In wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) the production of nitrite as an intermediate in the biological nutrient removal (BNR) process has been widely observed, but not been taken into account by most of the conventional activated sludge models yet. This work aims to develop a mechanistic mathematical model to evaluate the BNR process after resolving such a problem. A mathematical model is developed based on the Activated Sludge Model No.3 (ASM3) and the EAWAG Bio‐P model with an incorporation of the two‐step nitrification–denitrification, the anoxic P uptake, and the associated two‐step denitrification by phosphorus accumulating organisms. The database used for simulations originates from a full‐scale BNR municipal wastewater treatment plant. The influent wastewater composition is characterized using batch tests. Model predictions are compared with the measured concentrations of chemical oxygen demand (COD), NH‐N, NO‐N, NO‐N, PO‐P, and mixed liquid volatile suspended solids. Simulation results indicate that the calibrated model is capable of predicting the microbial growth, COD removal, nitrification and denitrification, as well as aerobic and anoxic P removal. We report synthesis and characterization of two D-A polymers (PSDT-C12 and PSDT-EH) with different side chains. Both polymers are based on alternate 12,13-dioctyl-indolo[2,3-a][1,2,5]thiadiazolo[3,4-c]carbazole (TDZIC) and dithienosilole derivative units in polymer main chain. We used TDZIC to enlarge the 2D conjugated plane of acceptor monomers by fusing benzothiadiazole (BT) unit with an indole unit having alkyl groups. PSDT-C12 exhibited 10 nm redshift compared to PSDT-EH in solid films, while their absorption spectra were almost identical in solutions. Since the backbone and side chains on the indolocarbazole group are the same, the redshift on PSDT-C12 could be resulted from the dodecyl (C12) side chain on the dithienosilole unit and different molecular weight between these two polymers. PSDT-C12 has a larger molecular weight than PSDT-EH. Therefore possibly both side chains and molecular weight contributed to the difference in the absorption spectra in solid films. The straight C-12 side chain has less steric hindrance than the branched EH side chain in solid films. PSDT-C12 has a longer main chain (larger molecule weight) than PSDT-EH, which can favour a more extended main chain interaction. The vibronic peak at 519 nm and shoulder at 563 nm in the PSDT-C12 film further confirmed stronger main chain interaction. Geometry optimization showed that head–tail (HT)-PSDT had a more twisting conjugated backbone with larger dihedral angle between dithienosilole unit and thiadiazole-fused ring compared to head–head/tail–tail (HH/TT)-PSDT. 相似文献

This paper proposes an image enhancement method based on space-adaptive, 2-D lifting scheme. In the space-adaptive update-first lifting scheme, the prediction stage is adapted to the signal structure point-by-point which results in a better signal representation and enhancement result. In this paper, a novel edge-sensitive adaptive prediction method is introduced in the 2-D lifting framework. The method adaptively chooses the best predictor among a set of predictors minimizing the prediction error. The proposed prediction method is sensitive to both even and odd indexed edge pixels in the 2-D lifting context. The bivariate shrinkage which assumes the dependence of the subband wavelet coefficients is used for subband image enhancement. As an objective quality measure, the peak signal-to-noise ratio test is applied to the results of the proposed image enhancement algorithm. Results of the proposed algorithm are compared with those of the VisuShrink, BayesShrink, and NorShrink. Experimental and objective quality test results prove the superior performance of the proposed image enhancement method. 相似文献
