This study examined appraisal of self and others, as measured by semantic differential ratings of Police, State, Society, Family, Friend, Myself as a Man/Woman, and Myself as a Political Person, in 55 tortured political activists in Turkey, 55 nontortured political activists, and 55 nontortured, politically noninvolved controls. There were no remarkable differences between tortured and nontortured political activists; both groups differed from controls in having a more negative appraisal of the police and the state and stronger perceptions of danger, mistrust, and injustice in relation to state authority. Lack of beliefs concerning a "benevolent state" may have protected the survivors from the traumatic effects of state-perpetrated torture. Operational transconductance amplifiers (OTAs) are widely used in the design of electronically tunable circuits. However, electronic tunability ranges of the OTA based filters are restricted by the limited bandwidth of the transconductance gain of the OTA. Furthermore, stability conditions and the linearity of the OTA which depends on the control current restrict the tunability. In this paper, some trade-offs in the electronically tunable filters are investigated. In addition, the tunability ranges of some first and second order OTA-C and OTA-RC filters are comparatively examined. Moreover, an OTA-C all-pass filter circuit is presented. SPICE simulations are performed and stability analyses are given for both of the OTA-C and OTA-RC filters. Operation of the presented all-pass filter is verified experimentally.  相似文献

Single fiber action potentials (SFAPs) from peripheral nerves, such as recorded with cuff electrodes, can be modelled as the convolution of a source current and a weight function that describes the recording electrodes and the surrounding medium. It is shown that for cuff electrodes, the weight function is linearly scaled with the action potential (AP) velocity and that it is, therefore, possible to implement a model of the recorded SFAPs based on a wavelet multiresolution technique (filterbank), where the wavelet scale is proportional to the AP velocity. The model resulted in single fiber action potentials matching the results from other models with a goodness of fit exceeding 0.99. This formulation of the SFAP may serve as a basis for model-based wavelet analysis and for advanced cuff design.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Medicinal plants commonly used and traded in Turkey were monitored for their cadmium and selected micronutrient (copper, iron, manganese and zinc) content. RESULTS: Cadmium was not detected in any sample of licorice extract, linden flowers or nettle leaves. However, in the rest of the samples, cadmium was found in the range of 7–126 µg kg?1, with the highest concentration in chamomile leaf. Of all the monitored trace elements, the highest concentration found was 520 mg kg?1 iron in zahter. The highest copper, manganese and zinc concentrations were found in rose hips (24 mg kg?1), Turkish oregano (58 mg kg?1) and zahter (50 mg kg?1), respectively. CONCLUSION: The results of the present study reveal that cadmium and trace element concentrations in medicinal plants commonly used as traditional medicines in Turkey are well below the critical levels. The present investigation was to evaluate the antioxidant and antibacterial activities of hexane and methanol extracts from Origanum vulgare ssp. hirtum and Thymus vulgaris (Komotini, Greece). The methanol extracts of oregano and thyme against DPPH radical were more active than the hexane extracts (mean values 0.94 and 0.47, respectively) and oregano exhibited stronger activity than thyme (mean values 0.82 and 0.55, respectively). The results from the β-carotene/linoleic acid assay showed that all plant extracts inhibited linoleic acid oxidation up to 70.78±1.17%. The oregano extracts exhibited the strongest inhibition against Escherichia coli, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus using the disc diffusion assay. The chemical composition of the hexane and methanol extracts, by using GC-MS, showed that carvacrol, thymol, and p-cymene were the most prominent compounds. The methanol extract of oregano was found the most potent antioxidant with the highest content of total phenolics (138.92 mg GA/g extract) and carvacrol (76.7%).  相似文献

Al-xNi-yCeO2 (x = 6, 10, 15, 20 and y = 0, 5, 10 wt%) composites were produced by a powder metallurgical production route. Powder mixtures of Al, Ni and CeO2 were fabricated via mechanical alloying (MA) for 4 h in a Spex-type high-energy ball mill. Both the mechanically alloyed (MAed) and non-MAed (as-blended mixtures) powders were pre-compacted in a hydraulic press under 650 MPa and then pressurelessly consolidated at 630 °C for 2 h under an inert atmosphere. The effects of MA process and the amounts of Ni and CeO2 on the microstructural, mechanical and tribological properties of the sintered composites were determined. Based on the SEM and XRD investigations, the MAed powders illustrated a homogenous structure, comprising flaky particles with smaller crystallite sizes and greater lattice strain. According to the XRD analysis, Ni formed Al–Ni intermetallic compounds in the matrix of sintered composites that act as secondary reinforcement phases. The SEM observations conducted on the MAed samples demonstrated more uniformly and finely distributed Al3Ni and CeO2 phases in the microstructure of the MAed samples, unlike the non-MAed ones. The hardness values of sintered composites increased due to the MA process and increasing Ni and CeO2 amounts, and the hardness value of the MAed Al20Ni–10CeO2 sample reached 179 HV. The ultimate compressive strength and failure strain of the MAed Al6Ni–10CeO2 sample were 441 MPa and 11.3%. In the Al20Ni–10CeO2 sample, the compressive strength and failure strain were 391 MPa and 5.5%, respectively. Additionally, the reciprocating wear test results illustrated that both wear resistance and hardness values of the composites increased as the amounts of Ni and CeO2 increased, and the Al20Ni–10CeO2 sample exhibited the highest wear resistance as 0.175 × 10-3 mm3/Nm.  相似文献

This publication is focused on the structural origin of viscoelasticity in Langmuir monolayers. To improve the understanding of the structural origin of viscoelasticity of surfactant films, we systematically studied interfacial films of different sorbitan esters with saturated (Span 60 and 65) and unsaturated (Span 80 and 85) paraffin chains by means of surface rheology, Langmuir isotherms, X-ray reflectometry (XRR), and Brewster angle microscopy (BAM). The results of two-dimensional shear rheological measurements revealed the existence of temporarily cross-linked networks. In dynamic BAM experiments, we observed a swinging motion of the monolayers as a result of a sudden externally initiated mechanical perturbation. The viscoelastic film response, which relaxed with time as the external force vanished, could be traced back to the presence of foam-like supramolecular structures that interlinked solid-condensed domains. The temperature dependence of the elastic response implied that the solid domains decomposed at temperatures close to the bulk melting point of Span 60 and Span 65. We concluded that insoluble surfactants formed solid domains at the interface, which were linked with each other by nonsolid areas, giving viscoelastic films. These newly discovered insights into coherent film formations could provide new opportunities for designing mechanically stable surfactant interfaces.  相似文献

Chemical transmission lines, petroleum and natural gas lines, pressure vessels, and pipes used in thermal facilities are expected to maintain their mechanical properties for many years without being damaged and not to be corroded in working conditions. The composite materials are the right candidate for these harsh conditions due to their superior properties. Reinforcement of nanoadditives to composite materials improves both the mechanical properties and the resistance to environmental conditions, thereby increasing the lifetime. In this study, multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) reinforced [±?55°] carbon fiber/epoxy composite pipes produced with filament wound method were used. It was hydrothermally aged in 80 °C distilled water for 1, 2, 3 weeks in order to examine the effect of environmental conditions. In order to investigate its resistance against loads that may occur in working conditions, ring tensile tests (ASTM D 2290–16 procedure A), and low-velocity impact tests at 5, 10, 15 J, energy levels were carried out. The effect of hydrothermal aging on neat and MWCNT added epoxy composite had been examined by considering the aging period. Consequently, the impact resistance of neat and MWCNT added samples decreased with the aging process. Besides, tangential tensile strength loss was 17% in MWCNT reinforced sample and 13% in the neat sample.

Nowadays, doped graphenes are attracting much interest in the field of Li‐ion batteries since it shows higher specific capacity than widely used graphite. However, synthesis methods of doped graphenes have secondary processes that requires much energy. In this study, in situ synthesis of N‐doped graphene powders by using of cyclic voltammetric method from starting a graphite rod in nitric acid solution has been discussed for the first time in the literature. The N‐including functional groups such as nitro groups, pyrrolic N, and pyridinic N have been selectively prepared as changing scanned potential ranges in cyclic voltammetry. The electrochemical performance as anode material in Li‐ion batteries has also been covered within this study. N‐doped graphene powders have been characterized by electrochemical, spectroscopic, and microscopic methods. According to the X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Raman results, N‐doped graphene powders have approximately 16 to 18 graphene rings in their main structure. The electrochemical analysis of graphene powders synthesized at different potential ranges showed that the highest capacity was obtained 438 mAh/g after 10 cycles by using current density of 50 mA/g at N‐GP4. Furthermore, the sample having higher defect size shows better specific capacity. However, the more stable structure due to oxygen content and less defect size improves the rate capabilities, and thus, the results obtained at high current density indicated that the remaining capacity of N‐GP1 was higher than the others.  相似文献
