The optimal tracking problem for multiple‐input multiple‐output linear‐time‐invariant discrete‐time systems with communication constraints in the feedback path is studied in this paper. The tracking performance is measured by the energy of the error signal between the output of the plant and the reference signal. The objective is to obtain an optimal tracking performance, attainable by all possible stabilizing compensators. It is shown that the optimal tracking performance consists of two parts, one depends on the nonminimum phase zeros and zero direction of the given plant, as well as the reference input signal direction, and the other depends on the nonminimum phase zeros, unstable poles, and pole direction of the given plant, as well as the bandwidth and additive white Gaussian noise of the communication channel. It is also shown that, if the constraint of the communication channel does not exist, the optimal tracking performance reduces to the existing tracking performance of the control system without communication constraints. Abstract— A low‐voltage (~10 Vrms) and high‐transmittance (~90%) polymer‐stabilized blue‐phase liquid‐crystal (BPLC) device with a slanted‐electrodes structure is proposed. Unlike the vertical‐field‐switching (VFS) mode in which oblique incident light and a vertical field are employed, the proposed device utilizes normal incident light and an oblique field. The slanted electrodes generate a strong and uniform oblique electric field, which contributes in obtaining low voltage and high transmittance. Moreover, no couple films or prism sheets are needed, which helps to enhance the optical efficiency and simplify of the device structure. In places where mobile users can access multiple wireless networks simultaneously, a multipath scheduling algorithm can benefit the performance of wireless networks and improve the experience of mobile users. However, existing literature shows that it may not be the case, especially for TCP flows. According to early investigations, there are mainly two reasons that result in bad performance of TCP flows in wireless networks. One is the occurrence of out-of-order packets due to different delays in multiple paths. The other is the packet loss which is resulted from the limited bandwidth of wireless networks. To better exploit multipath scheduling for TCP flows, this paper presents a new scheduling algorithm named Adaptive Load Balancing Algorithm (ALBAM) to split traffic across multiple wireless links within the ISP infrastructure. Targeting at solving the two adverse impacts on TCP flows, ALBAM develops two techniques. Firstly, ALBAM takes advantage of the bursty nature of TCP flows and performs scheduling at the flowlet granularity where the packet interval is large enough to compensate for the different path delays. Secondly, ALBAM develops a Packet Number Estimation Algorithm (PNEA) to predict the buffer usage in each path. With PNEA, ALBAM can prevent buffer overflow and schedule the TCP flow to a less congested path before it suffers packet loss. architectures. NGN provides AAA (Anytime, Anywhere and Always on) access to users from different service providers with consistent
and ubiquitous provision of services as necessary. This special issue of NGN includes pervasive, grid, and peer-to-peer computing
to provide computing and communication services at anytime and anywhere. In fact, the application of NGN includes digital
image processing, multimedia systems/services, and so on. Here we focus on the digital image processing technology in NGN
environments. Low-contrast structure and heavy noise in NGN environments can be found in many kinds of digital images, which
makes the images vague and uncertainly, especially in x-ray images. As result, some useful tiny characteristic are weakened—which
are difficult to distinguish even by naked eyes. Based on the combination of no-linear grad-contrast operator and multi-resolution
wavelet analysis, a kind of image enhancement processing algorithm for useful tiny characters is presented. The algorithm
can enhance the tiny characters while confine amplifying noise. The analysis of the results shows that local regions of the
image are enhanced by using the concept of the grad contrast to make image clearer adaptively. Experiments were conducted

The decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) method is a useful tool for analyzing correlations among factors
using crisp values. However, the crisp values are inadequate to model real-life situations due to the fuzziness and uncertainty
that are frequently involved in judgments of experts. The aim of this paper is to extend the DEMATEL method to an uncertain
linguistic environment. In this paper, the correlation information among factors provided by experts is in the form of uncertain
linguistic terms. A formula is first presented to transform correlation information from uncertain linguistic terms to trapezoidal
fuzzy numbers. Then, we aggregate the transformed correlation information of each expert into group information using the
operations of trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. The importance and classification of factors are determined via fuzzy matrix operations.
Furthermore, a causal diagram is constructed to vividly show the different roles of factors. Finally, an example is used to

A simple and elegant tracking algorithm called Centroid Iteration algorithm is proposed. It employs a new Background-Weighted
similarity measure which can greatly reduce the influence from the pixels shared by the target template and background on
localization. Experiments demonstrated the Background-Weighted measure performs much better than the other similarity measures
like Kullback–Leibler divergence, Bhattacharyya coefficient and so on. It has been proved that this measure can compute the
similarity value contribution of each pixel in the target candidate, based on which, a new target search method called Centroid

This paper is concerned with improving bandwidth utilization while guaranteeing quality-of-service (QoS) requirements for multimedia applications in IEEE 802.11e HCCA wireless networks. We propose two integer-multiple-spacing-based (IMS-based) designs: the IMS-based-δ and IMS-based-l designs. In the IMS-based designs, the scheduling spacing of any traffic must be an integer multiple of the minimum spacing. The IMS-based designs have more potential to improve the bandwidth utilization because they schedule traffic with longer spacings compared with the prior designs. Besides the improvement of the bandwidth utilization, the IMS-based-δ design can guarantee the packet delay requirements, where a δ factor is introduced to ensure that the bandwidth utilization must benefit from longer spacings, while the IMS-based-l design can guarantee the packet loss requirements. Numerical results show that the improvement of the bandwidth utilization for the IMS-based-δ and -l designs can be up to 7.7% and 56% or more, respectively, compared with the prior designs. 相似文献
