This study describes the preparation of new surface-modified nanodiamond (ND) particles containing urethane-based hybrid materials by photopolymerization of aliphatic urethane acrylate, trimethylolpropane triacrylate, glycidyl methacrylate monomers, and their usage for lead adsorption from aqueous media. ND and synthesized surface-modified ND were characterized by atom transfer radical addition Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and scanning transmission electron microscopy analysis. Crosslinked adsorbent nanocomposites were then treated with polyethylene imine and all adsorbent nanocomposites were characterized by ATR-FTIR, scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and contact angle measurements. The metal ion binding capacity of the surfaces of the nanocomposites containing high amine content was investigated. The effects of the percentage of functional monomer, pH, and contact time on adsorption, and the interaction of foreign metal ions have been tested. Optimum contact time was found to be 7 h at pH 5. The adsorption capacity of the synthesized nanocomposite adsorbent for lead (II) was determined as 17.12 mg g−1. Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms were used to determine the adsorption behaviors and Langmuir isotherm model was found to be the most suitable model (R2: 0.9988). The ability of living systems to self‐sort different cells into separate assemblies and the ability to independently regulate different structures are one ingredient that gives rise to their spatiotemporal complexity. Here, this self‐sorting behavior is replicated in a synthetic system with two types of colloidal particles; where each particle type independently self‐assembles either under blue or red light into distinct clusters, known as narcissistic self‐sorting. For this purpose, each particle type is functionalized either with the light‐switchable protein VVDHigh or Cph1, which homodimerize under blue and red light, respectively. The response to different wavelengths of light and the high specificity of the protein interactions allows for the independent self‐assembly of each particle type with blue or red light and narcissistic self‐sorting. Moreover, as both of the photoswitchable protein interactions are reversible in the dark; also, the self‐sorting is reversible and dynamic. Overall, the independent blue and red light controlled self‐sorting in a synthetic system opens new possibilities to assemble adaptable, smart, and advanced materials similar to the complexity observed in tissues.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose an LMI-based design method of a decentralised variable gain robust controller for large-scale interconnected systems with mismatched uncertainties. The mismatched uncertainties under consideration are composed of the matched part and the mismatched one, and the proposed decentralised robust controller consists of a state feedback with a fixed gain and one with a variable gain tuned by parameter adjustment laws. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the proposed decentralised variable gain robust controller are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, a numerical example is illustrated to validate the proposed design procedure.  相似文献

Graft-copolymerization of acrylamide (AAm) on poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) films using benzoyl peroxide (Bz2O2) initiator has been studied. Four organic solvents, namely, pyridine (Py), 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE), DEC/H2O (20/80, v/v), and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), were used as swelling agents. DMSO was found to be the most suitable swelling agent. Solvent inclusion in the films increased with increased length of solvent treatment time and temperature. Elevated temperatures had a greater effect on the inclusion of swelling agents than did the length of swelling. Variation of graft yield with the type of solvent, initiator concentration, monomer concentration, temperature, and polymerization time were also investigated. The graft yield increased in the order of toluene, benzene, DMSO. The optimum temperature for grafting was found to be 70°C. The graft yield was observed to increase with monomer concentration and polymerization time, then reached a plateau. The graft yield increased up to a certain Bz2O2 concentration, then decreased. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The separation of acetic acid–water mixtures was carried out using pervaporation (PV) and temperature difference evapomeation (TDEV) methods. For the separation process, 4‐vinyl pyridine was grafted on poly(vinyl alcohol). Membranes were prepared from the graft‐copolymer by casting method and crosslinked by heat treatment. The effects of feed composition on the separation characteristics were studied and the performances of the separation methods were compared. Permeation rates were found to be high in PV whereas separation factors were high in TDEV method. Membranes gave permeation rates of 0.1–3.0 kg/m2h and separation factors of 2.0–61.0 depending on the composition of the feed mixture and the method. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The relationship between the mean glandular dose (MGD) and the compressed breast thickness (CBT) is commonly used for the presentation of mammographic dose survey results and could also be useful for the assessment of individual breast doses retrospectively in case of lack of necessary dosimetric instrumentation. The high data scattering from the best fit reduces the reliability of this technique. The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of this relationship using the data collected from a patient survey and phantom experiment. Patients were divided into three different groups according to their breast glandularities, which were predicted from the inspection of previous mammograms. X-ray beam qualities that will be used in patient examinations were determined according to breast thickness and predicted glandularities. The MGD versus CBT relationship for all the examined patients resulted in a poor correlation (R(2) = 0.28). This relationship was separately obtained for each glandularity group and also for sub-groups of specific beam qualities. The best correlation (R(2) = 0.73) was obtained for the fatty breast group and Mo/Mo combination. A low correlation (R(2) = 0.34) was observed in the mid-glandularity group due to inclusion of a wide range of glandularities in this group. In the case of the dense breast group, although the glandularity range was narrow, there were e still high data scattering (R(2) = 0.25). This was probably due to the use of Mo/Rh and Mo/Mo combinations. This is validated by obtaining the MGD-CBT relationship specific to Mo/Mo combination (R(2) = 0.61).  相似文献

In this study, heavy metal leaching from aerobic and anaerobic landfill bioreactor test cells for co-disposed municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) bottom ash and shredded low-organic residues has been investigated. Test cells were operated for 1 year. Heavy metals which were comparatively higher in leachate of aerobic cell were copper (Cu), lead (Pb), boron (B), zinc (Zn), manganese (Mn) and iron (Fe), and those apparently lower were aluminum (Al), arsenic (As), molybdenum (Mo), and vanadium (V). However, no significant release of heavy metals under aerobic conditions was observed compared to anaerobic and control cells. Furthermore, there was no meaningful correlation between oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) and heavy metal concentrations in the leachates although some researchers speculate that aeration may result in excessive heavy metal leaching. No meaningful correlation between dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and leaching of Cu and Pb was another interesting observation. The only heavy metal that exceeded the state discharge limits (10mg/l, to be enforced after April 2005) in the aerobic cell leachate samples was boron and there was no correlation between boron leaching and ORP. Higher B levels in aerobic cell should be due to comparatively lower pH values in this cell. However, it is anticipated that this slightly increased concentrations of B (maximum 25mg/l) will not create a risk for bioreactor operation; rather it should be beneficial for long-term stability of the landfill through faster washout. It was concluded that aerobization of landfills of heavy metal rich MSWI bottom ash and shredded residues is possible with no dramatic increase in heavy metals in the leachate.  相似文献

In a previous study, statistical method using two distributions was applied to analyze detergency of oily soil. The method uses statistical distributions of detergent power and adhesive force of soil. In this paper, this method was applied to an analysis of detergency of solid particles. Soiled cotton cloth was prepared with red iron oxide dispersion liquid in Terg-O-Tometer. Four-time consecutive washings tests were conducted with dodecyl sulfuric acid sodium salt (SDS) and alcohol ethoxylate (AE) aqueous solutions in Terg-O-Tometer. Change of removal efficiencies due to repetitive washing was utilized to seek the two distributions. Predicted removal efficiencies calculated from computer simulation corresponded to experimental values. Different adhered states of soil, prepared by varying soiling conditions, were expressed as Removal Resistance. As soiling mechanical power increased, Removal Resistance shifted toward higher adhesive force of soil and an amount of soil had also increased. Iron oxide concentration only had an affect on an amount of soil. The results showed that the method using two statistical distributions can be applied to the detergency of solid particle.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate (augmented) Dickey–Fuller (DF) and Lagrange multiplier (LM) type unit root tests for autoregressive time series through comprehensive Monte Carlo simulations. We consider two sorts of null and alternative hypotheses: a unit root without drift versus level stationarity and a unit root with drift versus trend stationarity. The DF-type coef ficient tests are found to show the best overall performance in both cases, at least if the sample size is sufficiently large. How ever, it is also found that the DF and LM tests are roughly complementary with regard to their finite-sample power. We therefore consider combining these two types of unit root tests to obtain ( ad hoc 'but') 'robust' test procedures. Critical values for the proposed tests are provided  相似文献

In this paper, the seismic behavior of wind turbines sitting on a finite flexible soil layer is investigated in three‐dimensional space. A numerical algorithm formulated in frequency domain is proposed in order to simulate the dynamic soil–structure interaction (SSI). The wind turbine is discretized using finite element method (FEM) while, the underlying soil is represented by complex dynamic stiffness functions based on cone models. A parametric study consisting of 24 ground motions and three soil profiles is carried out, and different response quantities of the wind tower model are calculated and presented in the paper. The free‐field ground motions are estimated based on an equivalent linear approach using SHAKE2000 computer software. Transfer functions for total acceleration of the wind tower are obtained under the considered soil profiles and the modal frequencies of the coupled wind turbine–soil foundation are estimated. It is shown that the response quantities such as displacement, rotation, acceleration, base shear and moment are significantly affected by SSI, although the effect of SSI on the fundamental frequencies of the wind tower is insignificant. The moment and shear force distribution along the height of the tower is highly influenced as the soil stiffness decreases. The change in seismic demand distribution along the tower height because of SSI is not addressed by simplified design approached and should be carefully considered in seismic design of wind towers.
