Analysis of transition of a deterministic self-oscillating microwave system to the chaotic generation mode

The results of an experiment on the development of a high-efficiency noise generator by transferring an avalanche-diode self-oscillator to the chaotic generation mode are presented. It is demonstrated that the noise level of such a generator exceeds by far the analogous parameter of traditional microwave noise sources.

The detection of an external acoustic impact on an optical fiber using a scattered-light interferometer

The results of a study of a scattered-light interferometer for detecting external acoustic impacts on optical fiber are presented. A method of scattered field demodulation using the phase diversity technique is proposed. The demodulated signal is shown to contain regions of fading, the causes of which are analyzed.     

A bolometer with thermal feedback: Testing of a prototype on the T-11M facility

A prototype of a bolometer with a deep thermal feedback (TF) is described. It allows stabilization of the temperature of an absorbing film at a level of 700–800°C by the control of its thermal radiation. The prototype was tested on a light-ion accelerator and a T-11M tokamak. The results obtained confirm the possibility of practically realize such advantages of the TF bolometer over conventional devices as a fast response, direct measurement of the incident power, improved stability, and a reduced influence of the drift of the intrinsic parameters of the sensor. The questions of the selection of optimal structural parameters of such bolometers and calculation of their threshold characteristics are considered.     

Application of the diagrams of phase transformations during aging for optimizing the aging conditions for V1469 and 1441 Al-Li alloys

To describe the changes in the phase composition of alloys during aging, it is convenient to construct TTT diagrams on the temperature-aging time coordinates in which time-temperature regions of the existence of nonequilibrium phases that form during aging are indicated. As a rule, in constructing the diagrams of phase transformations during aging (DPTA), time-temperature maps of properties are plotted. A comparison of the diagrams with maps of properties allows one to analyze the effect of the structure on the properties. In this study, we analyze the DPTAs of V1469 (Al-1.2 Li-0.46 Ag-3.4 Cu-0.66 Mg) and 1441 (Al-1.8 Li-1.1 Mg-1.6 Cu, C _Mg/C _Cu ≈ 1) alloys. Examples of the application of DPTA for the development of steplike aging conditions are reported.     

Evolution of a superheated water spray in air flow

Experimental data on the distribution of dispersion parameters, shape of superheated water spray, and its evolution in a carrying air flow are presented. It is shown that the layout of spray system atomizers must be developed taking into account the fact that the spray of finely dispersed droplets is prone to intensive stringing.     

Typical features of measurement of the flow rate of biological fluid in hemodialysis machines

We consider the typical features of application of the laser Doppler method for determination of blood flow rate in hemodialysis machines. We have analyzed the scattering characteristics of blood and blood flow in the blood tubing. We have obtained estimates of the basic parameters of the Doppler signal and we present the optical layout of the flowmeter.

A ladle-treatment system for steel supplied to continuous-casting machine 6 has been introduced in the oxygen-converter shop at OAO Magnitogorskii Metallurgicheskii Kombinat. This permits the introduction of world-class new products at the 5000 thick-sheet mill and the manufacture of increased-strength pipe blanks for the oil and gas industry.
