Data-driven models are commonly used in a wide range of disciplines, including environmental engineering. To analyze Omerli Lake’s historic water pollution status, this study monitors data for dissolved oxygen, 5-day biochemical oxygen demand, ammonium nitrogen, nitrite nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen, and ortho phosphate. The quality of the lake water is assessed based on measurements of dissolved oxygen. The collected data are analyzed using regression analysis and artificial neural network models. The main goal of this paper is to reveal the best applicable data-driven model in order to gain forward-looking information regarding the dissolved oxygen level of the lake using other pollution parameters. In order to ascertain eutrophic status, total phosphorus loads for each year are represented on a Vollenweider diagram. Results designate an increasing risk of eutrophication for Omerli Lake in recent years. Results of the data-driven models show that the artificial neural networks model constitutes the best relationship between the dissolved oxygen and other parameters.  相似文献

The influence of the surface chemistry of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on p53 mediated cell death was evaluated using human dermal fibroblast (HDF) and lung cancer (A549) cells. The citrate reduced AgNPs (C-AgNPs) were modified with either lactose (L-AgNPs) or a 12-base long oligonucleotide (O-AgNPs). Both unmodified and modified AgNPs showed increased concentration and time dependent cytotoxicity and genotoxicity causing an increased p53 up-regulation within 6 h and led to apoptotic or necrotic cell deaths. The C-AgNPs induced more cytotoxicity and cellular DNA damage than the surface modified AgNPs. Modifying the C-AgNPs with lactose or the oligonucleotide reduced both necrotic and apoptotic cell deaths in the HDF cells. The C-AgNPs caused an insignificant necrosis in A549 cells whereas the modified AgNPs caused necrosis and apoptosis in both cell types. Compared to the O-AgNPs, the L-AgNPs triggered more cellular DNA damage, which led to up-regulation of p53 gene inducing apoptosis in A549 cells compared to HDF cells. This suggests that the different surface chemistries of the AgNPs cause different cellular responses that may be important not only for their use in medicine but also for reducing their toxicity.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new texture metamorphosis approach for interpolating texture samples from a source texture into a target texture. We use a new energy optimization scheme derived from optimal control principles which exploits the structure of the metamorphosis optimality conditions. Our approach considers the change in pixel position and pixel appearance in a single framework. In contrast to previous techniques that compute a global warping based on feature masks of textures, our approach allows to transform one texture into another by considering both intensity values and structural features of textures simultaneously. We demonstrate the usefulness of our approach for different textures, such as stochastic, semi‐structural and regular textures, with different levels of complexities. Our method produces visually appealing transformation sequences with no user interaction.  相似文献

In this study, rotation rates and power coefficients of miniature wind turbine rotor models manufactured using NACA profiles were investigated. For this purpose, miniature rotor models with 310 mm diameter were made from “Balsa” wood. When all properties of rotor models were taken into account, a total of 180 various combinations were obtained. Each combination was coded with rotor form code. These model rotors were tested in a wind tunnel measurement system. Rotation rates for each rotor form were determined based on wind speed. Power coefficient values were calculated using power and tip speed rates of wind. Rotor models produced a rotation rate up to 3077 rpm, with a power coefficient rate up to 0.425. Rotor models manufactured by using NACA 4412 profiles with 0 grade twisting angle, 5 grade blade angle, double blades had the highest rotation rate, while those manufactured by using NACA 4415 profiles with 0 grade twisting angle, 18 grade blade angle, 4 blades had the highest power coefficient.  相似文献

Foams of an engineering plastic, poly(ether imide), were extruded using a single screw extruder employing pressurized CO2 as the blowing agent. The porosity, pore size distributions, and the density of the foams were especially affected by the pressure drop, the pressure loss rate, and temperature at the die. Significant increases in porosity and pore size and corresponding decreases in density were observed when the pressure imposed on CO2 became greater than the critical pressure values of CO2 (i.e., the temperature was always greater than the critical temperature of the CO2 in the extruder and the die). The viscoelastic material functions of the extruded foams depended especially on the density of the foam, with the elastic modulus increasing with density. The incorporation of nanosilica particles in the 0.08–0.6% by weight range increased only the density of the foam and did not provide any benefits in controlling of the nucleation rate and the pore size distribution, presumably due to their poor dispersibility and agglomerated state in the single screw extruder. We aimed to determine the preferences for windows in office spaces and discover the underlying reasons which may affect design decisions. We conducted a field study on office buildings in Izmir–Turkiye. The research findings indicated that majority of users (48.6%; n=107n=107) have preferred firstly window-wall, which has the largest window area, secondly horizontal window (35%; n=77n=77) and thirdly square window types (10.9%; n=24n=24) for their own workspaces. Although having equal surface areas in the preference scale, square-shaped windows have been preferred much more than the rectangular and round shaped ones and horizontal shaped windows than the vertical ones. The window type, gender, quality of office job and quality of view created significant differences in determining prior factors behind window preferences.  相似文献

One of the most important problems of Kashar cheese producers is mold and yeast spoilage during storage. Williopsis saturnus var. saturnus killer yeast has been reported to have an antagonistic effect on mold and yeast reproduction. In this study, the antifungal effect of a whey protein concentrate (WPC) coating containing W. saturnus was investigated in Kashar cheese. WPC with or without W. saturnus (7 log CFU/g) or W. saturnus without coating was applied on the surface of Kashar cheese samples and stored at 4 °C for 56 days. Microbiological, chemical, physical and sensory properties of cheese samples were assessed. After 56 days of storage, the numbers of lactic acid bacteria were not affected by WPC containing W. saturnus; however, the population of W. saturnus increased by 1 log CFU/g. Application of W. saturnus reduced the growth of other yeasts and molds (P < 0.05). Chemical, physical and sensory properties of all coated cheeses remained unchanged. In a conclusion, use of WPC coatings containing W. saturnus can potentially minimize mold and yeast spoilage of cheese during storage.  相似文献

Seal integrity and seal strength are important requirements in the heat sealing of flexible packaging. In this article, the influence of talc compounds and different process parameters, such as film tension and contamination on the sealant films consisting of polypropylene and low-density polyethylene blend were investigated. According to the results, increasing the talc ratio from 0% wt to 30% wt positively influenced both hot and cold seal strength. Among different polymer blends having same talc ratio, the sample having the lowest melt flow index (2.84 dg/min at 230°C and 2.16 kg) showed the highest cold seal strength with 9.07 N/25 mm. On the other hand, in the samples with higher melt flow indexes, less seal integrity issues were observed in the presence of contaminants. Elevated film tensions from 0 to 0.4 N/mm2 enhanced the seal strengths significantly at the seal initiation temperatures of each film. However, this situation changed at higher operating temperatures due to the increased orientation and brittleness. Besides, in the presence of contaminant coffee particles at the seal interphase, high film tensions adversely affected the seal integrity since the average leakage increased 2.7% for samples A and B, and 7.4% for sample C. In summary, it has been shown that talc incorporation can improve seal strength, high MFI can fill the gaps at the seal interphase and the high levels of film tension (above 0.16 N/mm2) during sealing as well as the contamination need to be avoided to ensure integrity sealing.  相似文献
