SeveralHii regions were observed in the Instituto Argentina de Radioastronomía (IAR) in the H166 line and 1.4 GHz radio continuum. Resulting physical parameters derived from low-frequency (H166 line) and high-frequency (H110, H109, H76 line, made by other authors) observations ofHii regions are compared. Low-frequency derived parameters describe better the low-density ionized gas conditions, whereas high-frequency observations are more sensitive to high density ionized gas located in the central parts of the nebulae.  相似文献

We investigate the near-ultraviolet high-resolution LWR spectra of the stars Cas, And, Tau, Gem, Cru, Boo, and Peg, obtained with the aid of the International Ultraviolet Explorer Satellite. We have given here a list of the strongest and most prevalent emission lines in the near-ultraviolet spectra of Boo, KlIIIp, and Peg, M2.5II-III which have the same luminosity class and different spectral type. The near-ultraviolet continuum flux measurements and integrated emission line fluxes of these stars for the 2500–3200 Å region are presented in order to compare the variations in the appearance of the near-ultraviolet flux distribution with the temperature structure of their chromospheres for K and M giant stars. We also discuss differences between observed and calculated fluxes found from the Planck function.  相似文献

We briefly review the status of models of optical flare heating by electron bombardment. We recompute Brown's (1973a) flare model atmospheres using considerably revised radiative loss rates, based on Canfield's (1974b) method applied to , L, and H. Profiles of are computed and compared with observation. The computed profiles agree satisfactorily with those observed during the large 1972 August 7 flare, if spatial and velocity inhomogeneities are assumed. The electron injection rate inferred from is one order of magnitude less than that inferred from hard X-rays, for this event. This may be due to either (1) the neglect of a mechanism that reduces the thick-target electron injection rate or (2) failure to incorporate important radiative loss terms.  相似文献

We use the Cerenkov line emission mechanism to give a new explanation of the observed intensity ratios, particularly the L/H ratio, of the emission lines of quasars. We give equations that restrict the choice of the parameter values. The parameters are the characteristic energy of the relativistic electrons, the number density of neutral hydrogen and its relative level populations. With reasonable choice of the parmaeters, we can obtain calculated L/H, H/H, P/H ratios in agreement with observed values. Our estimate for the gas density in the broad line region of quasars is 1015 cm–3, very different from previous estimates. Unlike previous theories, such a high density causes no difficulties with the Cerenkov line emission.  相似文献

The thermal contrast , and the umbra-penumbraA u/A p, were calculated for 63 sunspots of various sizes and morphologies. Contrary to the assumptions of the PSI model, andA u/A p were found to be quite variable. The values of ranged from 0.1807 to 0.4266;A u/A p ranged from 0.0089 to 0.4899. The values of andA u/A p correlated well (r = 0.6018;p<0.005) and the regression for andA u/A p was obtained: = (0.220 ± 0.016) + (0.340 ± O.06)A u/A p. The values of andA u/A p were then compared with complexity ratings, magnetic field strength, time, and . The quantities andA u/A p were found to be independent of the complexity, magnetic field strength, and time factors. The correlation between andA u/A p lead to the proposed division of into an umbral thermal contrast u, and a penumbral thermal contrast p. These values were calculated from the photometric data: u = 0.57 ± 0.01 and p = 0.26 ± 0.006.  相似文献

H observations, using the Multichannel Subtractive Double Pass (MSDP) spectrograph operating on the Meudon Solar Tower, have been made of an active region filament which undergoes a disparition brusque. The period of observation was from 10 45 to 13 30 UT on 22 June, 1981. Velocity and intensity fluctuations in H were measured. The proper motions of ejecta were followed allowing their trajectories and vector velocities to be determined. To model the dynamics of ejecta several models using thermal or magnetic driving forces are compared. The most promising model explains the motion as the consequence of magnetic stresses acting on an isolated magnetized plasmoïd in a diverging flux tube.  相似文献

We develop an automatic, computer controlled procedure to select and to analyze the Network Bright Points (NBPs) on solar images. These have been obtained at the Sac Peak Vacuum Tower Telescope by means of the Universal Birefringent Filter and Zeiss H filters, tuned, respectively, along the profiles of the H, Mg-b1, Na-D2, and H lines.A structure is identified as an NBP if at the wavelength H- 1.5 A its maximum intensity is greater than I + 3 and its area is greater than 1.5 arc sec2 at I + 1.5, where I is the mean value and the standard deviation of the intensity distribution on the image. Each detected NBP is then searched and confirmed in all the remaining 31 images at different wavelengths.For each NBP several parameters are measured (position, area, mean and maximum contrast, Dopplergram velocity, compactness, and so on) and some identification constraints are applied.The statistical analysis of the various parameter distributions, for NBPs present within an active region and its surroundings, shows that two types of NBPs can be identified according to the value of their mean contrast C min the H- 1.5 Å image (C m 0.1 type I, C m> 0.1 type II). The type I NBPs (all occurring on the boundaries of the supergranular network) appear to be much more frequent (180/26) than the type II ones.The size A of type I NBPs is less than 1.0 arc sec for H/H wings but of the order of 1.2 arc sec for Na-D2 and Mg-bl. The mean contrast C m is around the value of 10% along the Na-D2 and Mg-bl profiles and of 20% along the H/H wings.The C m - A scatter diagrams show, for the photospheric radiation (h < 100 km), a narrow range of variability for C min correspondence with a wide range for A. For radiation orginated at higher levels (h > 200 km), the C m- A scatter diagrams seem to indicate, even if with a large variance, that the highest C m's tend to correspond to the highest A values.The mean Doppler shift is close to zero for Na-D2 and Mg-bl lines but negative (downward motion) for H and H lines.The type II NBPs tends to be preferentially located in the neighbourhood of small, compact sunspots and their detectability is almost constant through all the 4 studied line profiles. No conclusions can be derived on the mean size, contrast and Doppler shift values because their distributions are too dispersed. The only positive information is that its C m- A scatter diagram, in H and H wings, indicates a wide range of variability for C m in correspondence with very narrow range of variability for A.  相似文献

The surface photometry of S254–S257 has been carried out by means of a wide range image processing technique in the reduction system. The photographic plates in the H+[NII] andV-bands are taken with the Schmidt telescope. Especially, we have obtained the calibrated map of theHii region, superposing two or more plates with different exposure times, and removing the star images. Three kinds of calibrated maps of theHii regions are drawn: (1)E-map in the (H+[NII]+continuum) (2)V-map in the continuum atV-band, (3)(E-V)-map in the (H+[NII]) line emission. The intensity profiles across the nebular centers were also obtained. Based on calibrated maps, the morphological structure and mass distribution of S255 and S257 are discussed. The location of observed nebulae on the (m Hm v) diagram, wherem H andm v denote the surface brightness, expressed in the magnitude per square arcmin, is shown together with that of some other nebulae. Some arguements on the age sequence of observedHii regions are presented.  相似文献

The region around the Herbig Ae/Be star LkH198 was imaged at 10m with the CAMIRAS camera at the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope and the Nordic Optical Telescope. We discovered a deeply embedded companion 6 north of LkH198, which may be responsible for most of the far-infrared emission in the region and for driving the molecular flow. LkH198 appears point-like at our resolution (FWHM 1.3), excluding an extended envelope of transiently heated small grains as the dominant origin of the mid-infrared excess in that star.  相似文献

Using a photospheric magnetogram of the solar activity complex HR 16862, 16863, 16864 at the end of May 1980 as boundary data a sequence of three-dimensional force-free magnetic fields with spatially constant ( defined by the equation × B = B) is calculated, including numerical field-line tracing. The field is assumed not to be frozen-in and ¦¦, which is a measure of the magnetic free energy, is assumed to increase with time due to some dynamo mechanism. Variation of , starting from = 0, produces a catastrophe-like change of the topology of a field-line system corresponding to an arch filament system connecting the leading spot of HR 16863 with the trailing spot of HR 16862. This topological change is interpreted as causing a series of large homologous flares with synchronous flaring in the two spots. The catastrophe-like behaviour of the field topology is attributed to the nonlinear field-line equations.  相似文献

We report measurements made on the brightness in H of all parts of the flare photographed through a birefringent filter centered on H, using a scanning isodensitometer. In the time period from 1972-1993, the Seyfert 1 galaxy Mrk 509 showed large variations of its optical continuum and broad emission line fluxes. The broad H and H emission lines have approximately the same profiles, which retain their shape during flux variations. The relationship between the continuum and emission line fluxes varies with time. The spectral energy distribution of the variable continuum based on UBVRI data has the form lgF() lg, with the dereddened = -0.60.  相似文献

The Oppenheimer-Penney theory to calculate the polarization of L lines from hydrogen-like ions, when the impact electrons are distributed such that their probability is more in the regions close to the magnetic field (f(cos n ), is applied by Chandra and Joshi (1984). The work of Chandra and Joshi (1984) has been reinvestigated for the pitch-angle distributionf()sin n . This investigation shows that statistically there are significant time delays between H and hard X-ray (HXR) emissions during solar flares; most impulsive flares produce HXR emissions up to 1 min before and up to 2 min after the onset of H emission. The Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) has a long tradition of synoptic full-disk observations. Synoptic observations of contrast enhanced full-disk images in the Caii K-line have been used with great success to reproduce the Hi L irradiance variability observed with the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS). Recent improvements in data calibration procedures and image- processing techniques enable us now to provide contrast enhanced H full-disk images with a spatial resolution of approximately 2 and a temporal resolution of up to 3 frames min–1.In this first paper in a series, we describe the instruments, the data calibration procedures, and the image-processing techniques used to obtain our daily H full-disk observations. We also present the final data products such as low- and high-contrast images, and Carrington rotation charts. A time series of an erupting mini- filament further illustrates the quality of our H full-disk observations and motivate one of the future research projects. This lays a solid foundation for our subsequent studies of solar activity and chromospheric fine structures. The high quality and the sunrise- to-sunset operation of the H full-disk observations presented in this paper make them an ideal choice to study statistical properties of mini-filament eruptions, chromospheric differential rotation, and meridional flows within the chromosphere, as well as the evolution of active regions, filaments, flares, and prominences.  相似文献

Intensities and profiles of the H, H, H, K, and D3 lines are measured in a solar prominence. From the profiles of these lines we estimate T = 6400 K and t = 5.7 km s–1. We construct a simple isothermal model which explains the H intensity and profile for an assumed total particle density n T = 3 × 1011 cm–3, and a filling factor, = 1/6.From this model we find that the source function in the H line is nearly constant through the prominence. We estimate from the model that the radiative energy loss at the center of the prominence is of the order of 107 erg s–1 g–1.  相似文献

We evaluate the relationship between the hard X-ray photon spectrum and the flux of iron K emission in a thick-target electron bombardment model. Results are presented for various power-law hard X-ray spectra. We then apply these results to two events observed with the Hard X-Ray Burst Spectrometer and the K channel of the X-Ray Polychromator Bent Crystal Spectrometer on the Solar Maximum Mission satellite. For one of the events, on 29 March, 1980, at 09:18 UT, the K flux predicted for a thick-target non-thermal process is significant compared to the background fluorescent component, and the data are indeed consistent with an enhancement of the predicted amount. For the other event, on 14 October, 1980 at 06:09 UT, the hard X-ray spectrum is so steep that no significant Ka flux is predicted for this process, and no enhancement is seen. We conclude that the agreement between the predicted K flux and the observed magnitude of the K enhancement above the fluorescent background at the time of the large hard X-ray bursts lends support to a thick-target non-thermal interpretation of impulsive hard X-ray emission in solar flares.  相似文献

We discuss the evolution of pulses of heat both along and perpendicular to magnetic fields threading quiescent prominences. We show that while heating of prominence material can take place on a time scale of the order 103 s (of the same order as the observed winking of H light from prominences and also of the same order as the dynamical Alfvén time scale across a prominence sheet) individual flux tubes are effectively thermally insulated from neighboring tubes, since the transverse (to the ambient supporting magnetic field) heat conduction time scale is of order 104 yr. The exact solution to the one-dimensional parallel heat conduction problem is shown to differ significantly from the approximate solution reported by Ioshpa (1965). We also suggest that uneven heating of a quiescent prominence by the surrounding solar corona may be a contributory mechanism for surges and/or the observed winking phenomenon - both of which are recorded in many quiescent prominences. The signature of such a temperature pulse would be a sharp (103 s) brightening of continuum radiation with a correlated decrease in the free-bound emission, followed by a slow (104 s) recovery of both to their pre-heat pulse levels.  相似文献

The results of new observations of moustaches in H filtergrams and in H spectra are presented and their relations to photospheric and chromospheric phenomena are studied. The main findings and conclusions are: (1) previous results on basic data (size, brightness, lifetime, etc.) are essentially confirmed; (2) limb observations located the moustaches at the base of the structured H chromosphere, just above the level of the emission of H±1 Å. At the disk moustaches are, in general, covered by absorbing and slightly Doppler-shifted chromospheric elements which determine the H core in the moustache spectrum. However, absorption-free moustaches with an H emission core revealing a pure (true) moustache spectrum have also been found; (3) moustaches have been found to coincide with continuous facular granules; it is suggested that they are an extension of facular granules into the chromosphere rather than a low-level flare-like phenomenon.Mitteilung aus dem Fraunhofer Institut, No. 114.  相似文献
