Tensile strength of Y2 O3 -stabilized ZrO2 polycrystals (Y-TZP) was measured by a newly developed tensile testing method with a rectangular bar. The tensile strength of Y-TZP was lower than that of the three-point bend strength, and the shape of the tensile strength distribution was quite different from that of the three-point bend strength distribution. It was difficult to predict the distribution curve of the tensile strength using the data of the three-point bend strength by one-modal Weibull distribution. The distribution of the tensile strength was analyzed by two- or three-model Weibull distribution coupled with an analysis of fracture origins. The distribution curve of the three-point bend strength which was estimated by multimodal Weibull distribution agreed favorably with that of the measured three-point bend strength values. A two-modal Weibull distribution function was formulated approximately from the distributions of the tensile and three-point bend strengths, and the estimated two-modal Weibull distribution function for the four-point bend strength agreed well with the measured four-point bend strength. 相似文献

Calvarial bone defect associated with a hugh neurofibroma in the region of the lambdoid suture was reported in a 42-year-old man with v. Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis. An enlarging occipital tumor was first noted at age 4 similar to or approximately 5, and an operation was performed at age 12. Lambda defect was noted at that time, but the operative diagnosis was, apparently, "meningocele". Available literature was reviewed, and the significance of calvarial bone defect in the region of the lambdoid suture as a manifestation of v. Recklinghausen's disease was stressed. Lambda defect witn no sclerosing margin, particularly if associated with hypoplasia of the ipsilateral mastoid cells, has been known to represent the primary nature of the bone defect due to mesodermal dysplasia. In the present case, plain radiographs of the skull revealed abnormal sclerotic change around the bone defect. It is suggested that such an osteoblastic change may well indicate the secondary nature of the bone defect due to the presence of overlying neurogenic tumor. 相似文献

SiO2–TiO2 spherical microparticles of about 0.7 μm in diameter were prepared by the sol–gel method. Anatase nanocrystals were formed in the microparticles and their specific surface area was increased after a hot-water treatment at 90 °C. From the changes in the concentration of I2 photocatalytically generated from KI aqueous solution, the activity of the SiO2–TiO2 microparticles was found to increase with increasing the hot-water treatment time. Particulate, thick films were electrophoretically deposited on indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass substrates using the anatase nanocrystal-precipitated SiO2–TiO2 microparticles. The thickness of the electrophoretically deposited particulate film increased to be approximately 10 μm with an increase in applied voltage. The impact of radiation damage on the device performance of 4H-SiC Schottky diodes, which are irradiated at room temperature with 2-MeV electrons is studied. After irradiation the reverse current increases, while the forward current and the capacitance decrease with barrier height and carrier density. The decrease of the barrier height is mainly responsible for the increase of the reverse current, while the decrease of the forward current for a high fluence is caused by the increase of the resistance in the bulk of the crystal. Although no electron capture levels are observed before irradiation, three electron capture levels (E1, E2, and E3) are induced after irradiation. It is noted that the decrease in carrier density is partly caused by the contribution of non-observed electron capture level in the DLT spectrum, which compensates the free carriers. 相似文献

Peculiar magnetic domain walls produced in Heusler alloys, which have attracted renewed interest due to their potential application to actuators and spintronic devices, are studied here using electron holography. The observations reveal unexpectedly narrow magnetic domain walls, the width of which showed perfect agreement with that of the antiphase boundaries (APB, e.g., only 3 nm). While the results can be explained by the significant depression of ferromagnetism due to the local chemical disorder, the electron phase shift indicates that ferromagnetic correlation still remains in the APB region. 相似文献

Microwave heating, because of its advantages of direct and rapid heating of materials, has the potential to be employed as a novel regeneration method of desiccant rotors in humidity conditioners. We proposed a combined regeneration process, which combines microwave heating and conventional hot-air heating. The system is expected to achieve high heating rate during an initial regeneration period by assisting water desorption using the additional energy of the microwave. In this study, the regeneration characteristics of a desiccant rotor were experimentally investigated under conditions of microwave heating, hot-air heating, and combined heating at various microwave powers and hot-air temperatures. The effectiveness of the combined regeneration was evaluated in terms of the regeneration ratio, the initial regeneration rate, the temperature distribution in the rotor, and finally in terms of the energy consumption. It was demonstrated that combined heating was effective at leveling non-uniform temperature distribution in the rotor. Combined heating achieved higher ratios and initial rates in regeneration compared to just microwave and hot-air heating. This result was obviously attributed to the additional input of microwave energy, resulting that average rotor temperature increased by microwave absorption of rotor. Moreover, it was also effective for enhancement of regeneration to level the temperature distribution in the rotor by combination of two heating methods with different heating mechanisms. Both the initial regeneration rate and the equilibrium regeneration ratio for combined heating were found to increase as the microwave power increased. A linear relationship was observed with respect to microwave power. From the viewpoint of energy consumption, it may be possible to apply combined and microwave heating to humidity control systems that switch between adsorption and regeneration in short cycle times, if the conversion and absorption efficiencies of the microwave are significantly improved. 相似文献
