Ethylenediamine-bisborane (C2H14B2N2, BH3NH2CH2CH2NH2BH3, EDB), an important carbon derivative of ammonia-borane (AB), has come to the fore in recent years due to some disadvantages that limit the practical use of AB for the applications of hydrogen storage. EDB is a very promising chemical hydrogen storage material in the solid crystal form at room temperature, with a hydrogen content of 16.3% by weight, which decomposes rapidly at temperatures above 363 K. Despite all these superior features, studies on catalytic systems that catalyze the hydrogen production from the EDB are very few. In the present study, we report the synthesis, characterization, and application of manganese oxide octahedral molecular sieves (OMS-2) stabilized Rh nanoparticles (Rh@OMS-2) as highly efficient and reusable catalysts for the hydrogen production from the hydrolysis of EDB. The results of characterization using P-XRD, XPS, FT-IR, SEM, SEM-elemental mapping, TEM, HR-TEM, and ICP-OES disclose that Rh (0) nanoparticles were well spread on the surface of OMS-2 nanorods. Rh@OMS-2 showed a record catalytic activity in EDB hydrolysis with an initial turn-over frequency of 102.95 min?1 (6177 h?1) at 25 ± 0.1 °C, the highest value ever reported for the hydrolysis of EDB. In addition, the fact that the Rh@OMS-2 catalyst kept its initial activity at the end of the 7th cycle in the hydrolysis of EDB showed that the Rh@OMS-2 was reusable and stable heterogeneous catalyst in this catalytic transformation.  相似文献

The aim of this work is to prepare CoB catalysts supported on raw bentonite (CoB/bentonite) and Na-exchanged bentonite (CoB/Na-bentonite) by the impregnation and chemical reduction method. The prepared catalysts were characterized using X-ray diffractometry (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) techniques. The activities of the catalysts were tested in the hydrolysis reaction of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in a semi-batch system. The volume of the evolved hydrogen gas was determined by a water displacement method. The effects of catalyst amount, NaOH (a base stabilizer) concentration, NaBH4 concentration and solution temperature on the hydrogen generation rate were investigated. The maximum hydrogen generation rates were determined as 921.94 mL/min.gcat for CoB/bentonite and 1601.45 mL/min.gcat for CoB/Na-bentonite when the 5 wt % NaBH4 and 10 wt % NaOH solutions were used at 50 °C. The activation energies (Ea) of the hydrolysis reaction over CoB/bentonite and CoB/Na-bentonite were determined as 55.76 and 56.61 kJ/mol, respectively.  相似文献

The hydrolysis of ammonia borane (NH3BH3, AB) is an efficient strategy for high-purify hydrogen evolution. However, it is indispensable to develop a suitable catalyst because this reaction is kinetically infeasible at room temperature. In this work, we prepared a series of nano hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) supported CuNi bimetallic catalysts through a facile adsorption-chemical reduction procedure. The effects of various molar ratios of Cu to Ni and CuNi loadings on AB hydrolysis were investigated in details. Benefitting from the proper porous structure, the interesting alloy effect of Cu and Ni, as well as the synergistic effect between h-BN and CuNi, 20 wt% Cu0.5Ni0.5/h-BN displays the highest catalytic activity among the as-prepared catalysts. Apart from satisfactory durability, the corresponding hydrogen generation rate, turnover frequency at 303 K in base solution and apparent activation energy are 2437.0 mL g?1 min?1, 6.33 min?1 and 23.02 kJ mol?1, respectively, which are very outstanding compared with many previous results. Our work not only provides a proper non-precious metal catalyst for hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of chemical hydrogen storage materials but also offers a facile strategy for synthesizing metallic functional materials.  相似文献

In this work, poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP)-stabilized ruthenium nanoparticles (NPs) supported on bamboo leaf-derived porous carbon (Ru/BC) has been synthesized via a one-step procedure. The structure and morphology of the as-synthesized samples were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). As a catalyst for hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of ammonia-borane (AB, NH3BH3) at room temperature, Ru/BC stabilized with 1 mg of PVP exhibited high activity (TOF = 718 molH2·molRu−1·min−1) and low activation energy (Ea = 22.8 kJ mol−1). In addition, the catalyst could be easily recovered and showed fairly good recyclability with 55.6% of the initial catalytic activity retained after ten experimental cycles, which confirmed that PVP could stabilize the Ru NPs and prevent their agglomeration on BC surface. Our results suggest that PVP-stabilized Ru/BC is a highly efficient catalyst for the hydrolysis of AB.  相似文献

Photoelectrocatalytic hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB) is a promising technique for producing hydrogen gas (H2) in the presence of an appropriate photocatalyst under light irradiation and bias. The application of cuprous oxide on titanium dioxide nanotube arrays (Cu2O/TNA) for the photoelectrocatalytic hydrolysis of AB was studied. Cu2O/TNA exhibited a spectral response in the ultraviolet–visible region and an onset wavelength of 600 nm. With AB in an electrolyte, Cu2O/TNA exhibited a significant increase in its photocurrent spectral response at a bias of 0.1 V versus Ag/AgCl. The H2 generation rate by photoelectrocatalysis (under 5-mW cm?2 irradiation at 455 nm; bias of 0.1 V vs. Ag/AgCl) was 0.018 μmol s?1 cm?2, which was twice that by photocatalysis and four times those by catalysis and electrocatalysis; a Faradaic efficiency of 77% (corresponding to the oxidation reaction of AB) was also observed. Hence, Cu2O/TNA is an efficient photoanode for photoelectrocatalytic hydrolysis of AB.  相似文献

Hydrogen evolution from ammonia borane (AB) hydrolysis is of great importance considering the ever-increasing demand for green and sustainable energy. However, the development of a facile and efficient strategy to construct high-performance catalysts remains a grand challenge. Herein, we report an amino-group and space-confinement assisted strategy to fabricate Rh nanoparticles (NPs) using amino-functionalized metal-organic-frameworks (UiO-66-NH2) as a NP matrix (Rh/UiO-66-NH2). Owing to the coordination effect of amino-group and space-confinement of UiO-66-NH2, small and well-distributed Rh NPs with a diameter of 3.38 nm are successfully achieved, which can be served as efficient catalysts for AB hydrolysis at room temperature. The maximum turnover frequency of 876.7 min?1 is obtained by using the Rh/UiO-66-NH2 with an optimal Rh loading of 4.38 wt% and AB concentration of 0.2 M at 25 °C, outperforming most of the previously developed Rh-based catalysts. The catalyst is also stable in repetitive cycles for five times. The high performance of this catalyst must be ascribed to the structural properties of UiO-66-NH2, which enable the formation of small and well-dispersed Rh NPs with abundant accessible active sites. This study provides a simple and efficient method to significantly enhance the catalytic performance of Rh for AB hydrolysis.  相似文献

Developing an efficient catalyst for hydrogen (H2) generation from hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB) to significantly improve the activity for the hydrogen generation from AB is important for its practical application. Herein, we report a novel hybrid nanostructure composed of uniformly dispersed Co@Co2P core-shell nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in N-doped carbon nanotube polyhedron (Co@Co2P/N–CNP) through a carbonization-phosphidation strategy derived from ZIF-67. Benefiting from the electronic effect of P doping, high dispersibility and strong interfacial interaction between Co@Co2P and N-CNTs, the Co@Co2P/N–CNP catalyst exhibits excellent catalytic performance towards the hydrolysis of AB for hydrogen generation, affording a high TOF value of 18.4 mol H2 mol metal?1 min?1 at the first cycle. This work provides a promising lead for the design of efficient heterogeneous catalysts towards convenient H2 generation from hydrogen-rich substrates in the close future.  相似文献

Ammonia borane (AB) has been identified as one of the most promising candidates for chemical hydrogen storage. However, the practical application of AB for hydrogen production is hindered by the need of efficient and inexpensive catalysts. For the first time, we report that the incorporation of Mo into Cu@Co core-shell structure can significantly improve the catalytic efficiency of hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of AB. The Cu0.81@Mo0.09Co0.10 core-shell catalyst displays high catalytic activity towards the hydrolysis dehydrogenation of AB with a turnover frequency (TOF) value of 49.6 molH2 molcat?1 min?1, which is higher than most of Cu-based catalysts ever reported, and even comparable to those of noble-metal based catalysts. The excellent catalytic performance is attributed to the multi-elements co-deposition effect and electrons transfer effect of Cu, Mo and Co in the tri-metallic core-shell NPs.  相似文献

The introduction of magnetism into a catalyst can greatly optimize its separation performance. In the present work, a kind of magnetically separable catalysts for promoting NaBH4 hydrolysis have been fabricated by anchoring cobalt nanoparticles on magnetic dendritic KCC-1 nanospheres composed of magnetic Fe3O4 core and fibrous shell. The fabricated catalysts were characterized with various characterization methods, including absorption spectroscopy (AAS), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), high-resolution transmission electronic microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), etc. This kind of catalysts exhibit high catalytic activity for promoting the hydrolysis of NaBH4 under alkaline conditions, giving a hydrogen generation rate and activation energy of 3.83 L min−1 gCo−1 (30 °C) and 53.63 kJ mol−1, respectively. After used for 5 cycles, the catalyst showed 36.5% catalytic activity reserved. Most importantly, the magnetism of the catalyst made it easily separated and recycled from the solution after the reaction completed. The development of this kind of catalysts could provide a promising option for catalyzing NaBH4 hydrolysis for portable hydrogen production from.  相似文献

In recent years, catalytic hydrolysis of sodium borohydride is considered to be a promising approach for hydrogen generation towards fuel cell devices, and highly efficient and noble-metal-free catalysts have attracted increasing attention. In our present work, Co3O4 nanocubes are synthesized by solvothermal method, and then vapor-phase phosphorization treatment is carried out for the preparation of novel Co−O−P composite nanocatalysts composed of multiple active centers including Co, CoO, and Co2P. For catalyst characterization, field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectric spectroscopy (XPS) are conducted. Optimal conditions for catalyst preparation and application were investigated in detail. At room temperature (25 °C), maximum hydrogen generation rate (HGR) is measured to be 4.85 L min−1 g−1 using a 4 wt% NaBH4 − 8 wt% NaOH solution, which is much higher than that of conventional catalysts with single component reported in literature. It is found that HGR remarkably increases with the increasing of reaction temperature, and apparent activation energy for catalytic hydrolysis of NaBH4 is calculated to be 63 kJ mol−1. After reusing for five times, the Co−O−P composite nanocatalysts still retains 78% of the initial activity.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of poly (N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone)-protected platinum (Pt/PVP) nanoparticles with their employment as highly effective catalysts to liberate hydrogen from hydrolysis of ethylenediamine bisborane (EDAB) is reported here. The nanoparticles are easily synthesized from the reduction of platinum cations in ethanol/water mixture under refluxing. They remain stable for months without any sign of precipitation. They are characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), powder X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Pt/PVP nanoparticles provide the greatest TOF value (166.7 min?1) reported so far for the hydrolysis of EDAB. Their activation energy is 81.9 kJ mol-1 in the same reaction.  相似文献

The biohybrid Na-Alg@Ru catalyst was prepared as a result of stabilizing Ru(0) nanoparticles with biopolymer chains of sodium alginate. The in-situ prepared Ru(0) nanoparticles had an average particle size of 1.023 ± 0.097 nm. The monodisperse Ru(0) nanoparticles prepared with a very practical, inexpensive and rapid method were used as a catalyst in hydrogen production by the hydrolysis reaction of ammonia borane (AB). The Na-Alg@Ru catalyst containing 3 mg Ru(0) metal catalyzed the hydrolysis of 50 mM AB with 100% yield, and the activation energy (Ea) of the reaction was estimated as 61.05 kJ mol−1. In addition, the Na-Alg@Ru nanoparticles were prepared with acrylamide as p(AAm)/Na-Alg@Ru hydrogel films suitable for use in hydrogen production in fuel cells, which represents a battery-like environment, and used for hydrogen production from AB. Thus, it was shown that the catalysts prepared in a few nm size could easily be used in battery-like environments.  相似文献

A Co/HTNT catalyst is developed by immobilizing Co on the surface of titanate nanotubes. The microstructure and composition of the catalyst are investigated with atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The developed Co/HTNT catalyst shows great performance in catalyzing NaBH4 hydrolysis. The hydrolysis of 25 mg NaBH4 catalyzed by 50 mg Co/HTNT in 10 g NaOH solution (12.5 wt%) provides a hydrogen production rate of 1.04 L min?1 gCo?1 at 30 °C, and the activation energy of the reaction is 29.68 kJ mol?1. The high catalytic activity and economical property make this catalyst a promising choice for on-site hydrogen production from NaBH4 hydrolysis.  相似文献

Ammonia borane (AB) is considered to be a promising solid hydrogen carrier. In this work, poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone) (PVP)-protected platinum nanoparticles are supported on γ-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (γ-MPS) modified silica spheres (Pt-PVP/SiO2(M)), which are firstly used as highly efficient catalysts for hydrolysis of AB. Platinum nanoparticles possess a tiny size of 2–3 nm and are uniformly dispersed over modified silica spheres. Pt-PVP/SiO2(M) catalysts with a Pt loading amount of 1.30 wt% show the highest catalytic activity with a turnover frequency (TOF) value of 371 molH2 molPt?1 min?1 (866 molH2 molPt?1 min?1 corrected for the surface atoms) at 25 °C. The activation energy is calculated to be 46.2 kJ/mol. Furthermore, owing to the synergistic effect between the modifier of silica spheres and the capping agent of metal nanoparticles, Pt-PVP/SiO2(M) catalysts have a higher loading amount (8.7 and 6.5 times) and TOF value (4.8 and 5.5 times) than the counterparts prepared without γ-MPS and PVP, respectively.  相似文献

An effective strategy synthesis of Rh/meso-Al2O3 catalysts was demonstrated by mechanochemistry for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of ammonia borane (AB). These catalysts are characterized systematically by N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms, X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and transmission electron microscope (TEM). The results show that the turnover frequency (TOF) and activation energy (Ea) are 246.8 molH2·molRh?1·min?1 and 47.9 kJ mol?1 for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of at 298 K catalyzed by Rh/Al2O3-CTAB-400, obviously higher than those previously reported catalysts. Furthermore, catalyst Rh/Al2O3-CTAB-400 can be recycled by simple centrifugal separation and the catalytic activity is still well maintained after five cycles. In addition, a plausible mechanism for hydrolytic dehydrogenation of AB has also been proposed. This mechanochemical synthesis method exhibits great application prospects for the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts.  相似文献

Cobalt(0) nanoclusters embedded in silica (Co@SiO2) were prepared by a facile two-step procedure. In the first step, the hydrogenphosphate anion (HPO42−) stabilized cobalt(0) nanoclusters were in situ generated from the reduction of cobalt(II) chloride during the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride (NaBH4) in the presence of stabilizer. Next, HPO42− anion-stabilized cobalt(0) nanoclusters were embedded in silica formed by in situ hydrolysis and condensation of tetraethylorthosilicate added as ethanol solution. Co@SiO2 can be separated from the solution by vacuum filtration and characterized by UV-Vis electronic absorption spectroscopy, TEM, SEM-EDX, ATR-IR and ICP-OES techniques. Co@SiO2 are found to be highly active and stable catalysts in the hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB) even at low cobalt concentration and room temperature. They provide an initial turnover frequency of 13.3 min−1 and 24,400 total turnovers over 52 h in the hydrolysis of AB at 25.0 ± 0.5 °C. Moreover, Co@SiO2 retain 72% and 74% of the initial activity after ten runs recyclability and five cycles reusability test in the hydrolysis of AB, respectively. The kinetics of hydrogen generation from the hydrolysis of AB catalyzed by Co@SiO2 was studied depending on the catalyst concentration, substrate concentration, and temperature. The activation parameters of this catalytic reaction were also determined from the evaluation of the kinetic data.  相似文献

Developing efficient but facile strategies to modulate the catalytic activity of Ru deposited on metal oxides is of broad interest but remains challenging. Herein, we report the oxygen vacancies and morphological modulation of vacancy-rich Co3O4 stabilized Ru nanoparticles (NPs) (Ru/VO-Co3O4) to boost the catalytic activity and durability for hydrogen production from the hydrolysis of ammonia borane (AB). The well-defined and small-sized Ru NPs and VO-Co3O4 induced morphology transformation via in situ driving VO-Co3O4 to 2D nanosheets with abundant oxygen vacancies or Co2+ species considerably promote the catalytic activity and durability toward hydrogen evolution from AB hydrolysis. Specifically, the Ru/VO-Co3O4 pre-catalyst exhibits an excellent catalytic activity with a high turnover frequency of 2114 min?1 at 298 K. Meanwhile, the catalyst also shows a high durability toward AB hydrolysis with six successive cycles. This work establishes a facile but efficient strategy to construct high-performance catalysts for AB hydrolysis.  相似文献

Effective Co/Cu, CoB/Cu, and CoBM (M = Mo,Zn,Fe)/Cu catalysts were prepared on the copper surface by a simple electroless deposition method using a morpholine borane as a reducing agent in the glycine solution. The activity of the deposited catalysts was investigated for hydrogen generation from an alkaline sodium borohydride solution. It was determined that these synthesized catalysts demonstrated the catalytic activity for the hydrolysis reaction of NaBH4. The lowest obtained activation energy (EA) of the hydrolysis reaction of NaBH4was 27 kJ mol?1 for the CoBMo/Cu catalyst. The hydrogen generation rate of 15.30 ml min?1 was achieved using CoBMo/Cu catalysts at 313 K and it increased ~3.5 times with the increase of temperature to 343 K. The highest hydrogen generation rate obtained by CoBMo/Cu films may be related to the hierarchical cauliflower-shaped 3D structures and the high roughness surface area. Moreover, the CoBMo/Cu catalyst showed an excellent reusability.  相似文献

Catalytically active, low-cost, and reusable transition metal catalysts are desired to develop on-demand hydrogen generation system for practical onboard applications. By using electroless deposition method, we have prepared the Pd-activated TiO2-supported Co-Ni-P ternary alloy catalyst (Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2) that can effectively promote the hydrogen release from ammonia-borane aqueous solution. Co-Ni-P/Pd-TiO2 catalysts are stable enough to be isolated as solid materials and characterized by XRD, SEM, and EDX. They are isolable, redispersible and reusable as an active catalyst in the hydrolysis of AB. The reported work also includes the full experimental details for the collection of a wealth of kinetic data to determine the activation energy (Ea = 54.9 kJ mol−1) and effects of the amount of catalyst, amount of substrate, and temperature on the rate for the catalytic hydrolysis of AB. Maximum H2 generation rate of ∼60 mL H2 min−1 (g catalyst)−1 and ∼400 mL H2 min−1 (g catalyst)−1 was measured by the hydrolysis of AB at 25 °C and 55 °C, respectively.  相似文献

Porous Co–B nanoalloy is a low-cost and highly active catalyst towards the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride (NaBH4). In this study, a facile and room-temperature hydrogen bubble-assisted method was developed to prepare porous Co–B nanoalloy (Co-Bbubble) materials exhibiting high catalytic activity. The obtained materials are characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer, transmission electron microscopy and surface area experiments. It is found that the hydrogen bubbles generated in-situ in the reaction system can act as template, which played an important role in determining the porous architecture of the final Co–B product. In the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride for hydrogen generation, the porous Co-Bbubble nanoalloy materials exhibit high catalytic activity with mass normalized rate constant of 5.31 Lhydrogen min?1 gcatalyst?1; a value which is much higher than those obtained for many other Co–B catalysts recently reported in the literature. The apparent activation energy (Ea) of the catalytic process is found to be ca. 30 kJ mol?1. It is proposed that the high catalytic performance and low cost of Co-Bbubble nanoalloy catalyst can be a promising material candidate in the hydrolysis of sodium borohydride for hydrogen production for commercial applications.  相似文献
