Linear buckling constraints are important in structural topology optimization for obtaining designs that can support the required loads without failure. During the optimization process, the critical buckling eigenmode can change; this poses a challenge to gradient‐based optimization and can require the computation of a large number of linear buckling eigenmodes. This is potentially both computationally difficult to achieve and prohibitively expensive. In this paper, we motivate the need for a large number of linear buckling modes and show how several features of the block Jacobi conjugate gradient (BJCG) eigenvalue method, including optimal shift estimates, the reuse of eigenvectors, adaptive eigenvector tolerances and multiple shifts, can be used to efficiently and robustly compute a large number of buckling eigenmodes. This paper also introduces linear buckling constraints for level‐set topology optimization. In our approach, the velocity function is defined as a weighted sum of the shape sensitivities for the objective and constraint functions. The weights are found by solving an optimization sub‐problem to reduce the mass while maintaining feasibility of the buckling constraints. The effectiveness of this approach in combination with the BJCG method is demonstrated using a 3D optimization problem. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

This paper presents a new approach to Particle Swarm Optimization, called Michigan Approach PSO (MPSO), and its application to continuous classification problems as a Nearest Prototype (NP) classifier. In Nearest Prototype classifiers, a collection of prototypes has to be found that accurately represents the input patterns. The classifier then assigns classes based on the nearest prototype in this collection. The MPSO algorithm is used to process training data to find those prototypes. In the MPSO algorithm each particle in a swarm represents a single prototype in the solution and it uses modified movement rules with particle competition and cooperation that ensure particle diversity. The proposed method is tested both with artificial problems and with real benchmark problems and compared with several algorithms of the same family. Results show that the particles are able to recognize clusters, find decision boundaries and reach stable situations that also retain adaptation potential. The MPSO algorithm is able to improve the accuracy of 1-NN classifiers, obtains results comparable to the best among other classifiers, and improves the accuracy reported in literature for one of the problems.

In this paper, the performance and durability of hybrid PEM fuel cell vehicles are investigated. To that end, a hybrid predictive controller is proposed to improve battery performance and to avoid fuel cell and battery degradation. Such controller deals with this complex control problem by handling binary and continuous variables, piecewise affine models and constraints. Moreover, the control strategy is to track motor power demand and keep batteries close to a desired battery state of charge which is appropriately chosen to minimize hydrogen consumption. It is important to highlight the consideration of constraints which are directly related to the goals of this paper, such as minimum fuel cell power threshold and time limitation between fuel cell startups and shutdowns. Furthermore, different models have been elaborated and particularized for a vehicle prototype. These models include few innovations such as a reference governor which smooths fuel cell power demand during sharp power profiles, forcing batteries to supply such peaks and resulting a longer fuel cell lifetime. Battery thermal dynamics are also taken into account in these models in order to analyze the effect of battery temperature on its degradation. Finally, this paper studies the feasibility of the real implementation, presenting an explicit formulation as a solution to reduce execution time. This explicit controller exhibits the same performance as the hybrid predictive controller does with a reduced computational effort. In recent years, considerable attention has been paid to enterprise information systems. This interest is motivated by the need for achieving better integration of new technologies (hardware and software) with the business processes of an organization. Business processes have become more and more dependent on technologies because technology has a direct impact on business processes, changing the way they are performed and thus also affecting the way analysts design the software system. However, at the present time, there are still some gaps between the definition of business processes and the technologies used in the organization. In practice, organizations have carried out their business processes using different technologies; however, it is sometimes not possible to determine how technologies are useful in achieving current business goals. This is because business models do not explicitly consider the technologies in the organizational requirements. The goal of this paper is to present a systematic process for integrating business processes and technologies at the conceptual level. To validate our approach, we present a case study that describes the processes of the inventory management department of a public research center.  相似文献

Color vision supports two distinct visual functions: discrimination and constancy. Discrimination requires that the visual response to distinct objects within a scene be different. Constancy requires that the visual response to any object be the same across scenes. Across changes in scene, adaptation can improve discrimination by optimizing the use of the available response range. Similarly, adaptation can improve constancy by stabilizing the visual response to any fixed object across changes in illumination. Can common mechanisms of adaptation achieve these two goals simultaneously? We develop a theoretical framework for answering this question and present several example calculations. In the examples studied, the answer is largely yes when the change of scene consists of a change in illumination and considerably less so when the change of scene consists of a change in the statistical ensemble of surface reflectances in the environment.  相似文献

In vitro interaction of Entamoeba histolytica trophozoites with fibronectin (FN) induces redistribution of the amoebic fibronectin receptor (β1EhFNR). Trafficking of beta1 integrins is important for cell adhesion and migration in higher eukaryotes and requires the participation of Rab proteins. In E. histolytica, the machinery involved in integrin trafficking is not completely known. EhRab7 is a 24.5-kDa protein whose alignment with other Rab7 proteins demonstrated that it shared significant homology with Rab7 proteins from other organisms, including humans. Using different types of microscopy (fluorescence and confocal microscopy), it was established that Rab7 and the actin cytoskeleton participated in the mobilization of β1EhFNR in FN-stimulated trophozoites. β1EhFNR and Rab7 co-localized only in vesicular structures at 5 min, and at longer time (1 h), both co-localized in both plasma membrane and in vesicular structures; at the same time, Rab7 co-localized with specific actin structures (phagocytic vacuoles). At 5 h the β1EhFNR, Rab7, and actin co-localized at the plasma membrane, and only β1EhFNR and Rab7 decorated vesicles of different sizes. Actin and Rab7 co-localized in a cap-like structure at one end of the cell. Fluorescence resonance energy transfer and electron microscopy confirmed the close interaction between β1EhFNR and Rab7. Moreover, the use of a lysosome-specific marker (LysoTracker) and a Golgi-specific marker (NBD C(6)-ceramide) allowed us to establish that, at some point within the endocytic route, β1EhFNR and Rab7 co-localized within a lysosome-type organelle, but not a Golgi-like organelle, which indicated that this integrin-like molecule was returned to the plasma membrane via exocytic or secretory vesicles.  相似文献

With about 2.2 million Americans currently using wheeled mobility devices, wheelchairs are frequently provided to people with impaired mobility to provide accessibility to the community. Individuals with spinal cord injuries, arthritis, balance disorders, and other conditions or diseases are typical users of wheelchairs. However, secondary injuries and wheelchair-related accidents are risks introduced by wheelchairs. Research is underway to advance wheelchair design to prevent or accommodate secondary injuries related to propulsion and transfer biomechanics, while improving safe, functional performance and accessibility to the community. This paper summarizes research and development underway aimed at enhancing safety and optimizing wheelchair design.  相似文献

This study extends the literature on eating disorder symptomatology by testing, based on extant literature on objectification theory (B. L. Fredrickson & T. Roberts, 1997) and the role of sociocultural standards of beauty (e.g., L. J. Heinberg, J. K. Thompson, & S. Stormer, 1995), a model that examines (a) links of reported sexual objectification experiences to eating disorder-related variables and (b) the mediating roles of body surveillance, body shame, and internalization of sociocultural standards of beauty. Consistent with hypotheses, with a sample of 221 young women, support was found for a model in which (a) internalization of sociocultural standards of beauty mediated the links of sexual objectification experiences to body surveillance, body shame, and eating disorder symptoms, (b) body surveillance was an additional mediator of the link of reported sexual objectification experiences to body shame, and (c) body shame mediated the links of internalization and body surveillance to disordered eating.
