of divider response by reduction of stray couplings in 2ω(0) circuitry. Finally, accuracy was enhanced by filtering sets of |E| through a linear response function that we established for the radiofrequency amplifier. Our approach is verified by two types of spectral results. Steady-state 2ω(0) excitation to presaturate NMR spectra yielded C(14) = (2.59 ± 0.06) × 10(12) m(-1) for (69)Ga at room-temperature and 14.1 T. For (75)As, we obtained (3.1 ± 0.1) × 10(12) m(-1). Both values reconcile with earlier results from 77 K and below 1 T, whereas current experiments are at room temperature and 14.1 T. Finally, we present results where few-microsecond pulses of the 2ω(0) field induced small (tens of Hz) changes in high-resolution NMR line shapes. There too, spectra collected vs |E| agree with the model for response, further establishing the validity of our protocols to specify |E|.  相似文献

The paper presents a modified dynamic time warping (DTW) technique for person authentication based on time series matching obtained from handwriting. The online data has been acquired by a biometric smart pen device. The proposed method allows fast and accurate classification of human individuals based on handwritten PIN words or signature samples. Although classic DTW provides robust distance measurements essential for accurate classification of sequences, it is computationally expensive. To speed up computations we introduce area bound dynamic time warping (AB_DTW) that divides time series into several areas bounded by segments of consecutive zero crossings including local peaks and valleys. Unlike classic DTW which compares whole signals, the proposed AB_DTW warps areas bounded by the local regions. Two kinds of data abstraction formats of area bound—1 dimensional and 2 dimensional—are evaluated. Experimental results show that because of a higher-level data abstraction, the proposed approach is several times faster than classic DTW. Moreover, AB_DTW does not offer substantial loss of accuracy which is required for authentication performance using handwritten PIN words and signatures sampled by biometric pen device.  相似文献

The following investigation examines changes in the distance between the right and left dendritic termini arising from the serotonergic sensory neurons found in the apical ganglion of the larval dendronotid nudibranchs, Melibe leonina and Tritonia diomedea. A significant increase in separation, that is different in extent, occurs in both species as they grow from hatching to metamorphic competence. Competent M. leonina larvae exhibit a separation that is about 4.5 times that at hatching, whereas competent larvae of T. diomedea show an increase that is only 1.6 times that at hatching. The increase in separation of the lateral, serotonergic, dendritic termini (particularly in M. leonina) may allow the larva to more effectively assess left versus right differences in an as yet unknown sensory stimulus. The serotonergic innervation that arises from the apical ganglion is known to be associated with the muscles and large ciliated cells of the velum. Better right versus left discrimination of sensory stimuli experienced during the pelagic or settling larval phases may allow the larva to more precisely control swimming activities such that the likelihood of successful feeding or settlement behavior is increased.  相似文献

The E2 protein is required for the replication of human papillomaviruses (HPVs), which are responsible for anogenital warts and cervical carcinomas. Using an NMR-based screen, we tested compounds for binding to the DNA-binding domain of the HPV-E2 protein. Three classes of compounds were identified which bound to two distinct sites on the protein. Biphenyl and biphenyl ether compounds containing a carboxylic acid bind to a site near the DNA recognition helix and inhibit the binding of E2 to DNA. Benzophenone-containing compounds which lack a carboxylic acid group bind to the beta-barrel formed by the dimer interface and exhibit negligible effects on the binding of E2 to DNA. Structure-activity relationships from the biphenyl and biphenyl ether compounds were combined to produce a compound [5-(3'-(3",5"-dichlorophenoxy)-phenyl)-2,4-pentadienoic acid] with an IC50 value of approximately 10 microM. This compound represents a useful lead for the development of antiviral agents that interfere with HPV replication and further illustrates the usefulness of the SAR by NMR method in the drug discovery process.  相似文献

New 5-substituted vitamin E derivatives were semisynthesized, and their antibacterial activity against human Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens was evaluated. Several vitamin E analogues were active against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and/or methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE); structure-activity relationships (SARs) are discussed. As a result, it is shown that the presence of a carboxylic acid function at the C-5 position and/or at the end of the side chain is crucial for the antibacterial activity. The bactericidal or bacteriostatic action of three compounds against MRSA and MRSE was confirmed in a time-kill kinetics study, and the cytotoxicity on human cells was evaluated. The preliminary mechanism study by confocal microscopy indicated that those vitamin E analogues led to bacterial cell death through membrane disruption.  相似文献

Lacticaseibacillus paracasei CNCM I-5369, formerly Lactobacillus paracasei CNCM I-5369, produces bacteriocins that are remarkably active against Gram-negative bacteria, among which is the Escherichia coli-carrying mcr-1 gene that is involved in resistance to colistin. These bacteriocins present in the culture supernatant of the producing strain were extracted and semi-purified. The fraction containing these active bacteriocins was designated as E20. Further, E20 was loaded onto alginate nanoparticles (Alg NPs), leading to a highly active nano-antibiotics formulation named hereafter Alg NPs/E20. The amount of E20 adsorbed on the alginate nanoparticles was 12 wt.%, according to high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis. The minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) values obtained with E20 ranged from 250 to 2000 μg/mL, whilst those recorded for Alg NPs/E20 were comprised between 2 and 4 μg/mL, which allowed them to gain up to 500-fold in the anti-E. coli activity. The damages caused by E20 and/or Alg NPs/E20 on the cytology of the target bacteria were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) imaging and the quantification of intracellular proteins released following treatment of the target bacteria with these antimicrobials. Thus, loading these bacteriocins on Alg NPs appeared to improve their activity, and the resulting nano-antibiotics stand as a promising drug delivery system.  相似文献
