An experimental study of an alkaline fuel cell test plant with a 0.5 kW fuel cell module is presented in this paper. The characteristics of the fuel cell module are measured in different steady state load conditions and with different electrolyte temperatures. In the production of paper, pulp fibers are put through a refining stage. This greatly enhances the fiber characteristics and the resulting quality and properties of the paper that is being produced.

This paper outlines the various detailed processes which occur during the refining stage and what the resulting effects are on paper quality. It discusses the measurements of 'freeness' and 'drainage rate', which are used today as the primary means of measuring the'refining effect', and provides a brief evaluation of the effectiveness and limitations of these techniques.

With the Scanning Laser Microscope, one can now observe the 'refining effect' on a microscopic basis by analyzing the structure of individual fibers. In particular one can measure the changes in the mean fiber diameter and the amount of fines that are produced. These changes are measured on a statistically significant basis in real time and provide valuable information for control of the refining process itself.

This paper reports actual test results and provides a preliminary analysis of the significance of these results and how the findings could best be implemented in an actual control strategy for operating a refiner.  相似文献

A nationwide outbreak of Salmonella enterica serotypes Newport and Reading occurred between 17 October and 28 November 2008 in Finland. A total of 77 culture-confirmed Salmonella Newport and 30 Salmonella Reading cases, including one case with a double infection, were reported. All strains isolated from the patients were subtyped using serotyping, microbial resistance profiling, and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE). Here, the PFGE patterns of the studied Salmonella Newport strains were identical, whereas four different PFGE profiles were found among the Salmonella Reading strains. Two elderly patients died within 2 weeks of the onset of symptoms. Three geographical clusters of cases with an epidemiological link were identified. The traceback investigation suggested that the factor connecting the cases was ready-chopped iceberg lettuce available for mass catering use. However, none of the tested food, environmental samples, or the samples taken from the staff of the processing plant contained Salmonella bacteria. Tracing back to outbreak sources with a short shelf life can be complex.  相似文献

Smooth, 4–6-nm thick hafnium oxide films were grown by atomic layer deposition from HfI4 or HfCl4 and H2O on SiO2/Si(1 0 0) substrates at 300 °C. Non-uniform films were obtained on hydrogen-terminated Si(1 0 0). The stoichiometry of the films corresponded to that of HfO2. The films contained small amounts of residual chlorine and iodine. The films deposited on SiO2/Si(1 0 0) were amorphous, but crystallized upon annealing at 1000 °C. In order to decrease the conductivity, the HfO2 films were mixed with Al2O3, and to increase the capacitance, the films were mixed with Nb2O5. The capacitance–voltage curves of the Hf–Al–O mixture films showed hysteresis. The capacitance–voltage curves of HfO2 films and mixtures of Hf–Al–Nb–O were hysteresis free.  相似文献

This paper describes a heterogeneous oligonucleotide-hybridization assay based on hot electron-induced electrochemiluminescence (HECL) of a rhodamine label. Thin oxide-film coated aluminum and silicon electrodes were modified with an aminosilane layer and derivatized with short, 15-mer oligonucleotides via diisothiocyanate coupling. Target oligonucleotides were conjugated with tetramethylrhodamine (TAMRA) dye at their amino modified 5′ end and hybridization was detected using HECL of TAMRA. Preliminary results indicate sensitivity down to picomolar level and low nonspecific adsorption. The sensitivity was better on oxide-coated silicon compared to oxide-coated aluminum electrodes and two-base pair mismatched hybrids were successfully discriminated. The experimental results presented here might be useful for the design of disposable electrochemiluminescent DNA biosensors.  相似文献

A permanent open shunt as a cause of impotence or impaired potency after a shunt operation for priapism is an unusual situation. In this series we studied the persistence of an open shunt in 26 patients who had developed impotence or impaired potency after operative treatment for priapism. All patients had been examined by cavernosography on the suspicion of an open shunt, giving a positive finding in five of 26 cases, in all of which impotence was cured by closure of the shunt. In five patients without a permanent open shunt potency returned to normal only after 6-12 months.  相似文献

ZrO2 films of thicknesses varied in the range of 3–30 nm were atomic layer deposited from ZrI4 and H2O–H2O2 on p-Si(100) substrates. The effects of film thickness and deposition temperature on the structure and dielectric properties of ZrO2 were investigated. At 272 and 325 °C, the growth of ZrO2 started with the formation of the cubic polymorph and continued with the formation of the tetragonal polymorph. The ratio between the lattice parameters increased with the film thickness and growth temperature. The effective permittivity, determined from the accumulation capacitance of Hg/ZrO2/Si capacitors, increased with the film thickness, reaching 15–17 in 25-nm-thick films. The permittivity decreased with the increasing growth temperature. The hysteresis of the capacitance–voltage curves was the narrowest for the films deposited at 325 °C, and increased towards both lower and higher deposition temperatures.  相似文献

The distribution of neuropeptides exhibits pronounced interspecies heterogeneity. Neuropeptides may function as hormones secreted from chromaffin cells or as neurotransmitters/neuromodulators released from nerve terminals. However, other possible functions such as trophic or intracellular effects should also be considered. Thus, to understand the role of neuropeptides, it is important to explore their localization in different species. The distribution of enkephalins, neurotensin, neuropeptide Y, calcitonin gene-related peptide, and galanin in the adrenal medulla of rat, cat, hamster, and mouse is presented in detail.  相似文献

We present a laser-based system to measure the refractive index of air over a long path length. In optical distance measurements, it is essential to know the refractive index of air with high accuracy. Commonly, the refractive index of air is calculated from the properties of the ambient air using either Ciddor or Edlén equations, where the dominant uncertainty component is in most cases the air temperature. The method developed in this work utilizes direct absorption spectroscopy of oxygen to measure the average temperature of air and of water vapor to measure relative humidity. The method allows measurement of temperature and humidity over the same beam path as in optical distance measurement, providing spatially well-matching data. Indoor and outdoor measurements demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. In particular, we demonstrate an effective compensation of the refractive index of air in an interferometric length measurement at a time-variant and spatially nonhomogeneous temperature over a long time period. Further, we were able to demonstrate 7 mK RMS noise over a 67 m path length using a 120 s sample time. To our knowledge, this is the best temperature precision reported for a spectroscopic temperature measurement.  相似文献
