Long-period fibre grating (LPFG) writing by a CO2 laser-annealing using a fibre-drawing process is demonstrated. The fibre in the drawing process was irradiated periodically by a CO2 laser to modify the refractive index. An LPFG with transmission loss of -10 dB and full width at half-maximum of 13 nm has been fabricated. A full-rate multiplexer (MUX) with a multiphase clock architecture for over 40 Gbit/s optical communication systems is presented. The 4:1 MUX is comprised of a re-timer based on a D-type flip-flop (DFF) and a clock tree system that uses EXOR-type delay buffers to match its skews well to those of the data. The supply voltage is reduced to -1.5 V by analyzing the voltage allocation. Fabricated in a 0.13-mum InP HEMT technology, a DFF test circuit achieved 75-Gbit/s operation and exhibited performance sufficient to re-time 50-Gbit/s serialized data. The 4:1 MUX measurement results demonstrate successful 50-Gbit/s operation at room temperature, and 40-Gbit/s operation, which has 10-11 error free for 231 - 1 pseudorandom bit stream (PRBS) data, up to an ambient temperature of 90 degrees or down to - 1.24 V of supply voltage. The circuit consumes 450 mW at a - 1.5-V supply and exhibits an output jitter of 283 fs rms at 50-Gbit/s operation. We propose a walled linearly tapered slot antenna (LTSA) array to visualize plastic landmines. Previously, we reported an adaptive nonlinear visualization system based on a complex-valued self-organizing map (CSOM) that deals with complex amplitude texture in reflection images at multiple frequencies. The system distinguishes landmines from clutter by paying attention to textural features obtained by high spatial resolution and wideband reflection measurement. Because the system employed a mechanical scan of a pair of horn antennas, the measurement required a long time. An array antenna can reduce the time. The antenna element to be used there should therefore be compact and wideband. This paper reports the design and fabrication of a walled LTSA array visualization system. The antenna element has a 14 times 28 mm aperture size, and works at the 8-12 GHz frequency band. Because the structure is a simple combination of glass epoxy substrates and metal plates, we can easily fabricate low-cost and lightweight arrays. Electrical switches realize a high-speed scanning of 12 times 12 = 144 elements in total. We also report the results of a visualization experiment, in which plastic landmines are clearly visualized with the array in combination with the adaptive CSOM processing. Detection of landmines at frequencies of 10 GHz is only likely to be possible for targets buried a few centimeter deep or where the soil attenuation is very low. This might be a severe limitation of applicability of the method, as in field conditions soil attenuations of 10 dB or considerably more are commonly encountered, requiring the radar to operate at frequencies below 2-3 GHz. The best solution may be a multisensor system comprising these complementary high- and low-frequency radars.  相似文献

In this work, a new approach in the framework of the local partition of unity finite element method (XFEM) to significantly improve the accuracy of natural frequency in free vibration analysis of cracked Reissner–Mindlin plates is presented. Different from previous approaches, the present formulation is expected to be more accurate and effective in modeling cracked plates by integrating the stabilized discrete shear gap (DSG) into the XFEM setting. Intensive numerical results at low frequency demonstrated that the novel DSG-based XFEM approach possesses the following desirable properties: (1) the awkwardness of transverse shear-locking phenomenon can be overcome easily; (2) the DSG-based XFEM can be applicable to both moderately thick and thin plates straightforwardly; (3) the representation of cracks is independent of finite element mesh; (4) mesh distortion is insensitive and controllable; (5) the accuracy of natural frequency obtained by the present method is high and (6) the present method uses three-node triangular elements that can be much easily generated automatically for problems even with complicated geometry. These properties of the DSG-based XFEM are confirmed through several numerical examples of cracked plates with different boundary conditions.  相似文献

This study aimed at investigating the differences in brain–computer interface (BCI) task performance between 2D and 3D displays depending on their individual susceptibility to stereoscopic 3D. Eleven female and 10 male participants attempted a steady-state visually evoked potential BCI navigation task in a virtual home environment with and without 3D views. Participants were categorized into fatigued and unfatigued groups, depending on their individual susceptibility to 3D, which was characterized using a subjective evaluation method for 3D visual fatigue. The task completion time for the fatigued group under the 3D conditions was significantly delayed relative to the 2D mode. In contrast, a significantly decreased completion time was observed in the 3D view relative to the 2D view for the unfatigued group. The averaged positive predictive value significantly increased in the 3D mode relative to the 2D one for the unfatigued group only. These results are expected to provide a practical implication for enhancing BCI task performance in light of individual vulnerability to 3D.  相似文献

Microwave processing, as a new method for sintering ceramics, has key advantages such as increased heating rate, uniform heating and reduced cost compared to conventional methods. It is generally accepted that microwave sintering can improve the macroscopic mechanical performances of ceramics, however, the performances of microwave-sintered ceramics on the microscopic scale are rarely investigated. In the present study, the ceramics are sintered by hybrid microwave sintering (HMS), which combines the characteristics of microwave heating and conventional heating. To evaluate the homogeneous performance of the sintered ceramics, the behaviors of thermal residual stress distribution in the microwave-sintered and conventionally sintered ceramics were investigated by X-ray diffraction technique. The thermal residual stress investigation shows microwaves can sinter ceramics in entire volume while offering improved mechanical properties. Subsequently, the distribution behaviors of pore ratio and hardness in the ceramics were investigated, respectively. The experiment results confirm that the sinterability of ceramics is homogenously improved by hybrid microwave sintering.  相似文献

The T value represents the HOMO-LUMO energy separation of a ε-electronic system weighted with the number of conjugated atoms. We found that this value is kept almost constant for the polyene references defined graph-theoretically for isolated-pentagon isomers of fullerenes with up to 100 carbon atoms. on this numerical basis, the T value can safely be considered as a realistic index of kinetic stability or chemical inertness for all fullerenes without abutting pentagons.  相似文献

Ge/Si heterojunctions formed by wet wafer bonding were observed using transmission electron microscopy and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy. For the samples annealed at 880°C, there was a transition layer at the heterointerface with modified regions in the Si and Ge extending 20 nm to 30 nm from the interface. In these modified regions, crystal defects were observed, and a large amount of Ge was detected on the Si side of the junction. For the samples annealed at 250°C or 350°C, the transition layers had an amorphous-like structure with a thickness of about 10 nm. No modified layer or enlargement of lattice spacing was observed.  相似文献

This paper describes the Alternate Lighting of Surfaces (ALIS) method as a promising drive technology which can lead to high‐resolution plasma‐display panels (PDPs). This technology provides a resolution of more than 1000 scanning lines without lowering luminance, thus enabling the essential requirements of HDTV. Moreover, it allows the number of scanning electrodes to be halved in comparison with the conventional method, as well as the circuit scale to be minimized due to the use of the single scanning drive. The ALIS method is expected to be a key technology that will help PDPs penetrate the TV market.  相似文献
