The spectral characteristics of an integrated acousto-optic tunable filter (AOTF) as well as its responsivity to the rf driving signal and sensitivity to temperature changes are experimentally investigated and quantified using a diode-laser-based interrogation system. A spectroscopic technique, exploiting the rf frequency modulation of the laser beam and the phase-sensitive detection of the AOTF transmission, has been used for this purpose. That allows for the generation of a dispersivelike signal, which serves as a reference for tracking any wavelength change of the filter's peak with high resolution. The possibility of using the integrated AOTF as a spectrum analyzer with this interrogation scheme for fiber Bragg grating (FBG) strain sensing is also discussed.  相似文献

In this paper the technical feasibility of various adsorbents for mercury removal from contaminated waters has been studied. Adsorption isotherms of mercury ions in aqueous solution have been experimentally measured on a granular activated carbon (Aquacarb 207EA), a char, a pozzolana and a yellow tuff. The experimental evidences show that the mercury capture capacity of yellow tuff and char is of few tenths of milligrams per gram of sorbent while for the pozzolana and the activated carbon this value is of the order of 1mg/g of sorbent. Moreover, for a mercury concentration as high as 3000 microg/l the pozzolana shows the highest adsorption capacity. This result seems to be quite interesting, especially in consideration of the extremely low cost of this natural sorbent.  相似文献

The addition of enological tannins is a practice admitted and widely used to improve wine phenolic compositions. Although wine ageing is an oxidative process involving phenolic compounds and acetaldehyde production and consumption, the effect of enological tannins on the acetaldehyde and chromatic and phenolic changes of a red wine during oxidation is still not known. In this study, three enological tannins preparations containing gallotannins GT, ellagitannins ET and condensed tannins CT were added to a young commercial Lambrusco red wine in order to obtain wines with three different phenolic compositions. Samples were then treated with hydrogen peroxide to trigger oxidation. All added tannins have determined a production of acetaldehyde greater than control. Acetaldehyde was then consumed in 30 days. The samples treated with CT and ET showed, after oxidation, an increase in colour intensity, determined as the sum of 420, 520 and 620 nm absorbances. A simultaneously increase in polymeric pigments was detected. No significant variation of the Saliva Precipitation Index (SPI), an index useful to give an indirect measure of wine astringency, was observed after 30 days of treatment of CT and ET samples. Results highlight that the addition of CT and ET can help to stabilise colour without affecting wine reactivity towards salivary proteins. A significant role of acetaldehyde has been even detected. These are the first data showing the effect of different enological tannins on the production and consumption of acetaldehyde formation during an oxidation process.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to determine Salmonella occurrence in slaughtered finishing pigs and piglets and in slaughterhouse environment in order to characterize the isolates with phenotypical (antimicrobial testing) and molecular (PFGE, MLVA) methods. Nine slaughterhouses located in Sardinia were visited. Six hundred and eight samples collected from 106 pigs and 108 environmental samples were collected and analyzed. Salmonella was isolated in 65 of 504 (12.9%) samples from finishing pigs, with an occurrence of 15.1% in colon content, 12.7% in lymph nodes and liver, and 11.1% in carcass surface samples. Salmonella was never detected in piglets. The combined results of serotyping and PFGE showed a possible self‐contamination in 71.5% of Salmonella positive carcasses of lymph nodes and/or colon content carriers, pointing out the role of healthy pigs for carcass contamination. A significantly higher (P < 0.05) occurrence was detected in finishing pigs of EC countries origin (23%) than in pigs of local farms (8%). Salmonella was also detected in 3.7% of environmental samples. The most prevalent serovar was S. Anatum, followed by S. Rissen, S. Derby, and monophasic S. Typhimurium. Resistance to at least 3 antimicrobial was observed in 97.1% of strains and 7 different patterns of multiple resistance were identified. The most common resistance was detected against sulphonamide compounds. A strict slaughterhouse application of hygiene standards is essential to control the risk of Salmonella contamination.  相似文献

The effects of thermal storage on GaN–HEMT devices grown on SiC substrate have been investigated by DC and pulsed electrical measurements, breakdown measurements (by means of a Transmission Line Pulser, TLP), and optical and electron microscopy. After 3000 h of thermal storage testing at 300 °C, only a limited reduction of the DC drain saturation current and of the transconductance peak was observed (20% and 25% decrease, respectively). However, pulsed measurements on aged devices clearly highlight a dramatic current collapse effect that has been attributed to a creation of surface traps in the gate-to-drain and gate-to-source access region. On-state breakdown characterization carried out on aged devices did not highlight any noticeable changes with respect to the untreated devices similarly to the DC characterization. Failure analyses have demonstrated that a loss of adhesion of the passivation layer was responsible for the observed trap formation. An improved passivation deposition process was therefore developed, including a surface cleaning procedure aimed at preventing passivation detaching. The devices fabricated using this new procedure do not show any enhancement of trapping effects up to 500 h of thermal stress at 300 °C.  相似文献

A controlled-release study conducted at Vandenberg Air Force Base involved the injection of anaerobic groundwater amended with benzene, toluene, and o-xylene (BToX; 1-3 mg/L each) in two parallel lanes: lane A injectate contained no ethanol, whereas lane B injectate contained approximately 500 mg/L ethanol. As reported previously by Mackay and co-workers, ethanol led to slower BToX disappearance in lane B. Here, we report on assessments of BToX natural attenuation by three independent and specific monitoring approaches: signature metabolites diagnostic of anaerobic TX metabolism (benzysuccinates), compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA), and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis of a catabolic gene involved in anaerobic TX degradation (bssA). In combination, the three monitoring methods provided strong evidence of in situ TX biodegradation in both lanes A and B; however, no single method provided strong evidence for TX biodegradation in both lanes. Benzylsuccinates were detected almost exclusively in lane B, where slower TX degradation and higher residual TX concentrations led to higher metabolite concentrations. In contrast, CSIA provided evidence of TX biodegradation almost exclusively in lane A, as greater degradation rates led to more pronounced isotopic enrichment. qPCR analyses of bssA were more complex. Evidence of increases in bssA copy number (up to 200-fold) after the release started was stronger in lane A, but higher absolute bssA copy number (and bacterial abundance, based on 16S rRNA genes) was observed in lane B, where bacteria genetically capable of anaerobic TX degradation may have been growing primarily on ethanol or its metabolites rather than TX.  相似文献

In recent years, the interest in the possible use of natural alternatives to food additives to prevent bacterial and fungal growth has notably increased. Plants and plant products can represent a source of natural alternatives to improve the shelf-life and the safety of food. Some of these compounds, i.e. hexanal, hexanol, 2-(E)-hexenal and 3-(Z)-hexenol, produced throughout the lipoxygenase pathway have important roles in plant defence with a protective action towards microbial proliferation in wounded areas. Otherwise, hexanal and 2-(E)-hexenal have evidenced a marked antimicrobial activity against food spoilage and pathogenic microbial species both in model and real systems. The precise mechanisms of action of all these antimicrobial compounds are not yet clear. Because the usage of these compounds as antimicrobials in foods has to be supported by the comprehension of mechanisms of action of these compounds, the overall purpose of this work was to study the modifications of the cell membrane and volatile compounds of Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella enteritidis and Escherichia coli during the growth in the presence of sub-lethal doses of these two aldehydes. The results obtained evidenced that the tested molecules induced noticeable modifications of the composition of cell membrane and the volatile compounds produced during the growth. Although specific differences in relation to the species considered were identified, 2-(E)-hexenal and hexanal induced a marked increase of some membrane associated fatty acids, both linear and branched fatty acids as well as unsaturated fatty acids, and released free fatty acids.  相似文献

This work investigates the morphology, the thermal, and mechanical properties of technical fibers extracted from the Ampelodesmos mauritanicus (Diss) grass using a process that combines mechanical, mild chemical, and enzymatic steps. The structure and the thermal stability of Diss fibers make them suitable as a reinforcing filler in polymer composites, which was assessed by manufacturing biocomposites with improved stiffness and a tensile strength not degraded by Diss fibers when compared to those of a commodity polymer and a biodegradable one, namely polypropylene and poly(lactic acid). This work confirms that enzyme mixtures obtained from commercially available products of relatively low cost can represent a simple and environmentally friendly means to extract less common natural fibers. Simplified and detailed two-dimensional modeling approaches to transient flows in urban areas, based on finite-volume solution of the shallow water equations, are compared. Through the example of a dam-break flow in a simplified urban district for which accurate laboratory data exist, various methods are compared: (1) the solution of the two-dimensional shallow water equations with a detailed meshing of each street; (2) the use of a porosity concept to represent the reduction of water-storage and conveyance in the urban area; and (3) the representation of urban areas as zones with higher friction coefficient. Accuracy and adequacy of each method are assessed through comparison with the experiments. Among the simplified models, the porosity approach seems to be the most adequate as head losses at the entrance and the exit of the city are considered.  相似文献
