This study examined the behavioral mechanisms that support transfer of food from adults to infants in tufted capuchins (Cebus apella). Two captive groups of capuchins were presented with abundant quantities of unshelled pecans or commercial pellets. Five of 11 infant subjects could not open the nuts. A variety of tolerated interactions were initiated by infants toward adults, and food was frequently transferred. All such interactions were more frequent with nuts (a preferred food) than with pellets. Adult capuchins were equally tolerant of infant capuchins that could open nuts and those that could not. Tolerated interactions during feeding could result in acquisition of dietary information by young capuchins or to important, if intermittent, nutritional support.  相似文献

The possibility of near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy to measure the amount of bacterial contamination in shredded cabbage was investigated. NIR measurements in the short wavelength region from 700 to 1100 nm were done using two types of saline solutions: one was used to stomach with the samples as the conventional method and the other was used to wash the outer surface of the sample to examine the possibility of a non‐destructive method. Partial least squares regression (PLS) was used to develop the equations for bacterial amount. Spectra from the stomacher solution and the washing solution produced similar results. Sufficiently accurate results could be obtained with the bias‐corrected standard error of prediction (SEPs) of 0.46 log CFU g?1 for the stomacher solution and 0.44 log CFU g?1 for the washing solution. NIR spectroscopy was clarified to be a rapid and non‐destructive method for prediction of bacterial contamination in shredded cabbage.  相似文献

Humanitarian demining is an application in which the use of tele-operated machines and mechanisms has been gaining acceptance recently. Actually, demining is just one among many other field applications that require a high degree of mobility, manipulation of loads, robustness and, above all, high efficiency in terms of energy consumption. This paper will present the development and analysis of Field Arm, a pantographic manipulator especially designed for field works, focusing on its kinematic, static and dynamic properties. The novel features of Field Arm will be presented and discussed with results of simulations and experiments.  相似文献

The poly(A) tail of a mammalian mRNA is generated by endonucleolytic cleavage and poly(A) addition. Previous studies conducted with nuclear extracts suggested an ATP requirement for the cleavage step. We have reexamined the cofactor requirement, initially with the SV40 late pre-mRNA, which requires for cleavage four protein factors, cleavage and polyadenylation specificity factor, cleavage stimulation factor, cleavage factor I, and cleavage factor II. Using highly purified preparations of these factors, which lacked detectable creatine phosphokinase and ATPase activities, creatine phosphate (CP) was, surprisingly, found to be sufficient to promote efficient cleavage. Although other phosphate compounds substituted poorly or not at all for CP, another phosphoguanidine, arginine phosphate, was fully functional. Notably, ATP was neither necessary nor sufficient, and could in fact inhibit the reaction. Treatment of the purified factors with hexokinase plus glucose (to deplete any contaminating ATP) was without effect, as was addition of EDTA. Using 32P-labeled CP, we found that neither hydrolysis of CP nor phosphate transfer from CP occurred during the cleavage reaction. CP also allowed cleavage of the adenovirus 2 L3 pre-mRNA. However, in this case, ATP both enhanced the reaction and influenced the precise site of cleavage, perhaps reflecting the requirement of poly(A) polymerase for cleavage of this RNA. These results indicate that ATP is not essential for 3' pre-mRNA cleavage and that CP or a related compound can function as a necessary cofactor.  相似文献

Cavitation flows induced around an axial-flow pump blade and inside a high pressure cage-type valve are simu-lated by a two-dimensional unsteady Navier-Stokes analysis with the simplest treatment of bubble dynamics.Thefluid is assumed as a continuum of homogeneous dispersed mixture of water and vapor nuclei.The analysis isaimed to capture transient stages with high amplitude pressure change during the birth and collapse of the bubbleespecially at the stage of cavitation inception.By the pump blade analysis,in which the field pressure is moderate,cavitation number of the inception and locations of developed cavitation are found to agree with experimental re-suits in a wide flow range between high incidence and negative incidence.In the valve flow analysis,in which thewater pressure of 5MPa is reduced to 2MPa,pressure change responding to the bubble collapse between the vaporpressure lower than 1 KPa and the extreme pressure of higher than 10~4 KPa is captured through a stable computa-tion.Location of the inception bubble and pressure force to the valve plug is found agree well with the respectiveexperimental features.  相似文献

We have proposed an illumination-collection-type scanning near-field Raman spectroscopy (SNRS) with a completely gold metal-inside-coated (MIC) pyramidal probe without an optical aperture in order to detect the Raman spectra of fine Si devices for local stress measurements. The gold MIC pyramidal probe has been studied to act as a plasmon resonance near-field optical probe with high power using a finite differential time domain (FDTD) simulation and the prototyped SNRS. In the simulation, the propagated optical power can be made available for SNRS. In the experiments, it is clear that the prototyped SNRS enhanced the Si Raman peak signal by plasmon resonance and could measure the Si Raman peak shift by line scanning the Si gate region and the Si active layer. Furthermore, compressive and tensile stresses localized around the Si gate were demonstrated by the Si Raman peak shift with a resolution of about 10 nm. It is clarified that the proposed SNRS has the possibility of detecting the Raman spectra of a local area.  相似文献

High-energy proton irradiation (380 keV and 1 MeV) on the electrical properties of CuInSe2 (CIS) thin films has been investigated. The samples were epitaxially grown on GaAs (0 0 1) substrates by Radio Frequency sputtering. As the proton fluence exceeded 1×1013 cm−2, the carrier concentration and mobility of the CIS thin films were decreased. The carrier removal rate with proton fluence was estimated to be about 1000 cm−1. The electrical properties of CIS thin films before and after irradiation were studied between 80 and 300 K. From the temperature dependence of the carrier concentration in CIS thin films, we found ND=9.5×1016 cm−3, NA=3.7×1016 cm−3 and ED=21 meV from the fitting to the experimental data on the basis of the charge balance equation. After irradiation, a defect level was created, and NT=1×1017 cm−3 for a fluence of 3×1013 cm−2, NT=5.7×1017 cm−3 for a fluence of 1×1014 cm−2 and ET=95 meV were also obtained from the same fitting. The new defect, which acted as an electron trap, was due to proton irradiation, and the defect density was increased with proton fluence.  相似文献

A technique is presented for realistic rendering in polygon-based computer-generated holograms (CGHs). In this technique, the spatial spectrum of the reflected light is modified to imitate specular reflection. The spectral envelopes of the reflected light are fitted to a spectral shape based on the Phong reflection model used in computer graphics. The technique features fast computation of the field of objects, composed of many specular polygons, and is applicable to creating high-definition CGHs with several billions of pixels. An actual high-definition CGH is created using the proposed technique and is demonstrated for verification of the optical reconstruction of specular surfaces.  相似文献
