The compatibility of styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN)-copolymers with polymethylmethacrylate was investigated by means of optical methods, of electron microscopy and of torsion pendulum measurements. SAN-copolymers are compatible with polymethylmethacrylate in the range of 9 to 27 wt.-% of acrylonitrile. The comparison of the solubility parameter δ shows, that one cannot predict exactly the compatibility of polymers. However, a necessary but not sufficient condition seems to be   相似文献

This paper presents a systematic study of the possibilities of time-transparent and of code-transparent binary data transmission in digital communication networks where PCM or differential PCM (DPCM) systems are employed for the encoding of speech or video signals. To describe the effects that occur if data signals instead of speech or video signals are sampled and transmitted by these two encoding methods, time-transparency and code-transparency are defined and are used as figures of merit. The occurrence of time-quantizing errors and amplitude errors at the decoder output is statistically analyzed. The limitations to be considered in the various applications are described, and time- and code-transparency are evaluated quantitatively. The predictions of the analysis are then compared with the results obtained through simulations. The comparison shows that for data rates below 10 percent of the bit rate (bits per second) in the digital channel, conventional PCM and DPCM encoding are acceptable for binary data transmission and have the advantage of easy signal integration. For higher data rates special data encoding is necessary. The encoding method analyzed here is dual-mode.  相似文献

With established urinary markers of kidney integrity the early renal effects of lead have previously been considered to be mainly tubular or tubulointerstitial. In a cross-sectional study on 81 male lead-exposed workers and 45 age-matched controls (median blood lead concentrations 2.03 and 0.34 mumol/l respectively) not only well-established but also new urinary markers of renal integrity preferentially or exclusively located along the different nephron segments were analysed. Markers related to the glomerulus were 6-keto-prostaglandin 1 alpha, thromboxane B2, mainly produced in the glomerulus, and the extracellular matrix protein fibronectin. Markers of the proximal tubule were the brush-border antigens BBA, BB50, and HF5 and the intestinal alkaline phosphatase. Prostaglandin E2 and F2 alpha, preferentially synthesized in the collecting duct and medullary interstitial cells, served as markers of these more distal nephron segments. In contrast to previous studies on the early phase of lead nephrotoxicity, not only tubular but also glomerular involvement could be shown in the study presented here by increases in the median values of 6-keto-prostaglandin 1 alpha and decreases in fibronectin. The proximal tubular markers intestinal alkaline phosphatase and BBA confirmed that this particular segment of the nephron is affected by lead. Effects on the collecting tubule or medullary interstitial cells could also be observed. It is concluded that lead affects both the glomerulus and the tubular apparatus and that combinations of new and established markers could be valuable for a better definition and early detection of lead nephropathy.  相似文献

Quality of life after implantation of an automatic implantable cardioverter/defibrillator (ICD) was assessed by questionnaire in 43 patients (38 males, 5 females; mean age 57 +/- 16 years) with treatment-resistant symptomatic ventricular arrhythmias. 37 of the 43 patients felt better after ICD implantation. 23 were always conscious of having an ICD, but 18 had got used to it in less than 2 months. 15 patients reported being afraid of an ICD shock, while eight noted physical discomfort caused by the ICD. Limitations concerning their professional, recreational and social activities were reported by six patients. 41 of the 43 patients confirmed that the ICD had been helpful, enabling 23 to return to an active life. 42 would recommend implantation to others if indicated. These data demonstrate that there is a remarkably high degree of acceptance of the ICD. Survival rate after implantation is thus not the only criterion of success. All aspects of the quality of life should be taken into consideration before implantation is decided upon.  相似文献

Insular neurons responsive to baroreceptor challenge have been identified in the rat, but not previously in primates. Characterization of baroreceptor-related neurons was performed in 15 anesthetized monkeys (Macaca fascicularis) using extracellular single-unit recording techniques. 131 units were investigated within the insula and surrounding regions. Based on their responses to phenylephrine hydrochloride (PE) and sodium nitroprusside (SNP), three types of units were distinguished: 35/131 (27%) sympathoexcitatory (SE), 12/131 (9%) sympathoinhibitory (SI) and 84 (64%) null units. More baroreceptive units were found within the insula (38/73, 52%) than in surrounding areas (9/58, 16%) (p < 0.001). Lateralization was indicated with more baroreceptive units being encountered within the right insula (28/44, 64%) than the left (10/29, 34%) (p = 0.02). The majority of the responsive units were located within the dysgranular and granular insula in layers II, III and V/VI. These data suggest that cardiovascular representation may occur in the primate insula as has been shown in other species.  相似文献

Expression of alpha9 acetylcholine receptor (AChR) mRNA was studied by in situ hybridization in the rat adult and developing cochlea and vestibular inner ear. Alpha9 AChR mRNA was first observed in cochlear hair cells (HCs) at embryonic day 18 (E18), increased markedly after birth, stayed high until postnatal day 10 (P10), and decreased to substantially lower adult levels by P14. High levels of alpha9 AChR mRNA expression were also noted in the developing nonneuronal structures of the inner sulcus, chondrocytes, and/or osteoblasts in the cochlear capsule and interscalar laminae. Both developing and adult bone marrow cells also expressed intense alpha9 AChR mRNA. In the vestibular system, alpha9 AChR mRNA was first observed in HCs at E16 in all sensory epithelia, increased to its highest levels by P0-P4, then decreased slightly to reach adult levels by P10. The results are consistent with the alpha9 AChR subserving efferent neurotransmission to both cochlear and vestibular HCs. The observation of alpha9 AChR mRNA in cochlear HCs 2 weeks prior to functional onset in the cochlea further suggests that expression of this gene is not related to HC activity. The observation of substantial nonneuronal expression of alpha9 AChR mRNA suggests that this receptor also has functions separate from its role in neurotransmission.  相似文献

The combination of code division multiple access(CDMA) and multicarrier (MC) transmission techniques,termed MC-CDMA, is considered a promising alternative toconventional DS (direct sequence)-CDMA. For this reason, recent research activities haveconcentrated on the application of MC-CDMA to mobileradio systems. In this paper an MC-CDMA concept which iswell suited for mobile radio applications is described. The described MC-CDMA concept overcomesdisadvantages of previously proposed concepts. InMC-CDMA mobile radio systems, signal reception isimpaired by time-varying multipath propagation. Theimpairments can be reduced by applying diversitytechniques. Coherent receiver antenna diversity (CRAD)is especially attractive because only the signalprocessing at the receivers must be modified. In thiscommunication, the application of CRAD in combination withjoint detection (JD) techniques to the more criticaluplink of MC-CDMA mobile radio systems is investigated.It is explained that the deployment of JD techniques for CRAD is an effective countermeasure againstthe influence of the mobile radio channel on the systemperformance. Four JD techniques for CRAD which areapplicable to MC-CDMA are presented. Their performances are studied in bad urban, typical urban, andtypical macrocellular environments. It is shown thatMC-CDMA allows a favorable performance compared to otherCDMA concepts.  相似文献

Molecular conformations of stereoregular poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) monolayers have been investigated by scanning probe microscopes. Isotactic and syndiotactic PMMAs were found to have right and left hand helical structures, respectively. On the contrary atactic PMMA showed rather random arrangement of the chains. It has been demonstrated that the PMMA Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films can be utilized to form nanoscale patterns down to 50 nm and to form a geodesic lens. It has also been manifested that the quantum efficiency of a polymer electroluminescent device can be significantly enhanced by inserting the PMMA LB films between the emitting layer and the cathode. All the applications utilize the unique characteristics of the LB films to form thin and uniform films in the molecular level.  相似文献

Platelet interaction with soluble and insoluble collagens was characterized through binding studies. In contrast to resting platelets, cells reacted with activators, TS2/16 (integrin alpha2 beta1-activating antibody), thrombin, collagen-related peptide, or ADP, exhibited specific soluble collagen binding that is Mg2+-dependent, but inhibited by prostaglandin I2, Ca2+, and Gi9 (anti-integrin alpha2 beta1 antibody). Each platelet has 1500-3500 soluble collagen binding sites, with a dissociation constant of 3. 5-9 x 10(-8) M. This is the first study to show the specific binding of soluble collagen to platelets; our data strongly suggest that the receptor is integrin alpha2 beta1 after it becomes activated upon platelet activation. These results suggest that activation of platelets transforms integrin alpha2 beta1 to a state with higher affinity binding sites for soluble collagen. The soluble collagen-platelet interaction was compared with the platelet interaction with fibrillar collagen, which has until now not been demonstrated to bind specifically to platelets. Here, we demonstrated specific, biphasic fibrillar collagen binding. One phase is rapid and metal ion-independent, and accounts for most of the binding. The other phase is slow and Mg2+-dependent. The characteristic differences in the specific bindings of soluble and fibrous collagens demonstrate the different contributions of two different collagen receptors.  相似文献
