Modelling and characterization of AlN-actuated microcantilevers vibrating in the first in-plane mode

The characterization of the first in-plane mode of aluminum nitride-actuated piezoelectric microcantilevers was carried out by using electrical and optical techniques. The top electrode of the cantilever was specifically designed to allow for an efficient electrical actuation of these in-plane modes. In order to confirm the in-plane nature of the modal vibration, the detection of the electrically induced movement was performed optically with the help of a stroboscopic microscope. In parallel, resonances were also measured electrically by means of an impedance analyzer. The quality factor and the resonant frequencies of the in-plane modes were estimated from the corresponding measurement data when applying both detection techniques. Our results show quality factor values as high as 3,000 for the first in-plane mode in air. 相似文献

Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs) are an important networking infrastructure for providing cost-efficient broadband wireless connectivity to a group of users. WMNs are increasingly being used in urban, metropolitan and municipal area networks for deployment of medical, transport, surveillance systems, etc. The performance and operability of WMNs largely depends on placement of mesh routers nodes in the geographical area to achieve network connectivity and stability. The objective is to find an optimal and robust topology of the mesh router network to support intelligent telecommunication services to clients such as adaptive and flexible wireless Internet access, mobile data, voice, video in addition to supporting other preferred client services. In this work, we propose and evaluate local search methods for intelligent placement of mesh routers in WMNs with a two fold objective: maximizing the size of the giant component in the network and user coverage. Given a grid area where to distribute a given number of mesh router nodes, which can have different radio coverage, and a number of fixed clients a priori distributed in the given area, local search methods explore different local movements and incrementally improve the quality of the router nodes placement in terms of network connectivity and user coverage. We have experimentally evaluated the proposed local search methods through a benchmark of generated instances of varying sizes. Moreover, different distributions of mesh clients (Uniform, Normal, Exponential and Weibull) are used. The experimental evaluation showed the good performance of local search methods for optimizing network connectivity and user coverage in WMNs. 相似文献

The problem of determining the trajectories to control greenhouse crop growth has traditionally been solved by using constrained optimization or applying artificial intelligence techniques. The economic profit has been used as the main criterion in most research on optimization to obtain adequate climatic control setpoints for the crop growth. This paper addresses the problem of greenhouse crop growth through a hierarchical control architecture governed by a high-level multiobjective optimization approach, where the solution to this problem is to find reference trajectories for diurnal and nocturnal temperatures (climate-related setpoints) and electrical conductivity (fertirrigation-related setpoints). The objectives are to maximize profit, fruit quality, and water-use efficiency, these being currently fostered by international rules. Supervisory control of distributed DES with a global specification and local supervisors is a difficult problem. For global specifications, the equivalent conditions for local control synthesis to equal global control synthesis may not be met. This paper formulates and solves a control synthesis problem for a generator with a global specification and with a combination of a coordinator and local controllers. Conditional controllability is proven to be an equivalent condition for the existence of such a coordinated controller. A procedure to compute the least restrictive solution within our coordination control architecture is provided and conditions under which the result coincides with the supremal controllable sublanguage are stated. 相似文献

In this paper, we prove that the most important concept of supervisory control of discrete-event systems, the controllability property, is undecidable for two deterministic context-free languages and , where is prefix closed, even though is a subset of . If is not a subset of , the undecidability follows from the work by Sreenivas. However, the case where is a subset of does not follow from that work because it is decidable whether and are equivalent as shown by Sénizergues. Thus, our result completes this study. The problem is also mentioned as open in the Ph.D. thesis by Griffin, who extended the supervisory control framework so that the specification language is modeled as a deterministic context-free language (compared to the classical approach where the specification is regular) and the plant language is regular. This approach is of interest because it brings an opportunity for more concise representations of the specification (as discussed, e.g., in the work by Geffert et al.) and, therefore, in some sense it treats the most interesting problem of current supervisory control theory, the state-space explosion problem. 相似文献

Adaptive Optics (AO) systems enable to compensate the adverse effects of atmospheric turbulence on ground-based telescopes’ images in real time, using a deformable mirror (DM) inserted in the telescope’s optical path, and measurements provided by a wavefront sensor (WFS). This paper revisits minimum-variance (MV) control design for astronomical AO systems in a state-space framework. It presents a survey of the modeling and control issues arising in this multi-variable disturbance rejection problem. In a linear time-invariant framework, and under some mild assumptions, the optimal solution to MV control for AO systems is shown to be a discrete-time LQG controller. This result holds for a DM with instantaneous response, and for a fairly general class of DM’s dynamics. The state-space approach is extended to Wide-field Adaptive Optics (WfAO) configurations involving several DMs and/or WFSs. Integral-action control used in existing AO systems is compared with the LQG controller. Experimental WfAO results obtained on a laboratory test bench are presented, showing significant improvement in performance. Finally, open issues and perspectives of applicative and/or theoretical interests are discussed. 相似文献

In this paper we address several issues arising from a singularly perturbed fourth order problem with small parameter ε. First, we introduce a new family of non-conforming elements. We then prove that the corresponding finite element method is robust with respect to the parameter ε and uniformly convergent to order h 1/2. In addition, we analyze the effect of treating the Neumann boundary condition weakly by Nitsche’s method. We show that such treatment is superior when the parameter ε is smaller than the mesh size h and obtain sharper error estimates. Such error analysis is not restricted to the proposed elements and can easily be carried out to other elements as long as the Neumann boundary condition is imposed weakly. Finally, we discuss the local error estimates and the pollution effect of the boundary layers in the interior of the domain. 相似文献

Free-Form Deformation Techniques (FFD) are commonly used to generate animations, where a polygonal approximation of the final object suffices for visualization purposes. However, for some CAD/CAM applications, we need an explicit expression of the object, rather than a collection of sampled points. If both object and deformation are polynomial, their composition yields a result that is also polynomial, albeit very high degree, something undesirable in real applications. To solve this problem, we transform each curve or surface composing the object, usually expressed in the Bernstein basis, to a modified Newton form. In this representation, the two-point analogue of Taylor expansions, the composition admits a simple expression in terms of discrete convolutions, and degree reduction corresponding to Hermite approximation is trivial by dropping high-degree coefficients. Furthermore, degree-reduction can be incorporated into the composition. Finally, the deformed curve or surface is converted back to the Bernstein form. This method extends to general non-polynomial deformation, such as bending and twisting, by computing a polynomial approximant of the deformation. 相似文献
