In the present investigation, microstructure of the modified 9Cr–1Mo (T91) steel was refined through thermo-mechanical treatment (TMT). The finer precipitation of M23C6 and MX precipitates were observed in the TMT processed T91 steel. Creep deformation behaviour of T91 steel and TMT processed T91 steel was carried out at 923 K. The minimum creep rate of the TMT processed steel was significantly lowered as compared to T91 steel. The TMT processing of modified 9Cr–1Mo steel resulted in enhancement of creep strength due to presence of finer precipitates which relatively delayed the recovery of dislocation structure and coarsening of sub-boundaries than the steel in the normalized and tempered condition.  相似文献

Single layered aluminium doped tin oxide (ATO), fluorine doped zinc oxide (FZO) and bi-layered ATO/FZO thin films were deposited onto preheated glass substrates (Ts = 340 ± 5 °C) using a low-cost and simplified spray pyrolysis technique. The structural, optical, electrical and surface morphological properties of the bi-layered ATO/FZO thin films were studied and compared with that of the single layered films. The average optical transmittance of the bi-layer film in the visible range was found to be around 80 %. The bi-layered ATO/FZO films possessed both better transmittance in the visible range and sharp absorption edge, the unique desirable features of ATO and FZO films, respectively. The optical band gap (Eg) value of the bi-layer coating (3.22 eV) was found to lie between the Eg values of single layered ATO (3.71 eV) and FZO (3.20 eV) films. Sheet resistance values of ATO and FZO single layer films were 3.47 and 11.2 kΩ/sq., respectively. The bi-layered ATO/FZO thin films exhibited a sheet resistance of 4.42 kΩ/sq. which was very much close to that of ATO films and three times less than that of FZO film. The AFM images showed the good packing density and homogeneity of the surface of the bi-layer films. The annealing studies clearly showed that the ATO over layer remarkably improved the thermal stability of the bi-layered film.  相似文献

Monitoring of tool wear during hard turning is essential. Many investigators have analyzed the acoustic emission (AE) signals generated during machining to understand the metal cutting process and for monitoring tool wear and failure. In the current study on hard turning, the skew and kurtosis parameters of the root mean square values of AE signal (AERMS) are used to monitor tool wear. The rubbing between the tool and the workpiece increases as the tool wear crosses a threshold, thereby shifting the mass of AERMS distribution to right, leading to a negative skew. The increased rubbing also led to a high kurtosis value in the AERMS distribution curve.  相似文献

Pyrolysis kinetics of thermal decomposition of bitumen was investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). TGA experiments were conducted at multiple heating rates of 5, 10, 20°C min–1 up to 800°C to obtain the pyrolysis characteristics of bitumen. Weight loss curve from TGA shows that two different stages occurred during bitumen pyrolysis. Differential method has been used for determining the kinetic parameters and the best fit for the order of reaction was found based on the R2 values. Kinetics results confirm the presence of two different stages in bitumen pyrolysis with varying kinetic parameters. The average activation energy for the first and second stage was 29 and 60 kJ mol?1 and the average order of the reaction was 1.5 and 0.25, respectively. Experiments have been conducted with different reservoir sand. The effect of different source of sand reveals no effect on the pyrolysis behaviour of bitumen. A considerable difference was found with the pyrolysis of bitumen–sand mixtures and bitumen alone based on coke yield and activation energy. © 2011 Canadian Society for Chemical Engineering  相似文献

Partially conjugated monobenzo 18-crown-6 substituted oligo (p-phenylenevinylene) (MB-OPV) was synthesized via Wittig route. Formation of the oligomer was characterized by spectral (FTIR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR), elemental and gel permeation chromatography analysis. The morphology of the oligomer film of one-dimensional (1D) and three-dimensional (3D) architectures were observed using atomic force microscopy. The oligomer showed excellent photoluminescence (PL) of bluish green emission at shorter wavelength of 542 nm. Stability of the polymer and glass transition temperature was determined by TGA/DSC. The dielectric properties such as dielectric constant and loss factor for the oligomer have also been studied with respect to change of frequency (50 Hz–5 MHz) and temperature (30–90 °C). The value of dielectric constant decreased with increasing frequency which indicates that the major contribution comes from orientation polarization. The value of dielectric constant increased with increasing temperature which is due to greater freedom of movement of the dipole molecular chains within the oligomer at high temperature.  相似文献

Here, we describe biosynthesis of silver nanoparticles by reduction of aqueous Ag+ ions with the culture supernatant of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular level identification of the strain GS1 resembles P. aeruginosa. The nanoparticles synthesized by P. aeruginosa were characterized by UV–vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering (DLS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The size-distribution of nanoparticles was determined using a particle-size analyzer and the average particle-size was found to be 80 nm. The biological activities of the synthesized silver nanoparticles like antimicrobial activity were confirmed against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and it have stable anti-coagulant effect.  相似文献

Polylinen® fabrics are obtained as a result of modification in the physical structure of polyester yarns to replicate the linen fabric. The scanning electron microscope analysis and Fourier transform infrared results reveal that the plasma treated fabric surface is effectively modified to enhance the wettability of the fabrics. In the present study, response surface methodology was employed to investigate the effects of different plasma treatment variables on the wetting behavior of polylinen fabrics. Box–Behnken design was used for the optimization of plasma treatment process and to evaluate the effects and interactions of the process variables, i.e. treatment time, power, and distance between the electrodes on the wettability of polylinen fabrics. The optimum conditions for maximum wicking height (4.3?cm) and spreading rate (86?s) of polylinen fabrics were established at 75?s treatment time, 460 watt power, and 2.5?cm distance between the electrodes. The plasma treated polylinen fabrics showed much better wettability in terms of wicking and spreading rate compared to untreated fabrics, which confirms that the modified structure of polylinen fabric and the plasma treatment influences the wettability of fabrics.  相似文献

An effort was made not only to demonstrate the performance of the self-cleaning coatings on building materials such as ceramic glazed tiles and glass windows, but also to understand the fundamental issues that are still alive in the field of self-cleaning surfaces based on photocatalysis. Nano TiO2 transparent thin films were generated by dip, spray and flow coating method. The present results indicate that the inconsistent results in the self-cleaning studies may be due to the effect of aggregation of model pollutant (methylene blue) dye on TiO2 surface. The effect of aliovalent metal ion (Ni2+, Fe3+, Nb5+) doping on phase formation, polymorphic transition, visible light absorbance and optical transparency of TiO2 film were investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV visible absorption spectroscopy. The improved visible light activity of doped TiO2 thin film was correlated to the Ti(Ni/Fe)O3 phase formation, UV and visible light absorbance, variation in the optical energy band gap and the probable light scattering associated with grain size.  相似文献

A new testing procedure, employing transverse load was adopted to investigate the high cycle fatigue behaviour of low pressure cast AZ91 magnesium alloy. The tests were conducted with an electro dynamic shaker system by employing specimens fabricated as per ASTM standard. SN plot was generated from the test results and compared with that of gravity cast AZ91 alloy tested in identical ambience. The influence of transverse load on the fatigue behaviour of these alloys is discussed. As fatigue cracks were found to have initiated in pores in most of the tested samples, pores were assumed as initial cracks as per linear fracture mechanics and the critical stress intensity amplitude (Kcr) was estimated. Structure–fatigue property correlations are discussed using fractographs. Mean stress effect on the fatigue properties and effects of alloying constituents are also discussed.  相似文献

Blends of EPDM and chlorobutyl (CIIR) rubbers are used in nuclear plants where they have to withstand the combined effect of radiation and hydrocarbon aging. To improve their mechanical properties as well as hydrocarbon and gamma radiation resistance, the blends are reinforced with 0.5, 1, 1.5, and 2 phr of MWCNT. The increase in mechanical properties was highest for 1.5 phr MWCNT with 69% increase in tensile strength. The improvement in properties was correlated to MWCNT dispersion and filler–polymer interactions, which were confirmed by TEM and FTIR analysis. Hydrocarbon transport coefficients decreased on addition of MWCNT. The nanocomposites were exposed to 0.5, 1, and 2 MGy cumulative doses of gamma radiation. Depending on the radiation dose, crosslinking and/or chain scission occurred causes changes in physical properties. MWCNT reinforcement reduced the magnitude of changes in mechanical and transport properties after γ-irradiation. ESR and FTIR spectra provided qualitative information on free radical formation and chemical changes due to γ-rays exposure. To further enhance the properties, hybrid nanocomposites with 1.5 phr MWCNT and varying nanoclay contents (0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, and 5 phr) were prepared. Due to synergism between MWCNT and nanoclay, the hybrid composites had superior properties with hybrid containing 5 phr nanoclay giving 98% increase in tensile strength.  相似文献
