Magnetostructural correlations in antiperovskite manganese nitrides were investigated systematically for stoichiometric and solid solution Mn3Cu1?xAxN (A = Co, Ni, Zn, Ga, Ge, Rh, Pd, Ag, In, Sn or Sb). This class of nitrides is attracting great attention because of their giant negative thermal expansion, which is achieved by doping Ge or Sn into the A site as a relaxant of the sharp volume contraction on heating (spontaneous volume magnetostriction ωs) because of the magnetovolume effects. The physical background of large ωs and mechanism of how the volume contraction becomes gradual with temperature are central concerns for the physics and applications of these nitrides. An entire dataset of thermal expansion, crystal structure and magnetization demonstrates that the cubic triangular antiferromagnetic state is crucial for large ωs. The intimate relationship between ωs and the magnetic structure is discussed in terms of geometrical frustration related to the Mn6N octahedron and magnetic stress concept. The results presented herein also show that ωs depends on the number of d electrons in the A atom, suggesting the important role of the d orbitals of the A atom. Not all the dopants in the A site, but the elements that disturb the cubic triangular antiferromagnetic state, are effective in broadening the volume change. This fact suggests that instability neighboring the phase boundary is related to the broadening. The relation between the gradual volume change and the local structure anomaly is suggested by recent microprobe studies. 相似文献

We introduce a multiplicative measurement error model and analyze a gauge R & R study with the new model using data from a sample exchange program. Some aspects of designing a gauge R & R study are considered. Also, we analyze data from a factorial experiment where the measurement error arises from the new model using a simultaneous analysis of experimental and gauge R & R study data. This article considers the impact of a measurement system that meets the 4:1 rule. Probabilities of accepting a bad part and rejecting a good part are evaluated. A simulation study calculates the increased estimates of the population standard deviation when the measurement error is ignored, where both non‐trending and trending populations are considered. Also, the impact of sample size is evaluated on estimates and upper confidence bounds of the measurement system standard deviation that are used to assess the 4:1 rule capability; both measurement systems from a single and multiple sources of variation are explored. The direct ink writing of an ink composed of a preceramic polymer and fillers was used to produce hardystonite (Ca2ZnSi2O7) bioceramic scaffolds. Suitable formulations were developed for the extrusion of fine filaments (350 μm diameter) through a nozzle. The preceramic polymer was employed with the double purpose of contributing to the rheology of the ink by increasing its viscosity and of forming the hardystonite phase upon heat treatment by reacting with the fillers. A control of the rheology is essential when spanning features have to be produced, and therefore the main rheological characteristics of the inks were measured (flow curves, dynamic oscillation tests, viscosity recovery tests) and compared to models reported in the literature. Highly porous scaffolds (up to 80% total porosity) were produced and heat treated in air or in nitrogen atmosphere. The influence of the heat‐treatment atmosphere on the morphology, crystalline phase assemblage, and compressive strength of the scaffolds was investigated. 相似文献

We have investigated fluid flow characteristics of film‐wise condensation on vertical plates with horizontal periodic grooves. Condensate stays at the edge of the grooves due to the surface tension. The condensate starts to flow, however, when the balance between the surface tension and the condensate's own weight is broken. It is found that the condensate flows downward successively and periodically from the top part of the plate as a group. In addition, we have obtained the relation between the frequencies of the periodic flow and the degree of sub‐cooling for two different pitches of the grooves. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. First-principles calculations were performed to investigate the effect of Pd concentration and oxygen vacancies on the stability of Pd at LaFeO3 surfaces. We found a much stronger tendency of Pd to segregate by taking the aggregation of Pd at LaFe1-xPdxO3-y surfaces into consideration, resulting in a pair of Pd-Pd around a vacancy. Moreover, we predicted that one oxygen-vacancy-containing FeO2-terminated surfaces would be stable at high temperatures by comparing the stability of LaFe1-xPdxO3-y surfaces, which further supports our previous conclusion that a Pd-containing perovskite catalyst should be calcined at 1,073 K or higher temperatures in air to enhance the segregation of Pd in the vicinity of surfaces to rapidly transform the Pd catalyst from oxidized to reduced states on the perovskite support. 相似文献

The present novel approach consists of two stages: in the first stage the many-electron states of a CuO6 octahedron or a CuO5 pyramid are calculated by the first-principles variational method, by taking into account the local distortions of a CuO6 octahedron or a CuO5 pyramid. In the second stage a metallic state is constructed in the presence of the local AF ordering constructed by the localized spins. In this metallic state the local distortions are treated in the mean field approximation, so that a pseudopolaronic effect is taken into account. Based on this approach, the hole-concentration dependence of T

BACKGROUND & AIMS: Endothelin 1 is considered to be an important regulator of sinusoidal blood flow and increases during endotoxemia. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of endothelin 1 in hepatic microcirculation, oxygen transport, and liver injury during endotoxemia. METHODS: Male Sprague-Dawley rats were continuously infused with 2.5 mL/h of saline, 0.8 mg . kg-1 . h-1 of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), 3 mg . kg-1 . h-1 of BQ-485, an endothelin A-receptor antagonist, or LPS plus BQ-485 for 7 hours. RESULTS: BQ-485 infusion had no significant effect on hepatic microcirculation and liver injury. LPS increased the plasma levels of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and total bilirubin and decreased the hepatic adenosine triphosphate (ATP) level and bile flow rate. LPS + BQ-485 infusion further increased the plasma levels of AST and total bilirubin and decreased the bile flow rate and the hepatic ATP level. Dual-spot microspectroscopy revealed mild decreases in sinusoidal erythrocyte velocity and oxygen transport in the LPS group and profound decreases in these parameters in the LPS + BQ-485 group. Histological examinations revealed massive necrotic changes in the pericentral regions of the LPS + BQ-485 group. CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that blockade of endothelin A receptors disturbs hepatic microcirculation and oxygen transport and aggravates the necrotic injury induced by endotoxin. 相似文献

A 78-year-old female was admitted with complaints of malaise and fatigue in the legs. The patient was diagnosed as severe aplastic anemia and treatment was started with metenolone and steroid pulse therapy. Administration of antibiotics and granulocyte-colony stimulating factor which led to a resolution of the high fever. About four months after admission, the patient developed vomiting and abdominal pain with a spiking fever. The next day after suddenly losing consciousness, she died. B. cereus was isolated from blood cultures. Autopsy specimens of the liver, cardiac muscle and lung showed changes due to B. cereus. This pathogen is widely distributed in nature. We should not overlook B. cereus as a contamination, but rather should consider it a potential pathogen in immunocompromised hosts, when it is isolated from blood cultures. 相似文献
