Since its discovery in 1994, leptin has been considered as an adipokine with pleiotropic effects. In this review, we summarize the actual information about the impact of this hormone on cartilage metabolism and pathology. Leptin signalling depends on the interaction with leptin receptor LEPR, being the long isoform of the receptor (LEPRb) the one with more efficient intracellular signalling. Chondrocytes express the long isoform of the leptin receptor and in these cells, leptin signalling, alone or in combination with other molecules, induces the expression of pro-inflammatory molecules and cartilage degenerative enzymes. Leptin has been shown to increase the proliferation and activation of immune cells, increasing the severity of immune degenerative cartilage diseases. Leptin expression in serum and synovial fluid are related to degenerative diseases such as osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Inhibition of leptin signalling showed to have protective effects in these diseases showing the key role of leptin in cartilage degeneration.  相似文献

The present work studies the changes occurring in organic matter, phenols and biotoxicity on composting olive mill wastewater with barley straw. The total organic matter decreased, a drop of 25% was reached after the stabilization phase and 52% at the end of the maturation phase. Degradation of the phenols reached 54% and 95%, respectively, after these periods. The toxicity of the water extract, evaluated by the Photobacterium phosphoreum fluorescence, decreased to disappear after only 2 months of composting. This trend was confirmed by the tight correlation between the physico-chemical and toxicity parameters, indicating that the degradation of organic matter leads to a strong reduction of the C/N ratio and of toxicity. The results obtained indicate a normal process of humification occurring during the composting of the formerly highly toxic olive mill wastewater-straw mixture and resulting in a product, which has good agricultural properties as organic fertilizer.  相似文献

The presence of Aspergillus section Flavi and aflatoxin (AF) contamination was investigated in 112 samples of peanuts, almonds and dried figs collected in Algeria. The occurrence of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), B2 (AFB2), G1 (AFG1) and G2 (AFG2) in different commodities has been determined with a sensitive method based on high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) coupled with fluorescence detection with post-column photochemical derivatisation. Analytical results indicated that 28 samples of peanuts, 16 samples of almonds and 26 samples of dried figs contained detectable levels of AFs. A total of 69 samples (61.6%) were contaminated with AFB1 ranging from the limit of quantification to 174 µg kg?1. AFB2 was found in 12 samples (10.7%) and varied from 0.18 to 193 µg kg?1. Seven samples revealed AF concentrations lower than the limit of quantification. Eleven peanut and fourteen dried fig samples exceeded the European maximum limits for AFB1.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of simply supported functionally graded plates (FGP) resting on a Winkler–Pasternak elastic foundation are examined by a new higher shear deformation theory in this paper. Present theory exactly satisfies stress boundary conditions on the top and the bottom of the plate. The material properties change continuously through the thickness of the plate, which can vary according to power law, exponentially or any other formulations in this direction. The equation of motion for FG rectangular plates resting on elastic foundation is obtained through Hamilton’s principle. The closed form solutions are obtained by using Navier technique, and then fundamental frequencies are found by solving the results of eigenvalue problems. The numerical results obtained through the present analysis for free vibration of functionally graded plates on elastic foundation are presented, and compared with the ones available in the literature.  相似文献

Landslide susceptibility mapping is a necessary tool in order to manage the landslides hazard and improve the risk mitigation. In this research, we validate and compare the landslide susceptibility maps (LSMs) produced by applying four geographic information system (GIS)-based statistical approaches including frequency ratio (FR), statistical index (SI), weights of evidence (WoE), and logistic regression (LR) for the urban area of Azazga. For this purpose, firstly, a landslide inventory map was prepared from aerial photographs and high-resolution satellite imagery interpretation, and detailed fieldwork. Seventy percent of the mapped landslides were selected for landslide susceptibility modeling, and the remaining (30%) were used for model validation. Secondly, ten landslide factors including the slope, aspect, altitude, land use, lithology, precipitation, distance to drainage, distance to faults, distance to lineaments, and distance to roads have been derived from high-resolution Alsat 2A satellite images, aerial photographs, geological map, DEM, and rainfall database. Thirdly, we established LSMs by evaluating the relationships between the detected landslide locations and the ten landslides factors using FR, SI, LR, and WoE models in GIS. Finally, the obtained LSMs of the four models have been validated using the receiver operating characteristics curves (ROCs). The validation process indicated that the FR method provided more accurate prediction (78.4%) in generating LSMs than the SI (78.1%),WoE (73.5%), and LR (72.1%) models. The results revealed also that all the used statistical models provided good accuracy in landslide susceptibility mapping.

A strategy to design intercalated montmorillonite nanocomposites has been explored. A commercial organoclay, 1.34 TCN (Nanocor Inc.), with bis(2‐hydroxylethy1) methy1 tallow ammonium, was modified by tolylene 2,4‐diisocyanate (TDI) and bisphenol A (BA). Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction (XRD) results of unmodified and modified 1.34 TCN (1.34‐TDI‐BA) indicate that TDI and BA have reacted with hydroxy1 groups on the surface of 1.34 TCN and hydroxy1 groups in the interlayer of 1.34 TCN. Using a classical two‐stage cure process with diamine as curing agent, intercalated epoxy nanocomposites were prepared for both types of organoclays. XRD and TEM results showed that the basal spacing of clay in nanocomposites was 3.68 and 4.42 nm for 1.34 TCN and 1.34‐TDI‐BA, respectively. Dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) was performed on both modified and unmodified organoclay composites. Modified organoclay composites were found to have enhanced storage moduli, particularly at temperatures higher than the glass transition, Tg, of the matrix. Glass transition temperatures extracted from linear viscoelastic data are found to be slightly higher for modified organoclay nanocomposites, indicating enhanced interactions between the modified organoclay and the epoxy matrix. These results were also confirmed by independent measurements of Tg using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).  相似文献

In this work, the mechanical strength and weld line morphology of injection molded polystyrene/poly(methyl methacrylate) (PS/PMMA) blends were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and mechanical property test. The experimental results show that the tensile strength of PS/PMMA blends get greatly decreased due to the presence of the weld line. Although the tensile strength without the weld line of PS/PMMA (70/30) is much higher than that of the PS/PMMA (30/70) blend, their tensile strength with weld line shows reversed change. The viscosity ratio of dispersed phase over matrix is a very important parameter for control of weld‐line morphology of the immiscible polymer blend. In PS/PMMA (70/30) blend, the PMMA dispersed domains at the core of the weld line are spherically shaped, which is the same as bulk. While in the PS/PMMA (30/70) blend, the viscosity of the dispersed PS phase is lower than that of the PMMA matrix, the PS phase is absent at the weld line, and PS particles are highly oriented parallel to the weld line, which is a stress concentrator. In this research work, the prediction of the diffusion coefficient (Dp) of Irganox ® 1076 (Ir‐76) antioxidant in HDPE‐based food contact packaging films was carried out. The diffusion of this additive was studied both, in neat HDPE film and in HDPE nanocomposites films made of HDPE matrix filled with 1, 3, and 5 wt% of a commercially available organoclay (Cloisite ® 15A). The diffusion experiments were carried out by using the Roe's method on films consisting of a stack of several polymer films having a total nominal thickness of 120 ± 01 μm. Diffusion coefficients were determined in the temperature range 80°C to 100°C according to the second Fick's law by measuring the evolution of the Ir‐76 concentration in the films by means of Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy analysis. The results indicated that the diffusion coefficient of Ir‐76 in HDPE films decreased with the addition of the organoclay, and a maximum reduction of 78% (at 23°C) in the diffusion rate of the Ir‐76 was observed at an optimum filler content of 3 wt%, thus making these films attractive for the plastic packaging industry.  相似文献
