Fatty acid composition of habitual omnivore and vegetarian diets 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
High-fat diets are implicated in the onset of cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer, and obesity. Large intakes of saturated
and trans FA, together with low levels of PUFA, particularly long-chain (LC) omega-3 (n−3) PUFA, appear to have the greatest impact
on the development of CVD. A high n−6∶n−3 PUFA ratio is also considered a marker of elevated risk of CVD, though little accurate
data on dietary intake is available. A new Australian food composition database that reports FA in foods to two decimal places
was used to assess intakes of FA in four habitual dietary groups. Analysis using the database found correlations between the
dietary intakes of LC n−3 PUFA and the plasma phospholipid LC n−3 PUFA concentrations of omnivore and vegetarian subjects.
High meat-eaters (HME), who consumed large amounts of food generally, had significantly higher LC n−3 PUFA intakes (0.29 g/d)
than moderate meat-eaters (MME) (0.14 g/d), whose intakes in turn were significantly higher than those of ovolacto-vegetarians
or vegans (both 0.01 g/d). The saturated FA intake of MME subjects (typical of adult male Australians) was not different from
ovolacto-vegetarian intakes, whereas n−6∶n−3 intake ratios in vegetarians were significantly higher than in omnivores. Thus,
accurate dietary and plasma FA analyses suggest that regular moderate consumption of meat and fish maintains a plasma FA profile

This study examined factors associated with the utilization of universally available school-based parent training. In a randomly selected, prospectively screened, unreferred community sample of 1,498 5– to 8–year–olds, 28% to 46% of families of children with high parent-reported externalizing problems enrolled. Externalizing problems, first-child status, and a high school education were associated with increased enrollment. Single–parent status, immigrant background, and limited extracurricular child activities were associated with lower enrollment. Economic disadvantage, stress, family dysfunction, and parental depressive symptoms were not associated with participation. In [1] we have shown how to construct a 3-layered recurrent neural network that computes the fixed point of the meaning function TP of a given propositional logic program P, which corresponds to the computation of the semantics of P. In this article we consider the first order case. We define a notion of approximation for interpretations and prove that there exists a 3-layered feed forward neural network that approximates the calculation of TP for a given first order acyclic logic program P with an injective level mapping arbitrarily well. Extending the feed forward network by recurrent connections we obtain a recurrent neural network whose iteration approximates the fixed point of TP. This result is proven by taking advantage of the fact that for acyclic logic programs the function TP is a contraction mapping on a complete metric space defined by the interpretations of the program. Mapping this space to the metric space R with Euclidean distance, a real valued function fP can be defined which corresponds to TP and is continuous as well as a contraction. Scope
LTP-syndrome is characterized by sensitization (IgE) to multiple non-specific lipid transfer proteins (nsLTPs) with a variable clinical outcome. The treatment is primarily based on offending food avoidance. However, the determination of Pru p 3-specific IgE is currently the main diagnostic tool to assess sensitization to nsLTPs. Herein, the study evaluates improvement of LTP-syndrome diagnosis and clinical management using a new IgE multiplex-immunoblot assay with a high diversity of food nsLTPs.Methods and results
An EUROLINE-LTP strip with 28 recombinant nsLTPs from 18 allergenic sources is designed. In total the study investigates 38 patients with LTP-syndrome and compares results from the nsLTPs (LTP-strip) with the respective food extracts of Prick-by-prick (PbP) testing. The agreement exceeds 70% for most nsLTPs, e.g., Pru p 3 (100%), Mal d 3 (97%), Pru av 3 (89%), Pha v 3 isoforms (87%/84%), Ara h 9 (82%), Cor a 8 (82%), and Jug r 3 (82%). The functionality and allergenic relevance of nine recombinant nsLTPs are proven by Basophil activation testing (BAT).Conclusions
The new IgE multiplex-immunoblot nsLTP assay shows a good diagnostic performance allowing culprit food assessment. Negative results from LTP-strip may indicate potentially tolerable foods, improving diet intervention and patients’ quality of life. 相似文献405.

In this study, a 96-well exposure system for safety assessment of nanomaterials is developed and characterized using an air–liquid interface lung epithelial model. This system is designed for sequential nebulization. Distribution studies verify the reproducible distribution over all 96 wells, with lower insert-to-insert variability compared to non-sequential application. With a first set of chemicals (TritonX), drugs (Bortezomib), and nanomaterials (silver nanoparticles and (non-)fluorescent crystalline nanocellulose), sequential exposure studies are performed with human lung epithelial cells followed by quantification of the deposited mass and of cell viability. The developed exposure system offers for the first time the possibility of exposing an air–liquid interface model in a 96-well format, resulting in high-throughput rates, combined with the feature for sequential dosing. This exposure system allows the possibility of creating dose-response curves resulting in the generation of more reliable cell-based assay data for many types of applications, such as safety analysis. In addition to chemicals and drugs, nanomaterials with spherical shapes, but also morphologically more complex nanostructures can be exposed sequentially with high efficiency.
