Solar radiation is a key factor determining electricity produced by photovoltaic (PV) systems. This paper presents a solar radiation database of Europe developed in the geographical information system, and three interactive web applications providing an access to it. The database includes monthly and yearly average values of the global irradiation on horizontal and inclined surfaces, as well as climatic parameters needed for an assessment of the potential PV electricity generation (Linke atmospheric turbidity, the ratio of diffuse to global irradiation, an optimum inclination angle of modules to maximize energy yield). In the first web application, a user may browse radiation maps and query irradiation incident on a PV module for different inclination angles. The second application simulates daily profiles of irradiance for a chosen month and module inclination and orientation. The third web application estimates electricity generation for a chosen PV configuration. It also calculates optimal inclination and orientation of a PV module for a given location. Three configurations have been developed to improve the understanding of structural element interactions in food material during deformation. The three configurations combine an inverted confocal scanning laser microscope (CSLM) and a cell that can apply to the sample a specific deformation: continuous shear, linear oscillatory shear and biaxial extension (compression).In the continuous shear and oscillatory shear configurations (OSCs), a zero-velocity plane is created in the sample by moving two plates in opposite direction, maintaining stable observation conditions of the structural behaviour under deformation. The OSC allows simultaneous application of CSLM and diffusing wave spectroscopy, a multiple light scattering technique. The third configuration (compression configuration) allows observation at a stagnation point during rheometric measurements. Changes in volatile compounds were monitored in whiting (Merlangius merlangus), cod (Gadus morhua) and mackerel (Scomber scombrus) and related to spoilage. Data are presented from headspace/mass spectrometric (HS/MS) analysis and solid‐phase microextraction/gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric (SPME/GC/MS) analysis at two time points (day 0 and day 10) during storage at 4 °C. HS/MS revealed 24 ions that could be used as markers of spoilage. SPME/GC/MS identified 86 compounds, 20 of which could perhaps be used to characterize freshness: principally alcohols, ketones, aldehydes and C2–C11 esters. A Parks modified multinomial logit model is used to examine the influence of the agricultural economic environment on irrigation technology transitions in the mid-plains states. Simulation analyses assess expected agricultural water conservation and its implications for water quality/environmental goals and water institutional reform. Under baseline agri-economic assumptions, regional agricultural water use efficiency could improve from 2.3% to 9.8%. Technology-specific elasticities show that crop price effects on irrigation technology transitions are relatively inelastic. Results for the mid-plains states differ from those obtained for the Pacific north-west (an earlier study), implying that differentially endowed resource regions will likely require different resource conservation policy and institutional approaches. 相似文献

The multiple uses of the Danube River for navigation, hydropower production and as a drinking water supply influence its ecological quality. Flow restrictions due to regulation as well as impacts on the sediment regime such as retention in the catchment area and interruption of the sediment continuum result in changes of the hydromorphological structures and can produce major problems in the context of sediment management. In light of these facts, cross-border investigations of sediment transport at the Danube River are called for. As there are no uniform research approaches shared by Austria and Hungary, the EU-funded project SEDDON (Sediment Research and Management at the Danube River) aims to compare different monitoring and modeling techniques used to determine sediment transport, and to develop mutual solutions. Further, the laboratory equipment currently used for hydraulic model experiments is evaluated and a research channel with a free flowing discharge of up to 10 m3/s without pumping will be constructed, allowing large-scale joint laboratory tests concerning sediment to be performed. 相似文献

Social impacts and degrees of organization inherent to opinion formation for interacting agents on networks present interesting
questions of general interest from physics to sociology. We present a quantitative analysis of a case implying an evolving
small size network, i.e. that inherent to the ongoing debate between modern creationists (most are Intelligent Design (ID)
proponents (IDP) and Darwin’s theory of Evolution Defenders (DED)). This study is carried out by analyzing the structural
properties of the citation network unfolded in the recent decades by publishing works belonging to members of the two communities.
With the aim of capturing the dynamical aspects of the interaction between the IDP and DED groups, we focus on two key quantities,
namely, the degree of activity of each group and the corresponding degree of impact on the intellectual community at large.
A representative measure of the former is provided by the rate of production of publications (RPP), whilst the latter can
be assimilated to the rate of increase in citations (RIC). These quantities are determined, respectively, by the slope of
the time series obtained for the number of publications accumulated per year and by the slope of a similar time series obtained
for the corresponding citations. The results indicate that in this case, the dynamics can be seen as geared by triggered or
damped competition. The network is a specific example of marked heterogeneity in exchange of information activity in and between
the communities, particularly demonstrated through the nodes having a high connectivity degree, i.e. opinion leaders. 相似文献

Envy is the painful emotion caused by the good fortune of others. This research empirically supports the distinction between two qualitatively different types of envy, namely benign and malicious envy. It reveals that the experience of benign envy leads to a moving-up motivation aimed at improving one’s own position, whereas the experience of malicious envy leads to a pulling-down motivation aimed at damaging the position of the superior other. Study 1 used guided recall of the two envy types in a culture (the Netherlands) that has separate words for benign and malicious envy. Analyses of the experiential content of these emotions found the predicted differences. Study 2 and 3 used one sample from the United States and one from Spain, respectively, where a single word exists for both envy types. A latent class analysis based on the experiential content of envy confirmed the existence of separate experiences of benign and malicious envy in both these cultures as well. Water sorption and dynamical properties of bread crust were studied using gravimetric sorption experiments. Water uptake and loss were measured while relative humidity (RH) was step-wise in- or decreased. Experimental results were compared with Fickian diffusion models and empirical models like the exponential and power-law model. From comparison of experimental sorption curves and the power-law model for short times it followed for all bread crust that the diffusional coefficient n is close to one. It turned out that this is not due to so-called case II diffusion and water transport that is limited by relaxation of the solid material but due to the fact that RH did not instantaneously but gradually increased to the set value.Sorption curves of isotherm experiments could be best described by the Fickian diffusion model for low RH and by the exponential model for large RH. Transport rates depend on moisture content and show a maximum around RH = 0.7, corresponding to a water mass fraction ω1 = 0.12. Diffusion rates could be well described by free volume theory up to the maximum, but this theory could not explain the strong decrease at higher ω1. Indications for a local glass-rubber transition at room temperature were found near a water mass fraction ω1 ≈ 0.09. This corresponds very well to the start of the crisp–non-crisp transition as measured by a sensory panel, but not to the glass-rubber transition at ω1 ≈ 0.12 as measured by other techniques like Differential Scanning Calorimetry. So it seems that more than one glass-rubber like transitions may be important to describe the properties of heterogeneous cellular food systems. 相似文献
