The organic nonlinear optical material ammonium d,l-tartrate single crystal has been successfully grown by slow evaporation solution technique (SEST). The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal XRD and the lattice parameters have been confirmed. The structural perfection of the grown crystal was analyzed by high-resolution X-ray diffraction measurement. The optical transmittance spectrum shows that the material has a good optical transparency in the entire visible region with the UV cut-off wavelength at 234 nm. Thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric measurements were performed to study the thermal properties of the grown crystal. Chemical etching studies were attempted to determine the dislocation density of the grown crystal. Mechanical behavior was assessed using Vickers hardness testing carried out on (0 0 1) crystallographic plane. The Kurtz–Perry powder SHG technique confirms the NLO property of the grown crystal and the efficiency of AMT crystal was found to be 1.3 times that of standard KDP crystal.  相似文献

Single crystals of 4-methyl benzene sulfonamide (4MBS) were successfully grown from aqueous solution by low temperature solution growth technique. The grown crystal was characterized by single crystal XRD and powder XRD methods to obtain the lattice parameters and the diffraction planes of the crystal. UV–vis–NIR absorption spectrum was used to measure the range of optical transmittance and optical band gap energy. The optical transmission range was measured as 250–1200 nm. FTIR spectral studies were carried out to identify the presence of functional groups in the grown crystal. The thermal behavior of the crystal was investigated from thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) study. The absence of SHG was noticed by Kurtz and Perry powder technique. The third order NLO behavior of the material was confirmed by measuring the nonlinear optical properties using Z-scan technique and it was found that the crystal is capable of exhibiting saturation absorption and self-defocusing performance.  相似文献

The Refractive Index was determined experimentally for the first time and found to be 1.508 for the incident wavelength of 632.8 nm. The second harmonic generation efficiency was determined using Kurtz and Perry powder technique and it was 0.7 times than that of the KDP crystal. Thermal properties were studied by thermo gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. Dielectric studies were carried out at different frequencies for various temperatures. The mechanical behaviour of the grown crystal was studied using Vickers micro hardness tester. The growth mechanism and surface features are investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).  相似文献

Two-photon absorption induced optical limiting action was demonstrated in cytosinium benzoate (CB) under nanosecond laser (532 nm, 9 ns, and 10 Hz) excitation. Intensity dependent open aperture Z-scan experiment exposed the presence of reverse saturable absorption ascribed due to sequential two-photon absorption. Initially CB single crystals were grown at room temperature by slow evaporation solution technique. Single crystal XRD shows that CB belongs to monoclinic crystal system with P21/c space group. Fourier Transform Infrared spectrum was recorded to identify the presence of functional groups. Thermal studies shows that the crystal is stable upto 168 °C. Vickers microhardness studies confirm that the grown crystal was belongs to soft material category. Etching study shows linear rectangular etch patterns (5 s) and well defined stacking planes (10 s) for water etchant. Optical studies demonstrate that CB crystal possess lower cut-off (287 nm) and moderate linear transmittance in visible region. The optical energy band gap of CB crystal was estimated from photoluminescence studies as 3.1 eV. CB with higher two-photon absorption coefficient (1.26?×?10–10 m/W) and lower onset limiting threshold (1.92?×?1012 W/m2) can be a potential candidate for developing laser safety devices under nanosecond green laser excitation regime.

The non-centrosymmetric space group organic nonlinear optical single crystal of 4-chloro-2-nitroaniline (4Cl2NA) was developed by slow evaporation method at 40 °C. Grown 4Cl2NA was monoclinic structure with Pc space group which was recognized by single-crystal XRD analysis. An intermolecular contact of 4Cl2NA was visually analysed by Hirshfeld surface analysis. Active functional groups and their respective vibrations were identified by FTIR and FT-Raman spectral analysis. Optical properties were evaluated by UV–Visible spectral analysis. Thermal TG/DTA thermogram analysis and mechanical Vickers hardness analysis revealed that the synthesis material was thermally stable up to 115 °C and mechanical work hardness coefficient (n?=?2.98) confirmed the grown crystal was soft material. Laser beam-irradiated LDT analysis expressed the laser utility limitation of the 4Cl2NA crystal. The NLO second harmonic generation efficiency was tested by Kurtz Perry powder method.

l-arginine trifluoroacetate, an organic nonlinear optical material, has been synthesized from aqueous solution. Bulk single crystal of dimension 57 mm × 5 mm × 3 mm has been grown by temperature lowering technique. Powder X-ray diffraction studies confirmed the monoclinic structure of the grown l-arginine trifluoroacetate crystal. Linear optical property of the grown crystal has been studied by UV–vis spectrum. Dielectric response of the l-arginine trifluoroacetate crystal was analysed for different frequencies and temperatures in detail. Microhardness study on the sample reveals that the crystal possesses relatively higher hardness compared to many organic crystals. Thermal analyses confirmed that the l-arginine trifluoroacetate material is thermally stable upto 212 °C. The etching studies have been performed to assess the perfection of the l-arginine trifluoroacetate crystal. Kurtz powder second harmonic generation test confirms the nonlinear optical properties of the as-grown l-arginine trifluoroacetate crystal.  相似文献

The 2-amino-4,6-dimethylpyrimidine benzoic acid (2APB) single crystal has been successfully grown by the slow evaporation method by using water as a solvent. The single-crystal X-Ray diffraction (SXRD) analysis gives knowledge about the structure and morphology of the 2APB crystal. The Powder X-ray Diffraction (PXRD) pattern of grinded 2APB crystal was compared with standard CIF file and the peaks were indexed with their corresponding miller indices (hkl). The crystalline perfection of the grown 2APB single crystal was analysed using high-resolution X-ray diffraction (HR-XRD) measurement. The various functional groups and their vibrational assignments were studied using the Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum analysis. The 2APB crystal has a lower cut-off wavelength of 325 nm, which is evident from the UV–visible–NIR analysis. The defects and etch pit density of 2APB crystal were examined using chemical etching studies. The 2APB crystal was thermally stable up to 140 °C, which was evident from the thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA). The photoconductivity analysis was carried out to calculate the photo and dark current values. The laser damage threshold (LDT) value was determined using a 532 nm Nd:YAG laser in single shot mode. The third-order non-linear optical (NLO) susceptibility (χ(3)) value was calculated from Z-scan technique, which involves open and closed aperture measurements.

A semi-organic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, lithium-p-nitrophenolate trihydrate (LPNP) was synthesized. Single crystals of dimensions 20 × 7 × 3 mm3 were harvested following the solvent evaporation technique. The functional groups present in the compound were identified from FT-IR and FT-Raman spectral analyses, and its molecular structure was confirmed. Identification of the compound was accomplished by X-ray diffraction technique (powder and single crystal XRD). The unit-cell dimensions and the morphology of the grown crystals were identified from single crystal XRD measurements. The thermal transport properties, thermal effusivity (e), thermal diffusivity (α), thermal conductivity (k) and heat capacity (C p) were measured by the photopyroelectric technique at room temperature. Dielectric constant and dielectric loss were also measured as a function of frequency between 42 Hz and 5 MHz, and temperature between 32 and 100 °C. From optical transmittance measurements, the direct optical band gap of the LPNP crystal was estimated to be 2.47 eV. Laser damage threshold is 60.91 GW cm−2. Powder second harmonic generation (SHG) measurement was carried out using a modified Kurtz–Perry technique. Third order nonlinear response was studied using Z-scan technique with a He–Ne laser (632.8 nm, 35 mW). The magnitude and the sign of the nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refraction are derived from a transmittance curve. The NLO parameters Intensity dependent refractive index n 2, nonlinear absorption coefficient β and third order susceptibility χ(3) were estimated.  相似文献

Longest unidirectional〈1 0 0〉 benzophenone (BP) crystal having dimension of 1060 mm length and 55 mm diameter was grown by Sankaranarayanan–Ramasamy method. The growth rate was measured by monitoring the elevation of the crystal–solution interface at different temperatures. The high resolution X-ray diffraction and etching measurements indicate that the unidirectional grown benzophenone crystal has good crystalline perfection and less density of defects. The optical damage threshold of SEST and SR grown BP crystals has been investigated and found that the SR grown benzophenone crystal has higher laser damage threshold value than the conventional method grown crystal. Microhardness measurement shows that crystals grown by SR method have a higher mechanical stability than the crystals grown by SEST method. Dielectric permittivity and birefringence are high in SR grown crystal compared to SEST grown BP crystal. The UV–vis-NIR results show that SR method grown crystal exhibits 7% higher transmittance as against crystals grown by conventional method.  相似文献

Good optical quality bulk single crystal of l-tartaric acid has been grown by directional solidification crystal growth method from aqueous solution. Crystal of dimension 77 mm length and 12 mm diameter has been grown at a growth rate of 2.5 mm day−1 which is the maximum size and growth rate achieved so far. The grown crystal was confirmed by powder XRD analysis and the presence of the functional groups in the crystal lattice was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectral analysis. Transmission spectral analysis shows that the crystal has more than 90% of transmittance in visible and near infrared region which exhibits the good optical quality of the crystal. The optical band gap was estimated to be 4.8 eV and it shows indirect optical transition. Thermal analysis shows the crystal to be thermally stable up to 172 °C and the load variation of the hardness has been explained on the basis of normal indentation size effect from microhardness study.  相似文献

ZnO thin films were grown on Si (111) substrates by pulsed laser deposition (PLD) at various oxygen pressures in order to investigate the structural and optical properties of the films. The optical properties of the films were studied by photoluminescence spectra using a 325 nm He-Cd laser. The structural and morphological properties of the films were investigated by XRD and AFM measurements, respectively. The results suggest that films grown at 20 Pa and 50 Pa have excellent UV emission and high-quality crystallinity. The research of PL spectra indicates that UV emission is due to excitonic combination, the green band is due to the replacing of Zn in the crystal lattice for O and the blue band is due to the O vacancies.  相似文献

An organometallic complex tetrathiourea mercury tetrathiocyanato manganate (TMTM) was synthesised by two step chemical route. The influence of pH on the solubility, stability of the growth solution and growth of TMTM single crystal was studied. The bulk crystal of dimension 2.7 cm × 0.5 cm × 0.4 cm was grown at an optimized pH value of 3.0 by solvent evaporation method using water as a solvent. The structure and the crystallinity of the grown crystal were confirmed from single crystal XRD and powder XRD studies. The presence of thiourea and thiocyanate ligand and their coordination with the metal ions are confirmed from the IR studies. The grown single crystal of TMTM shows 69% transparency over the entire range of visible region with a cut-off wavelength of 362 nm. The SHG efficiency of TMTM was found to be 0.08 time that of MMTC. The complex exhibits good thermal stability up to 205 °C and it is non-hygroscopic in nature. The surface analysis was carried out by etching studies which shows a layer growth pattern revealing the 2D nucleation growth mechanism. From the Vickers hardness studies, the work hardening coefficient and the elastic stiffness constant were calculated.  相似文献
