The results of overall migration tests for a wide range of plastic packagings and other domestic and imported articles made of plastic intended to come into direct contact with foodstuffs are presented. In these tests the simulants specified in Directive 85/572/EEC as well as isooctane and 95% ethanol (so called alternative substances) have been used. Checking the overall migration into the four simulants specified in the above mentioned Directive it was found that the limit (equal to 10 mg/dm2 according to Directive 90/128/EEC) was exceeded in a few, very specific, cases. Comparison between overall migration from some articles into sunflower oil and isooctane was also examined. The results indicate that though the use of isooctane as an alternative substance significantly simplifies the testing procedure, exceeding an overall migration limit into isooctane is not equivalent to exceeding the limit of migration into sunflower oil. In such cases only migration into typical fatty food simulants can have a deciding meaning. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In broad been seeds (cultivars Comprimo RS and Threefoldwhite) harvested at four stages of maturity, which corresponded to dry matter content at the levels of I—25%, II—30%, III—35% and IV—40%, the content of amino acids was determined (g 16 g N−1). The determinations concerned raw broad bean and frozen products cooked for consumption. The content of total and essential amino acids was similar in the two cultivars. With increasing maturity the content of total amino acids and essential amino acids varied, showing a tendency to increase between maturity stages I and IV in all the amino acids, except aspartic acid and alanine in Threefoldwhite. In both cultivars the content of cystine and glutamic acid showed the most rapid rise. Compared with raw broad beans, intact seeds cooked for consumption contained more total amino acids. In products of Comprimo RS the total content of amino acids and essential amino acids was similar in intact seeds and in the dehulled seeds. In products from Threefoldwhite the content of total amino acids and essential amino acids was higher in intact seeds than in dehulled seeds except in the most mature sample where these values were similar. Hot corrosion of Ni3Al intermetallic compound in the presence of sulphate-chloride mixtures was studied. A comminuted Ni3Al mixed with NaCl-Na2SO4, NaCl-Li2SO4, LiCl-Na2SO4, LiCl-Li2SO4 additions was oxidized in the air up to 1000 °C with linearly increasing temperature and isothermally within the temperature range of 500-700 °C. The corrosion process was observed by thermogravimetric method using Mettler thermoanalyzer.The experiments indicated that LiCl (∼10 wt.%)-Li2SO4 mixture was the most corrosive agent. It was also found that by addition of MgO the corrosion of Ni3Al was reduced. Phase composition of the corrosion products was established by X-ray diffraction analysis; there were detected Al2O3, Al2S3, NaAlO2 (or LiAlO2) as intermediate products, nickel sulphides, NiO and NiAl2O4. NiAl2O4 spinel was formed only at the highest temperatures, while at lower temperatures alumina was present instead of spinel.Hot corrosion behaviour of Ni3Al in sulphate-chloride mixtures in air atmosphere.  相似文献

A time-series (1990–2013) of classified vegetation cover maps was produced for Netley-Libau Marsh, a 26,000 ha coastal wetland on Lake Winnipeg, to assess its current status and verify earlier trends of emergent vegetation loss. Open water area in the marsh was measured from late-summer Landsat images for 20 years; three classes of vegetation types (emergents, wet meadows, upland) could also be identified for 12 images covering the same period. Temporal changes in area and distribution of marsh vegetation were related to adjoining Lake Winnipeg water-level and Red River discharge, as well as marsh connectivity and bathymetry. From 1990 to 2002, an increase in open-water areas and decrease in emergent vegetation coincided with rising levels and flows. The year 2003 marked major wetland regeneration and a decrease of open-water area under extremely low water-levels and flows. From 2005 to 2013, open-water area remained consistent, under high but variable levels and flows. A strong negative correlation was found between area of emergent vegetation and mean Red River discharge in the previous June-July. Superimposition of the limit of new emergent vegetation observed in 2003 with depth contours surveyed in 2010 revealed the dynamic nature of marsh bathymetry. Periods of extremely low water as short as one year (2003) induced a marked expansion in emergent vegetation cover that persisted over the next ten years despite higher water-levels. Rather than being gradual, changes in the spatial extent of Netley-Libau Marsh vegetation appeared to proceed by fits and starts, wherein periods of relative stasis were disrupted by major changes in abundance.  相似文献

Diluted solutions of linear polystyrene (PS) in toluene and dioxane were studied by the light-scattering method. The solutes were mixtures of high-M?w and low M?w PS. The dissolved PS mixtures were regarded as polymer solutions containing microgels, the high-M?w PS being looked upon as the microgel counterpart. The calculation method as proposed by Strazielle1 and Burchard2 was used to evaluate the microgel percentage and particle size, whereby the method could be verified against mixtures with well-known weight composition and \documentclass{article}\pagestyle{empty}\begin{document}$ \overline {\left( {r_g ^2 } \right)} ^{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} 2}} $\end{document}. Acyclovir (ACV) belongs to a class of drugs with low bioavailability. Selected ACV esters including acetyl (Ac-), isobutyryl (iBut-), pivaloyl (Piv-), ethoxycarbonyl (Etc-) and nicotinoyl (Nic-) were synthesized, and their lipophilicity was determined by the high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) RP method. Statistical analyses of the comparative values of log?P and clog?P were carried out using computational methods. It was proved that the AC log?P algorithm can be useful for the analysis of these compounds and has a statistically justified application in the assessment of the quantitative structure–activity relationship. Factors affecting usefulness of triticale grain for bioethanol production   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
BACKGROUND: Triticale grain could be a useful material for bioethanol production. The aim of this study was to examine how grain cultivar, nitrogen fertilisation level, location and year affect the starch content in triticale grain and which method of starch determination, polarimetric, enzymatic or near‐infrared transmission (NIT), gives the best prediction of real bioethanol productivity from triticale grain. RESULTS: It was found that the starch content in triticale grain was correlated positively with test weight and 1000‐kernel weight but negatively with falling number and protein content. All factors, i.e. cultivar, nitrogen fertilisation level, location and year, as well as the intrinsic interaction between these factors, had a significant effect on the starch level in triticale grain. The NIT procedure of starch determination gave the best results in predicting the real yield of ethanol obtained on the basis of classic fermentation (95% match), while the enzymatic and polarimetric methods corresponded with the real results at levels of 89–90 and 78–82% respectively. CONCLUSION: Grain growth conditions related to location and nitrogen fertilisation level had the most noticeable effect on grain starch content, while grain yield per hectare had the most significant effect on ethanol productivity. The formation of radicals from the gas-phase pyrolysis of hydroquinone, catechol, and phenol over a temperature range of 400-750 degrees C was studied using the technique of low-temperature matrix isolation electron paramagnetic resonance (LTMI EPR). Cooling the reactor effluent from pyrolysis in a nitrogen carrier gas to 77 K produces a cryogenic matrix that exhibits poorly resolved EPR spectra. However, using carbon dioxide as a carrier gas formed a matrix that, upon annealing by slowly raising the matrix temperature followed by rapid recooling to 77 K, yielded more resolved, identifiable spectra. Annealed spectra of all three samples resulted in the generation of EPR spectra above 700 degrees C with 6 lines, hyperfine splitting constant approximately 6.0 G, and peak to peak width approximately 3 G that was readily assignable, based on comparison to the literature and theoretical calculations, as that of cyclopentadienyl radical. Pyrolysis at temperatures below 700 degrees C generated a carbon dioxide matrix isolation spectrum with a high g-value (>2.0040) that is attributed to oxygen-containing radicals such as semiquinone or phenoxyl. Conclusive identification of anticipated semiquinone, phenoxyl, and hydroxycyclopentadienyl radicals was complicated by the ability of these radicals to exist in carbon-centered and oxygen-centered resonance structures that can give different EPR spectra.  相似文献

The development of scaffolds mimicking the extracellular matrix containing bioactive substances has great potential in tissue engineering and wound healing applications. This study investigates melatonin—a methoxyindole present in almost all biological systems. Melatonin is a bioregulator in terms of its potential clinical importance for future therapies of cutaneous diseases. Mammalian skin is not only a prominent melatonin target, but also produces and rapidly metabolizes the multifunctional methoxyindole to biologically active metabolites. In our methodology, chitosan/collagen (CTS/Coll)-contained biomaterials are blended with melatonin at different doses to fabricate biomimetic hybrid scaffolds. We use rat tail tendon- and Salmo salar fish skin-derived collagens to assess biophysical and cellular properties by (i) Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy—attenuated total reflectance (FTIR–ATR), (ii) thermogravimetric analysis (TG), (iii) scanning electron microscope (SEM), and (iv) proliferation ratio of cutaneous cells in vitro. Our results indicate that melatonin itself does not negatively affect biophysical properties of melatonin-immobilized hybrid scaffolds, but it induces a pronounced elevation of cell viability within human epidermal keratinocytes (NHEK), dermal fibroblasts (NHDF), and reference melanoma cells. These results demonstrate that this indoleamine accelerates re-epithelialization. This delivery is a promising technique for additional explorations in future dermatotherapy and protective skin medicine.  相似文献
